Maybe it's not my connection?

Apologies if these have been posted before:

Following the links leads to some interesting reading.

Interesting read and you may have won me an argument with that - putting it in layman's terms isn't going to easy though

What an attitude from the Treyarch rep! Bit like the current UK government laugh

I always liked the way things were done in SOCOM and it seemed to work well and also people tended to stick to the servers / room for their country / region

without detailed reading, it seems:
occasionally, they slug contestants on faster connections, to try and level the playing field.

On detailed reading I would deduce that FireFalcon's claims of poor net code are probably correct. The question in point is whether it is deliberately so. The consensus seems to be that lag compensation is being heavily applied in unequal measure.

Whatever the reason, it could explain why my new faster connection is at times worse than my old 1 meg connection. The symptoms are exactly the same as that the users in the link are reporting.

I think I will try the original MW tomorrow and see how that fares without all the host migration rubbish going on.

Ditto!

Anti-lag, rewinding the spacetime continuum? Horribly complex way of saying they try to compensate for packet delays between players.

Surely if one point of view should be correct, it ought to be that of the host? But it looks like what that guy is saying is they deliberately mess up his connection too so their in-game recording will never reflect reality. There is no reality!

Perhaps this is a good time for Professor Brian Cox to step in and explain the physics! crazy

Played MW1 tonight. What a great game. Loved the maps and though still laggy at times during most games, infinitely more playable than any of its offspring.

Unfortunately 50% of the games in deathmatch were played in some sort of glitched fast mode. And 14 year old American kids were calling the host "gay". Just like old times! Domination didn't seem to suffer the same glitch effort so played that mostly.

Still gonna play again tomorrow though with the mute button on.

Was playing it through again a few months back on the 360 and its a brilliant game still but just a little dated..................

I have played all the MW on both consoles and i tell you know they run better on the 360 and i hate saying that as i always favour my P3.............

interesting to see this here , as a CODite i have been aware of this lag compensation from very early on after Lag Ops realise .

There have been tune ups to the lag compensation since realise , even thou not listed , as i just use to know i had host , as nothing would drop a enemy , rage quitting became normal amongst hosts but things have improved or im i getting use to compensating for the lag compensation ? .( irony alert )

But this is over Xbox , as i just can not cope with the PSN version of COD games , i might complain about lag over Xbox but still don't experience anything like PSN lag .

and yes i do have both consuls but as multiplayer is where its at for me , i obviously play my Xbox allot more than my PS3 .

I am hoping that the dedicated servers will help with that.

Just read this mate and i though there was a paragraph relating to your problem regarding connection.

The topic was actually to do with the new MW3 Trailer but he goes on about connection problems with Black ops on his Playstation HERE

Manually setting the DNS servers on the PS3 has been known to help with similar issues
