First of lets just say it should have been kept away from the general buying public FOREVER...................The game is what i would call a complete utter joke in terms of looks and the way it plays.
The install procedure is just laughable as there is nothing in this game remotely that needs a install of this terrible looking game.
So apparently its been in development some 12 years, tell you what people this game stopped development 12 years ago as i swear i am playing the PC Original.
This is not a review i am just utter disgusted how this game got a publisher and how it ever got to see the light of day.
This game will be in bargin bins within a week rest assured and its the biggest load of garbage that i have ever had the misfortune of playing............Avoid like the Plague at all costs.
I thought Hunted the demons forge last week was bad but that compared to this trash is Uncharted 3..
I could only stand 20 minutes of this excuse for a game and could not press the eject button quick enough,i had no intention of picking this up until i saw a video that made me give it a try.Don't even spend a tenner on this because it really is a poor product and the developers and publishers should be locked up and never allowed to make games again.............Duke Nukem is known for its funny humour and funny quotes but i am not laughing having been completely ripped of with a shoddy product that by today's standards is appalling in every shape and form...
Anyone that likes this in my opinion is completely blind to what makes a decent game...Period
And this sums it UP FOR ME

I'm glad I bought the game.. only to realise, it does not run on a Mac.
Silly steam for letting me buy and download on a Mac. Silly me for not paying attention.

Why would you be glad you bought a game that don't play on your system and the thought that i have just said this game is utter garbage.

Expensive way of seeing tripe and my reason for posting about it is to save the guys on here some money just in case they are mad enough like me and are considering picking up this Christmas Turkey

If you'd had posted 12 hours before.. I might be £29.99 better off

Thanks mate. I was tempted today, but thought I would check the forum first and shoot to Asda later if it got a good review. A close shave.

Glad I left it to wait for reviews, sounds typical for the recent gaming market though tbh
Stopped buying pre releases a long while back because of this type of behaviour from developers, rarely buy a game until a couple of months after release, gives it a chance to be reviewed and patched.
Actually i did make the mistake of trying a pre order again a few weeks ago and bought IL2, made me realise why I'd stopped doing it!
|
|
|
|
Yep, pretty much only reason to buy it would be if you had a massive nostalgia fit, even then i hear it doesnt even live up to duke 3d standards.... Makes you wonder why they didnt just can it.
Even with it being from an era gone by it still falls short of those past standards.
|
|
|
Have also pre-ordered DS3, but not sure about playing the demo......quite happy to wait for the full release, so I don't spoil anything!

Those comments after the article were hilarious. I learnt a lot of new bad words and that surprised me immensely as I thought I knew 'em all already.
Most people commented to say the article's author - Tom Law - was up himself and pointed out he had based his judgements not on playing the game itself but on watching game trailers. Law's beef wasn't with how the game played - as it appears he never even played it - but with the game's deliberate puerility, a viewpoint which he was almost unanimously criticised for. It seems he substitutes political correctness for good gaming analysis and thereby completely misses the point of not only DNF but writing a good review that isn't just clever sentences strung together. DNF clearly wasn't going to be anything other than vulgar. Was there really any need to lament that fact?
Still, that's not to say the game itself had any redeeming features so far as to say it was meant to be fun and worthwhile to play, as a user named bigbaldjon commented "this game is absolutele [sic] dog [censored]." It was very entertaining reading the comments as it often is and the article itself was written very well indeed though the guy's points were totally out of synch with his audience.
When it comes to games reviews who do we turn to? Why, time2die of course! Want the definitive word on how a game plays and if it's worth buying? Then wait till T2D gets it and if he's still talking about how good it is after a few days then chances are it's worth getting!

Someone who buys that many games ought to know a thing or two about them. Just not sure if he is avid, or simply masochistic!
With the subtle allegiances to developers/franchises that show within the review industry, it's nice to get a regular unbiased opinion on so many games.

I don't like coming on here and hating games but some such as Puke Nekem Forever need trouncing that's for sure.
I understand that the DN games as suppose to be funny but they could have given it a Graphical update after so many years, the only people who think its funny are the devlopers and the publisher who have delivered a very poor product.
Most games in this day and age should look like the generation they are made for and not retro consoles of the past..
Example.
When playing games like Battlefields and MW we are gripped with the intensity of the game play and the amazing set pieces and realism involved,we like to feel that whatever gun we have in our hands at the time looks and feels very like a real gun with a amazing sounds and great animation when reloading.
When we fire of a clip or lob a grenade we want it to sound like proper gunfire and explosion.....[unlike the one in Black ops],muzzle flash, damage, bullet penetration all help to make a game a unique real experience.
When i look at Battlefields 3 it looks so real and even though i have not experienced
playing the game by the way it looks makes the majority of us feel the way we do about these great games on the horizon.
Imagine if the game looked dated and was like something from 5 years ago, would we be raving on about it then............I think not ?

