Game gets a 8/10 even though it has some flaws they seemed to enjoy it a lot even after 20 hours play which for me is music to my Ears

Looks like fun, but I think I would soon get bored. I might pick it up somewhere down the line if only for the 4 way co op, assuming you actually give it a good review that is.

From the looks of it you need to view the game as if you were looking at borderlands IMO, it looks kinda similar except the outside gameplay is different, seems similar concepts and such.
I wasnt impressed with IGN's review though, i get the feeling they arent telling the full story about how the game is (gameplay etc) and its flaws, Guesty would be disappointed

2 more reviews appeared, 1 from a PS3 italy place they give it 80 or 85 i forget and the other place was a czech place and give it 80, seems like 60 to <90 will probably be the bracket for the game (i'm pre-empting the inevitable no mark places that will have a whine about pop in and stuff).
So from the looks of it no means bad, best played in coop, otherwise enjoyable. Numerous places citing its like fallout 3 meets l4d. Personally I would have gone for dead rising 2 + l4d + borderlands

Most games i buy are bought with many reviews in mind so i do hope that it gets more positive reviews than negative

Another 8.5, loses points for story (do we really care? its not mass effect or deus ex) and a few bugs no mention of pop in textures but otherwise solid.
Seems like this might be a good purchase after all assuming you can occasionally pull in abit of company to help out with zombie killing and some light conversation.

Im looking forward to it Falcon and so far reviews have been pretty favourable so i am sold and pre/order has not been cancelled.
One thing i do hope they do with the future download content would be to give you a lot more guns and unlimited ammo..................That would be great ?
Would be a nice surprise if something like this was unlocked when the game gets completed.
imagine how much fun it would be just using some high powered guns,I know it's suppose to be up close and personal but I think it would be great to play through the game again fully loaded

Well may be its not Because Edge are seriously loosing a lot of cred in my books,lowest score i have seen so far is a 7 from Euro gamer which are another site known for average scores,but edge have actually given Dead Island a 3/10.
Resistance 3 mrnelster on the other hand is getting some really high scores across the board and if Edge has any credibility left and if what they say is true i may be spending a lot more time with Resistance than Dead Island.

They attack it for interface inconsistency and other [IMO] small bits, it IS actually stuff IGN and gametrailers mention, EDGE seem to slam it down heavily for it though take a read for yourself then check out the others around. Thats all they say, thats all their review is, whining.

The reviews of this game are all over the place,some giving it exceptional scores and others are scoring it quite low.
I hear there is a first day patch to put a few issues right though

Yup that does seem to be the issue with some of them, that the review build wasnt complete, but there is a day 1 patch which fixes most of it apparently. Other reasons for upset ive seen in a few is that it wasnt like februarys prerender trailer, i dont even know where to start on whats wrong with that...
IMO a good reviewer would state there was issues and if the dev intended to fix them and unless the game shown no signs of improvement THEN mark it down.
TBH the closest review ive seen for this game which is any where near "complete" is gametrailers.

You're right about big games and their review score, but I think mediocre is a little harsh.
BF3 it won't be. But a cinematic and immersive story driven plot is never a bad thing as far as I am concerned. It just depends what flavour you prefer your stories to come in.

BF3 will no doubt score highly, previous games scored highly and main stream media marked them down for lacking story. So it will be bound for a high one.
Res games though... I really wasnt impressed by it at all, neither were most of my friends who are massive ps3 fans.

if you forget the guns/gun sounds and don't expect leading edge visuals it will be q good action game in campaign mode. It just depends what genre you like. Resistance is as Sc-fi as I care to get. I like my aliens to be in humanish form. Crysis was great but I didn't really enjoy the story. Gears of war would be superb, but I don't get on well with third person and over shoulder games.
No. Resistance 3 is what it is and will keep me happy until the monolith that is BF3 (god I hope it's not over hyped!) arrives in October. Then MW3 in November.
I've been thinking of dropping the 5.1 headset idea and picking up a 360, but the Live subscription is the only sticking point at the moment.

I happily sacrifice perfect visuals for on screen action, the more bad guys at once the better. Just as long as it's not DNF visuals.
Dead Island appears to have wooden acting, and the hand on gun animation put me off a little. Looked a bit poor. An fps with good visuals can b ruined for me by little things like that. After all, that view is in your face all the time. Looks like an after the pub co-op game to me.

