HDNL strikes again

[link to this post]

Apparently my XBox and bits were delivered at 12:14 today, but no sign of a parcel or delivery card through the door.

Oddly there was an anonymous white van that arrived, turned around and left (within 10 seconds) at that time.

So HDNL ruins what is otherwise good Amazon service. Oddly HDNL have previously been good delivering to this address, if you include just dropping parcel by the front door and running away.

At least they didn't leave your phone in your recycling bin, popping a card through the door stating they left it in a "safe place".

Shame that "safe place" was then collected and phone vanished.

Driver said it had been delivered and getting them to pay out compensation to the sender (who refused to send another as I had apparently signed for it), was not easy.

Well Amazon has come back with nothing, and a 10p per minute call to HDNL did not result in the promised return call 'once driver has been interviewed'

Given Amazon until Friday 4pm to resolve, at which point will request order cancellation, and ensure a chargeback is applied by credit card firm if Amazon has billed it already.

Don't mind slow deliveries, when you select free postage or such, but next day should be next day.

That gets my goat too. Ordered something from Expansys last week, site says order before XPM and guaranteed next day delivery. Ordered at 2am on Tues, expected Wed, wasn't even shipped until 6pm from France(?) but was delivered Thursday.

Called them, they argued it was next day from shipping when the site says from order - they gave in and refunded. Naughty.

Given them overnight and now HDNL national phone system just hangs up after a minute or more of waffle

Called Amazon and they peddled the line investigation is under way and will take around 48 hours to complete. How hard is to reconcile what has been brought back to the depot...unless it has been stolen/wrongly delivered.

So has been a good seven or so years using Amazon but time to go elsewhere now.

Cheap prices and reasonable service I stay, bad service I go elsewhere and tell others about the bad service.

Yea they do, not bad value at Blockbuster either to be fair, they do a lot of 4 for £20 deals and sometimes have some good titles! They are a bit expensive for brand new games, but always guaranteed a decent service at my local one.

In regards to HDNL, they are pretty poor, hear a lot of bad things about them and how they manage their staff and warehouses.

I really dont understand why people rave on about Amazon as there are far more better online retailers out there with a brilliant delivery record.

I have been using Shopto.net for all my gaming needs for the past 2 years and not once have they failed a delivery and each and everytime i order a game from them i get it before release date.

Was playing little Big Planet 2 Thursday evening and there service is exceptional,i can only comment on the service that they have supplied to me but its been fantastic

Don't recognise this HDNL, maybe it only operates in England? In fairness to Amazon I have dealt with them from N Ireland past 6 yrs total value up to £1000pa and found them excellent. Most deliveries Royal Mail (maybe I'm lucky) a few DHL. Maybe VERY lucky as I do know about the dump&run brigade.

They use the Royal Mail for games and i think its TNT for the bigger stuff, you have a choice with the games when you order .........You can have first class delivery [free] not signed for or if you prefer you can have a delivery where you have to sign.[free also]

Like i said i can only go on my experiences and have found them to be really fantastic service wise and cheaper than a lot of other online retailers such as Game.

Game got complacent in my book as i used them for games for many years and i shopped nowhere else, but after failing to meet game release dates on many occasions i gave up with there service.

I have had a really smooth experience with Shopto.net and until they mess up which has never happened i will continue to use them.

its quite possible the Home Delivery Network have bitten off more than they can chew and logistically are finding its harder. Amazon have contracts with RM as well and so do alot of the larger online stores. Only recently had issues with RM due to weather at xmas but not fully to blame, just as well I have inside info tongue Felt sorry for joe public as its taken 3 weeks to deliver parcels in my area!!

My six year spend is a lot more than that.

HDNL has in the past being OK, most annoying thing is am pretty convinced the van I saw turn around was a HDNL (i.e. plain white which they seem to use) which meant any GPS log shows them coming to my address.

Refund is processing from Amazon currently, if they had wanted me as a customer then an expidited order on Friday via Royal Mail Special Saturday delivery would have kept me as a faithful customer.

royal mail are horrible they never deliver my normal mail before 3pm and recently they delivered a special delivery item to the wrong address and neither RM or amazon could have cared less had to go and buy the item in town.

if anyone knows a online store on par with amazon with prices for films and uses a decent carrier (dpd/ukmail) please post them, i am wary of placing expensive orders now, other items i would have bought from amazon (camera equipment, games) have been easy to source but there dont seem to be any decent sites for purchasing films

"royal mail are horrible they never deliver my normal mail before 3pm"

well got news for you its gonna get worse, the business want to extend the delivery day so expect mail to be delivered at night. Normal mail deliveries are not guaranteed or time limited. On the whole if you can find a better value mail service anywhere in Europe for that matter I`ll eat my hat laugh !! but thats not to say it can`t be improved!
