Any one tempted by this? I've signed up to register my gamertag but not sure if i'll take the plunge.

Luxemborg based servers, and 1Mbps download stream for basic service, so if the resolution is HD, picture will be blocky, okay for the more static games.

Also live encoding is generally poorer quality that post production encoding.

$30 a month in the US, likely to be £30 in UK. As a games sampler service perhaps, but for serious gaming its a step back to lower resolution gaming. With 5 or 6Meg streams and faster than super-fast services allow it is a lot more interesting.

Meh, it's 10 years too soon. The only people who think this is a great idea are those on 50mb who think everyone else gets the same throughput as them, when in reality shaping, caps and slow speeds can easily interrupt this service.

Yep, if you LIKE games in ANY way (which probably goes for 99% of this board), don't touch onlive, whilst the model might be interesting you won't be getting the same quality of gaming as what you currently get on your current platform.

Blocky picture (like poor freeview signal or early days of youtube streaming), i'd imagine its a bandwidth hog too, latency issues in general, latency issues for controlling, etc.

At 1Mbps it is 0.5GB per hour roughly, a big jump from playing a DVD based game on a console.
At 3-4Mbps which should be reasonable, but still below Xbox 360 standard, you can see how much of a hog it is.

if price is right, then for the sake of research might have to get it on expenses...