I gave up relying on magazines etc for reviews years ago. It's the same with people like What Hi-Fi they are paid off to promote equipment, you don't bribe them your product doesn't do well in the reviews, I imagine it's the same with games so I rely on you lot here

You pays your money you get your goods,that is more than likely why the xbox live service is far superior to the playstation one.
When you break it down its just pennies each day matey .
Just noticed that Shopto.net have just announced the Hardened Editions of MW3 which comes with a year subscription to the Elite package.
Oh well in for a Pennie in for a Pound and i better change my order to that one me thinks as i know once i get MW3 i will be wanting to try out the elite subscription.

I would only go for elite for the DLC. I won't have the time (or to be fair the inclination) for the community bit. The free time I get I want to spend playing. 
Also there might only ever be one map pack! Will check it out later if I dont have a surprise on the door mat when I get home.

Very true.
It's also difficult to appraise a review when comparing against some of the bigger games. The overall score is not as important as the individual ones.
BF3 getting 9.5 out of 10 for graphics for example, and resistance getting 7.5 wouldn't necessarily make it a terrible game.
That's why I wait for T2D to waste his money first.

I am getting slightly wiser though mate because there were times when i would buy anything that's a FPS that looked in the previews to be half decent..............
But i'm learning and Brink and the recently released Body Count have not had T2D money.............Some games you just know by previews and videos that that is the game for you ............MW3 and Battlefield don't need me to wait for reviews as they are ordered regardless..

I would imagine at the behest of the publisher like always.
The game has been in development for a few years now (IIRC mostly cause they swapped engines they announced it at the end of the last gen so totally reworked it for current + they built the chrome 5 engine)
I think initial buyers might encounter some roughness but console users should experience a fairly decent game.

Hahaha unfortunately I didnt get time to play though so you will be on a level par with me today
Regarding postman, I have EXACTLY the same problem, it's frustrating if I order a game that can't fit through the door i.e. collectors pack or just anything that can't fit through my door, I get the little card saying come before it shuts at 1pm, but the postman usually comes after it! Then as well as that the main office where I need to collect them is about 15 - 20 mins drive from my house / work and I only get 45 mins for my lunch so can't really do it in time and end up waiting until Saturdays! What a palava!! Lol

Well played it tonight for about 3 hours and i find the game very addictive and hard to put down,does not deserve the negative reviews and certainly not the Edge magazine score of 3/10 as that is a complete joke.
From what i have played so far i would give it at least a 8/10 and thats been mild,just love the way you rank up with so many quests and missions and zombie bashing has never been more fun.
People loved Dead Rising and i thought that game was pure pants,this is so much better and i can see me spending many hours playing this game,will pick up Resistance tomorrow but if i continue to enjoy this dead island as much as i am then i doubt very much if the plastic wrapper will come of for a fair few weeks.
Be interesting hearing about other peoples opinions that have the game like Jaxx ,since he has not posted anything so far tonight I'm guessing he is loving it like me.
Also I'm sure the guy in the lift who speaks to you as the game starts was the same guy from the original Bioshock......The voice acting is not that good and they all have Australian accents for some unknown reason,but at the end of the day its a really enjoyable game and I'm well pleased with it.
If people are expecting the same type of game as the trailer then they are in for a shock as its nothing like that and its best compared to fallout with Zombies with Borderlands thrown in for good measure with a small slice of left for dead and dead rising only 10 times better than the last game i mentioned.

I played an hour or two last night with a group of mates it was fun, we did run into a few technical issues but imo it doesnt look like anything too major, the most annoying was the ingame voip being always on, needed to shuffle some device defaults to stop it (we use our own mumble server with push to talk so we dont need the voip, especially if its always on).
But yeah, seems like a good laugh, heard the voice acting, its true its not stellar levels but i'd say it does a good enough job for all the people you need to speak too and the length you have to deal with them for (i.e get quest, hand quest in). I found the ambient sound though quite disturbingly realistic for some reason, it might just me being tired to but hearing those seagulls i thought damn its early for those things to be out, look outside and no seagulls, all ingame...
IMO i find it hard to compare the game with the feb trailer... I keep thinking if i did what would i be expecting? A more individual game? A more survivalist game? I dunno, only games i can think of when that happens is res evil 4 and i dont think anything can come close to that.
But yeah, so far a good laugh esp with mates

Been playing for a few hours not sure what I think! Enjoying bashing zombies but not so much the constant collecting and upgrading etc. Feel that it slows the gameplay down a bit! Been playing with 2 other friends done quite a lot of sidequests maybe I need to do more of the story and see if it grips me! I like the graphics when you look out over the island it looks nice! Not found too many bugs as of yet but seen a few glitches! Will keep playing for a day or so and see how I get in I think.

Done alot more of the main story now and it has me hooked, loving the knives and scythes
