Will it Challenge Battlefields 3 ?

[link to this post]

People will say that they are 2 different types of games and COD is now starting to bore people to death............Personally MW1 and 2 before the hacks and flaws on the playstation network were 2 of my all time favourite FPS.

Now news is coming in about MW3 and we have a massive hype wagon starting all over as to what is going to come out on top.

I am looking forward to both these games but i know there are more hardened Battlefields fans on here and many have a dislike of COD games.

So what will it BE

Don't mind me, im just lying down next to the road having a kip instead of riding this wagon, truly fed up of CoD.

Closest i get to MW3 is to see if it picks up the story and fills in some of the gaps between mw1 and mw2.

As Falcon says he is, I too would like to be fed up of CoD. But I too am looking forward to both games.

No matter how bored I get with the story or the 14 year old trolls in the pre game lobbies, I still find myself itching to play it. I think its because I love the balance of the controller mechanics. I guess that is not so important if using the mouse on the pc, but for ps3 games (at least in my experience), there are few that seem to match it. Crysis 2 came close, but KZ3 was a country mile off. If they all handled so well it might be a completely different story.

BF3 however looks fantastic. I really want this to play well online because the campaign looks too good to be true at times!

Personally I doubt I'll buy another COD game again. The last one was just so short it was laughable and the online play has turned into Sonic the Hedgehog power-up Super Mario land. It's no longer an FPS in my opinion.

Battlefields may turn out well as it has a good history. But then so did COD.

Only game I'm looking forward to this year is RO2, but I have a feeling that will disappoint as well.

I think I'm losing faith in gaming!

Multiplayer in the game returns with a chunky list of playable maps as well as two types of Spec Ops modes: "Survival" and "Mission".

I hope one of these is a genuine co-op campaign style mode. That to me is what good FPS titles should be offering nowadays. Even if it is a shorter campaign that runs seperately from the single player story.

Well, several years on and I still play, on a regular basis, Day of Defeat, both the original and Source versions. Am quite partial to the gun games. You start with a basic weapon and kill your way to better and better ones, either as an individual or as a team.

I have, on and off, tried COD, Battlefield (of various flavours) amongst others, and TBH, I always come back to DOD. I never really got into them and could not pin down just what I thought was wrong with them. Perhaps I just prefer the WWII themes and weapons in DOD. Perhaps it's because most of the plebs have gone off to COD, Battlefield or stuff on PS and XBox... smile

RO2 = Red Orchestra 2, possibly?

Never liked Red Orchestra personally.

Never played the original, was a mod that went stand alone and MP only, your the first person I've ever come across that didn't like it!

Everything I've seen of 2 is everything I like in a FPS, mainly the fact that it won't take a whole clip to kill another player...

Ahh DOD, the original and best WWII FPS MP game, how they all should be made IMO, fast, fun packed team based action where skilled team play means something, not whether you've unlocked the next uber weapon.

You've made me want to reinstall it now, how's the community around it these days, many servers?

RO was a massive let-down in my book. It, for me, was one game that was a complete waste of money - It was with deep regret that I bought the excuse for a game.

I have loaded other games that were absolutely drastic, and RO IS better than them, but never mind.

There are plenty of servers out there smile

Many of them are empty frown but there is a core of really good ones grin which have regulars and you can be guaranteed a good game. These are the busy ones with plenty of players in them.

Sadly, my motherboard has a fault and the PCI express port is dead and I can only use the onboard graphics frown which are shocking so no gaming for me until the mobo is replaced (plus there appears to be a fault with the sata ports cause the hard drives are not always detected and I know they are working 100%)

Will it Challenge Battlefields 3....it might struggle!

[re: time2die] [link to this post]

http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/pc/battlefield-3/1172589p1....

I like the multiplayer gameplay of the BF titles. But sometimes I just can't be bothered to keep moving on and want frenetic fighting action, aka COD.

If they actually supply Team Deathmatch and also co-op campaign as suggested, then COD could take second place for me. And Elite type services for free as well?

Maybe the tide is changing, but let's hope they get it right. I am now far more excited about BF3 than MW3. smile
