Re: Aircraft in BF3

A really good in depth review. Thanks. smile

I particularly agree with this bit.
If they pull off the fixes and changes that have been talked about then it'll easily replace BF3 for me.

Without a doubt I will still play BF3 to some extent. But I think if the new support streak packages and stuff live up to their intended purpose, it will be impossible not to prioritise MW3.

But the BF3 server bowser for consoles will ensure I don't drop it all together.
.

Knowing how it works is completely different to understanding how it works.

I had already turned off upnp because it used to cause me to crash in BC2 - apparently it is a problem with BeThere (or more likely the router they use) but I haven't had that issue so maybe I should count myself lucky smile

Forget the map, but the conquest one with B inside the mountain, the side corridors invariably people lay down at each end, one noob had a laser sight so sent a round or two to get kill.

Tactical lights tend to receive an RPG, eventually people turn them off, and after a few planes get took down they stop using them

On the squad, dont play with voice chat, too many people playing with mic open and music playing, but try to watch and assist where I can, e.g. cover someone heading down an alley, jumping in a vehicle and waiting a few seconds at the base to see if others jump in

Had one game where I enjoyed using my stinger and when expended, laid my mines and then chased around the conquest sites following other players.

I would challenge you to that, I love the engineers who think they rock with their stingers and heat seeker rockets only for my super jet to take their heat then spin round and give them a face full of metal smile

I think once you get the hang of the jets and you can fly them well then it is hard to be taken down, but it's not great for points. On conquest I average about 6 - 8k points per game but if I hang around in a plane for most of it I get half that due to not capturing / defending areas.

The torches are annoying and it will be interesting to see if they change it, on that particular map you mentioned though inside the mountain is the ideal time to use a torch. It's the players who use them outside in daylight that annoy me, but if it's a level in the dark and you are in a tight area then it can be very beneficial. I don't die as much to the torch players now though, it's pretty easy to know where they are "behind the torch" when you have been doing it for a while plus if you're well covered you should be able to take them out anyway.

Not met a pilot other than helicopter who has challenged me when being a shoulder mounted devil.

Flares make it hard, but figure if I interfere with a gun run then it has helped out. Usually three stingers to get a downed aircraft.

Ah see I am much better in the jets than the choppers, not much of a fan of the choppers at the moment used to love them on BC2 but doesn't seem to be many good ones available.

Yea that's it, it's not neccessarily about getting the kill but everything else that comes with it. I did get taken down pretty quick last night by 2 jets and a stinger, if you're playing with a good team who can support from the ground it's a lot easier but alas this was 1am and all my friends were asleep.

Think the only way I'm going to end up with Battlefield 3 mate is if MW3 turns out to be a complete waste of time and money and i just don't think this will happen.

Both Battlefield and MW3 require a huge investment in time spent playing it trying to unlock stuff and ranking up and if I'm totally honest i am only interested in one game and even if i thought Battlefield was a great game i know what i would be spending all my time on.

If Battlefield was released about 2 months ago i dare say i would have really tried to get into it and given it more chance and a lot more time.

But all these game releases within weeks of each other i have decided to leave Battlefield 3 like the many that will more than likely do the same with MW3.

You see i know what I'm getting with MW and i know what i like and if i don't like MW3 then it will be a major shock

I really don't know how I'm going to find the time to play all these games but the thought of passing on Saints Row 3rd,Skyrim, and the new Zelda is to much of a temptation to resist and another reason why i never picked up Battlefield 3.

Normally i would say i would pick it up in the new year or around Christmas but with the games i mentioned i dont think it will be necessary and i am hoping MW3 keeps me occupied for months and months like the previous two games with a little light entertainment between with Saints Row wink

When you look at the content that MW3 has with the single player game.then Spec Ops Missions and also Survival mode that is worth the £40 alone, then you have all the online multiplayer stuff and the usual modes but with added others like Kill Confirmed then this game alone will keep be busy for ages.