More than likely the later matey
Think times are going to change and the addiction to but anything FPS has to stop unless i get good reviews coming in and i go with my initial thoughts.
If i had done that then DNF would never have seen the light of day in my house.

Hey! If it ain't broke don't try to fix it (as long as you can afford it that is).
It's very much appreciated from over here anyway.

Lets just say that it is available on consoles and this may effect the pc version. Nevertheless I have 2 wireless xbox 360 controllers and my crossfire receiver so Coop for me!

If people expected realism then it was never going to give that...
It plays reasonably well, and while not a COD equal, I am finding it more interesting to play than a lot of demo's I try.
Not tried multi player yet, but expecting more of a spray and shoot rather than accuracy.

I watched some vids of a guy playing through it on youtube.
Looked ok to me, nice and gorey from the random levels I inspected. I my only concern was that he was finishing levels in 5 minutes or so... err that's not the duke I know, duke is riddled with lots of running around and finding hidden sections and other easter eggs. I might check it out in a steam sale, online/multiplayer will be [censored] even if it surpasses the originals attempt at multiplayer.

It would have to be a Steam Sale for me. It'll be a wee while before it reaches any Bargain-Buckets. It's a darn shame tbh.
Thankfully we have T2D checking things out for us all. It's appreciated, and his opinion matters a bit.
Just a blinking let-down after so many years of waiting for the game. Grrrr.

You want to have some fun with a game with decent graphics then check out RFA and Infamous 2.................Hope Child of Eden is actually worth the wait on this Kinect that certainly needs a killer game just like the Playstation move.........Why Oh Why did i bother as i hate anything that involves moving around from my normal sit down position ...............Lesson learnt and i will not be investing in anything that requires me to swing my arms and legs around in the future.
Just to dam lazy to be bothered, myself and my girlfriend play a little Kinect bowling every 3 months but apart from that it was a complete waste of time and money.

Then why have you pre ordered Star Wars Kinect? oh and don't forget Disney too.

The original RF was fantastic - until the hack fools ruined it. It was a perfect game, with excellent physics. Happy memories, and I could've given you a moderate battle-[ish] back then. Ok, I may be better holding all of the guns (just in case!), but just know that I was nearly VERY good.
In the old days, you would've been surprised. No cheaters. Deft shot I was. Aye, old age is a killer.

Got Duke Nukem on Friday, it's alright, but a bit average. The gameplay isn't that exciting, it's alright blowing up the big bosses but apart from that it gets a bit tedious. For me it's the load times that let it down more than anything, waiting a few mins for it to load to die after 20 seconds and having to wait again was enough for me. I got about halfway through the game, think I will trade it in and wait for it to be a tenner or something and finish it then. It's good for nostalgia and the humour from Duke, it's very tongue in cheek and had me and the girlfriend laughing a lot at the ridiculous situations and things he says.

There are sections that involve no killing just puzzle solving, usually get too bored with those games, but the humour helps with the boring times.

Just looks like a Devil May Cry copy to be honest, might play it for the story though if it turns out to be good.

I'm not going in head first this time and will wait for reviews of the game and some more information..................Looks like some fun and i like Devil May Cry to be honest but I'm not sure about this Alice.
Obviously people on here no more about this game and the developers than myself so we will see if anyone adds anything regarding this game.

Eastenders and Coronation street Top the Television viewing charts every week along with X Factor when its on...............Don't make them good in my eyes.........
Duke Pukem sold so teenagers could get some kicks from the outdated sexual remarks and stupid humour that has not progressed since the game came out originally....................Games Ugly ,not interesting and basically PlayStation 1 graphically and generally a very poor designed game.
They could have given this a major graphical update and really had a world beater on there hands...............Lazy developers that have taken well over a decade to produce a big pile of dog [censored]

With reviews like those, I won't even be watching the bargain bins for it. Shame really, but there are too many titles up and coming (BF3, MW3, RFOM3, RAGE, DUST etc) to even think about wasting the money.

Yeah, I had a good read of a couple of reviews of DNF last night and it was very entertaining as well as a little educational.
Who needs to buy the game to get something from it at least? Puke Sputim Forever eh?
2K Games should be ashamed of themselves for releasing that pile of pap though I guess with them getting so much revenue in they'll not be feeling like apologising so much. More like celebrating!

most of the bad reviews are because of over expectations and the reviewer using a console, the game is fun if you actually play it, some of the puzzle sections are a bit longer than they probably should have been same with the driving sections and its a bit disappointing in 11 years noone could think of a new weapon or boss. load times are often but very short on pc.
