Getting owned in Crysis 2 Multiplayer ?

Well i consider myself above average if not a good FPS player but having just dabbled with the Crysis 2 Multiplayer you would think that i had never played a FPS game in my life.

Quite frankly its embarrassing seeing the scoreboard at the end of the game with similar ranked players like myself.

Only there's does not read 1 kill 12 deaths........[censored] is going on here i keep asking myself,apart from a laser dotted sight that these killers have when i see killcam back am i missing something.

I have yet to unlock the red dot site but i am truly getting owned in this game for some reason or another..........Think what few perks i have are ok and the chance of getting a 3 killstreak in my case is as much chance as a date with Kelly Brooke.

Really got to get my act together because the game is very fast paced and i enjoy it very much apart from being Cannon fodder to everyone else.

I dare not turn my microphone volume up because its going to sound like a pack of laughing hyenas

I was like that in Counterstrike Source. And BF1942. And BF2, BF2142, BF Heroes (yeah I know), CODMW, MoHAA, UT, UT2/3/4 etc and any other game I tried online.

Then after a while you start to improve and instead of getting killed 12 times for every one kill you make, it becomes more like 8. And after some months/years^ go by, if you're really good you sometimes get a positive score and kill more often than you get killed.

Guess you'll get the hang of it sooner or later, once you are more familiar with the map layout and game mechanics. Maybe you're just getting old though? Your reactions are no longer jedi quick. More like jabba fast? [darth vader like voice] "Your powers are weak old man." Muhahahhahaa

Don't worry mate. If I was playing I'd make you look good! You need more players like me and less 12 year kids with the reflexes of poop-loving house flies.

Hehe. Just as well you can't hear them gloating I suppose. I dunno what I would be like if it were me but I'd probably go nuts and some kid would record my voice and my angry foaming rant would be made into YouTube's next biggest viral hit. They'd probably call it sad old lame-gamer or something and I'd be ridiculed for ever. [shudder]

Anyway, I blame age. Why not? You've got to put the blame somewhere. If you or I were 12 again we'd give them a damn good thrashing, that's what!

Actually my realisation is that you have switched to control pads, and therefore can not cope against those who have not made in switches in control methods/schemes.


I hereby decree that you must hang up your control pads and pick up your mouse and keyboards!

Ah, well. Ahem, yes. Control pads you say? Is that that thing with a long cord and a lumpy bit of plastic on the end with two buttons that go click? And that thing with lots and lots of keys that is er, board shaped you speak of? If so, yes of course, that's the problem! Why didn't I think of that sooner?

I never left the PC. I'm just c.r.a.p. End of. I get a little better though. Especially when I've been practising for a few years. Battlefield 2 was my forte though. I'm quite good in that (sometimes!). Well, I've had my rare moments.

Nothing to do with the pads its the fact that there is a lot more to this Crysis 2 than just another FPS Gzero.

I have been using pads for years and in most FPS i am extremely good and if i don't finish on top of the scoreboard i am usually there abouts.

For some strange reason Crysis 2 for me is like my first venture into Gaming,i do tend to run and gun and i die 6 times before i get 1 kill normally.

In firefights even when i am shooting them first [aka Billy the kid] IN THE BACK ...I still get killed first by lower ranked players.

Looking back at Killcam i thought they may have some different perks assigned so that will be the reason why,Only to find out they have the same weapon and perks as me...............Certainly older age as Spook suggest lowers reaction times but to play like a complete dim wit is another thing.

Did learn something to stop the recoil of guns though,when using the R1 button to fire and the R2 to sight.................Hold in the R3 button and that makes the cross-hair/red dot more stable...................Still tried that and still got owned

Got a choice tonight of playing Crysis 2 and trying to learn or going through my collection of Postmans pats boxed set of dvd

Are you loading up <MAXIMUM ARMOR> before you fire (make sure if you sprinted or anything, to give it enough time to reach high enough to take 2 shots ~80%)?

Most people are looking/listening for gun fire, makes you stand out like a plum in a banana factory.

Did get pretty good a couple of times when I finally went for my snipers badge in BF2. Better with the claymores though! Oh yes. It was the only positive kill/death ratio I had. Well, that and other explosives. For some reason I was pretty good with explosives.

Mate, I don't think it's your reactions. I was just kidding. As Gzero says, the others must be doing something you're not. Like that armour shields up thing. Provided you're getting a hit you can rule out lag but if you're not bringing them down then it's a question of maybe where you're hitting them or some suit perk that affects either your damage given or taken as Gzero says.

I think there are some connection issues at the moment, and definitely some big lagging going on.

Thing is I can't complain T2D because my connection is really going well. It feels much less laggy than all the other games that I have trouble with, even though the kill cam shows ridiculous delays at times.

