EE speed has gone down lately, stats ok?

i used to get around 10 meg , last week not more than 1.5 meg now it's around 6.50 meg
i'm currently on the phone with them customer service says nothing wrong about my stats but i got a feeling noise margin is a bit high
he told me to wait another 24 hours to check the line to see any improvement
any help?

So while the stats are ok, they show plenty of spare margin and I suspect Orange/BT Wholesale has banded the profile for the line, resulting in the capped speeds

What can I do the fix the problem then?
Harass them ?

If you have not done so since the speed drop, I suggest that you try the Quiet Line Test first.

I dont bave a phone , but I'm guessing the guy over has done as he was testing the line

Given there is spare noise margin available I don't believe there is any excessive issue with the line but probably will end up with EE wanting you to do some line testing, so a corded phone and doing the quiet line test yourself is a reasonable thing to do

Do you happen to have a set of the old stats?

I would recommend that you get one, the "simplest" that you can find, preferably that does NOT require a mains adaptor or even batteries.

It would also be of use in emergencies such as complete mains failure (house and district), when you would also be unable to recharge a mobile/cell phone.

If later you progress to FTTC, the final few (hundred) metres of your land phone line are still required - and typically, that stretch from the Green or Grey Distribution Cabinet (including the joints inside) to your house, is the most vulnerable and liable to give rise to random noise, signal degradation and/or failure.

So the ability to do the occasional Quiet Test is likely to still be advantageous in the future.

what fault can i expect from silent test? i remenber doing one a while ago , but you basically don't hear a thing , if there is a fault on line ,will an error be mentioned ?

No, you are just listening out for any noise on the line.
