Partial Broadband ???

SInce about 9:30 yesterday, I have had a partial broadband connection...

What I mean by this is that I can VPN to work and my internet radio works fine; but when I try and access a webpage, I get a "you are not connected to the internet" or similar message from my browser.

ASDL2+ line is fine and I log into Orange fine... My linestats are also fine.

There was talk of issues yesterday with the Orange network, but I would have thought that it would have been sorted by now.

Any ideas before I start ripping my network apart and resetting routers to default settings etc?

Hi.

I'm at work at the moment, but yesterday I believe the ip address was returned correctly.

Another thing I noticed was that ping was losing a lot of packets.

I will do a simple test tonight of resetting my router to factory and only connecting one device to the router to see if the problem persists.

(my kids are experiencing what it's like without the internet - and they don't like it. Just shows how much we rely on this service nowadays)

Sounds like a DNS issue, if you can browse to some sites (you said you can login to Orange) but not others. Try using raw IP addys instead, Try changing DNS to OpenDNS or Google DNS.

Why bother going to all the trouble of reconfiguring router by resetting to factory?

Embarrassingly, it ended up as being my fault... mostly... my NAS DNS had a resolve.conf set to itself!