Conversely, my playing buddy has a reasonably stable connection and apart from the odd game has always faired reasonably well. Since playing Crysis 2 he is getting owned big time. Last night he appeared to be hosting and got destroyed 2 and 16. Everybody else in the game had 1 red bar or 2 yellow and he had full green. So the problems could be down to poor match making?

I don't know to be fair, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Which probably won't be that long!

Yeah claymores are deadly when you put it in a spot right where someone is likely to be making the decision: shoot or melee.

Its game lag or lag comp not working correctly i like u play fps with a kd of 3 this week on bops so my reactions are fast enough but on crysis i put a full clip in the opponent just for them to hit me with a quick burst (i am on full health btw) and i am gone.
It is a shame as i was hoping for more now back to the cod franchise again i go.

Yeah some people just don't look for them that's their problem! I always have to smile when I see someone's name come up as deceased by my hand when I'm nowhere near 'em. Hehehe.

Do you still play BF2, Gzero? Or don't get the time? Too busy playing other games I expect!

Actually after a few games tonight i am getting the hang of it and finished 2nd in one match and third in another.

I tend to try to have maximum armor but its hit and miss if this actually does anything as i have killed quite a few tonight without even using it.

Looking back at the killcams i think it helps if you don't get into a panic when coming face to face with someone [like me] and try and aim for the head shots as this seems to take people down really quick.

At least its nice to have 10 multiplayer maps unlike the paltry few on offer in Killzone 3 .........That's when they actually rotate correctly.

Wasting my life away in WoW and BC2 <godforsaken lack of teamwork game that it is>.

I might go back to BF2 if there was a good server to go back to. I didn't mind strike at karkand inf only or wake 24/7, but they did get a bit boring after a bit.

What I really need in BF2 is a good gunner for my cobra.
Or a sniping buddy to keep those wacky heavy gunners off me when spotted.

Quick burst indicates lag, happens all the time in BC2:

You: 3 quick dink noises and you die
Reality: Guy empties clip at you, you run around a bit, server says hang on your dead.

Annoying, but it's a sign of the times, network programmers these days do not have a clue.

So, you need a scapegoat and someone to carry your coat. I mean, gunner for a Cobra? Yeah, I can do that. Hope you're a good pilot though.

A little rusty, couldn't compete with the joystick users, but should be still good enough to spam death from the air if it still handles the way I hope it does.

Been playing single player mode for some practise this evening. It's been a very long while since I last played BF2 (feels like I'm in a confessional) and I am not even a match for the ultra dumb AI (on easy mode) at the minute. That said, I am exaggerating a little but would get seriously owned if playing with the big boys online.

Never really used Teamspeak etc but wanted to install it and try and get my head round it. So I shall have a go. Always used the in-game VOIP in squads but yeah, it would be easier to use a decent dedicated package I guess. Gotta find a mic too...

Team speak is brilliant and its what i used many years ago in my PC gaming hay day.others will suggest ventrilo over TS which i have never tried.

Love to get you and Gzero in a FPS game.............Sort of sort the men out from the boys

Hehe. Yeah. I think I might have used TS once or something or maybe not ever. I have Ventrilo though. Always was complicated setting up and connecting to rooms/channels what-have-you. Found it easier to just use the VOIP thing in-game (BF2).

Hey, T2D. Have you not got BF2 for your - ahem - PC? If not, why not? It's no good being great at Crysis 2 now. We need you to test your fighting muscle in BF2 with us.

And then we really will separate the men from the boys, eh? Big boys play BF2! Well, I would say that now wouldn't I? Just think. You, me and Gee (Mr Zero) all in a little car together, driving around and finding flags to take. We could even have a little picnic in a quiet spot someplace to eat our sarnies. Watch the (mad) world go by.

Personally I recommend mumble, its free and IMO far superior to vent/TS. Its far lighter on client and server resources.

I've got rid of both ts and vent now, vent is a horrible program to use and TS is just bloat these days IMO, plus they both charge for server stuff.

The only downside i'd say is that its ACL takes a bit to get used to but once you learn it its far more flexible if you do WoW raids and stuff than what vent or TS are.

Actually Spook i do have a PC copy of Battlefields 2 but just can not find it in me to install the program and use a PC for gaming once again.

I have got so used to sitting back in comfort and not been at some office desk.

Did you not buy Crysis 2 then Spook and is Battlefields the only real game you play,go get a console Spook i am sure you will enjoy something about it.

You need a more comfy office chair! Just think, you can even take your glasses off you'll be so close to the screen...

Haven't got any cash left to think about splashing out on games or a console yet mate. That said, once my credit card has recovered a bit I am sure I will get a few games in. For now I'm happy to go through what I've got as there's a lot of stuff I haven't played through properly yet.
