That was an interesting read and reaffirms what has been said before, that the game mechanics might prove to be pretty well damn irksome.
I don't like the sound of having to collect a load of cash just to be able to upgrade your own weapons if all you're doing is basic DIY, as the author says, it doesn't make sense in this context to have to use money if you're just using a paddle, some nails and some tape for instance. All the shops are closed on Dead Island, aren't they?
This game will live or die by its storyline as I expect it could prove more than a little frustrating and repetitive if there's nothing to haul your sorry looking ass through it all. I do like the attention paid to logic the game has in that you're obviously more likely to find a paddle in a boat shop and a hammer in a garage so I hope that logic is more than rule rather than the exception.
