help with new graphics card

Hi hope you can help im not a huge pc gamer i only go on WOW and the sims 3 i currently have an nvidia 8800GTS but its on its way out.
Can anyone recommend me a new card i dont have huge budget have not desided on the exact one yet all depends.
I dont want a top of the range powerful card or anything like that just something thats at least on par with the 8800GTS im not fussed weather its Nidia or ATI my only real requirement is DX11 wow just updated to support it and it dose give quite a performance boost.

This is something I will need to look into soon to get a new card ready for BF 3 but currently I am not too knowledgeable

I can tell you that a friend of mine who was on a bit of a budget looked into cards quite a lot and in the end went for the following card:

Thats a tad too much im looking more under 100 relay should of said before that card is too powerfull anyway like i say i only play WOW and the sims 3 and that's only because i have to play them on the PC lol i prefer consoles.

Ive been looking at the Radeon HD 6770 there about £85 i think there better than the 8800GTS but the internet not exactly bit of a mixed bag. If anyone can confirm weather the 6770 is a good choice that would be great.

The 6770 is a solid budget card. It should serve you well for the games you've listed. Also look out for the 5770 if you can get it cheaper, since it's the same card.

Isn't it cost effective to take a bigger leap and get a card that is going to last you a couple of years instead of a couple of months..............The card mentioned may be £60 to much if your looking at a £90 card but i would be trying to get something that is a lot faster and exceeds my needs regarding games rather than just about plays them.

Yes you could look at it this way but the 8800GTS is 5 year old and is still more powerful than my needs it plays both wow and the sims 3 maxed out, The only reason i need a replacement is because its starting to develop faults the 6770 is more powerful than the 8800 so is still more powerful than i need.

Until the sims 4 or the next upgrade to wow come out im safe the sims 4 wont be seen till after 2014 and unknown for wow so im safe for at least the next 3 years. Plus i don't have £150 and im not a vivid pc gamer so even if i had the extra money it would not be worth it for me i prefer to game on the PS3.

I do see were your coming from though just for me its not worth leaving my bank balance £0 lol

PS ive actually ordered the 6770 about a hour ago after getting confirm it will be fine .

Me too after all this haha ive done a bit more Google and it seams it will serve me for a few years,
TBH ive never really had a ATI card before ive always used nvidia in my desktops the only ATI card ive owned is an old DX8 9200 that i got for a fiver to use in an old comp to take a bit of strain off the ram lol.
Also i had a dell studio 15 laptop with a 4570 but only had the laptop 2 months so did'nt use it for much gaming.
Hope Ill Be as Happy with this card as i have been with my nvidia ones from the past 10 year

I always picked Nvidea over ATI ,dont know why but thats how it goes and personal prefference i guess and the fact that Drivers were more forth coming from Nvidea when i think about it...............Been many years since i dabbled in PC gaming and i only use consoles now .............Right or Wrong .............But have just as much fun in the process enjoy mate and its nice to see a new face in the gaming section and i do hope you post some more now you have your new card.

yea im the same i usual go for nvidia, im the same with intel/AMD since 1997 ive had intel PCs sept my last pc i got a AMD Phenom but come back to intel with my latest pc lol, Thanks i will enjoy

just to compare I have recently put a new PC togethor. I put a quad core AMD and a ATI 6870 HD gfx togethor. It seems very nippy to me, in WoW I have it on ultra settings at 1080P and its a solid 60fps, sometimes drops to low 50s but hell thats not bad. I reckon BF3 will be no probs on it. However undecided if to buy on Xbox or PC.
