I know many of you guys love BF3, but for me it's going to the trade in bin next week.
I've tried to love it too, I really have. But the reality is with a super low ping it's not very playable at all. I thought the server browsers would be the answer, but they are not real server browsers on the PS3. Just a deceitful way of naming a screen that let's you choose which map you want to play.
Is MW3 any less laggy? Probably worst to be honest. But at least I don't have to run for 1 minute to get back to the action every time I die (which is far too often!). And it has special ops and private MP to lessen the frustration.
Oh, and did I mention how badly the BF3 controls suck?

Is there any co-operative element to Skyrim?

Fine on PC.

Yes if you imagine the NPC's are real people too.
Saints Row has co op.

Saints row 3 is a right laugh and a hell of a lot of fun, don't expect top notch graphics as they are average at best for this type of game.
But in the case of Saints Row its not about graphics just all the stuff you can do in a wide open world.
Only played a few hours but its really a engrossing game and i can spend 30 minutes just changing the character or clothes .
With this and the mighty Zelda and MW3 i have plenty to keep me busy..........Keep it quite i even traded Skyrim for 360 version of Battlefield 3 still in the wrapper. but don't tell Spook

Still waiting for tesco entertainment to despatch my pre-ordered copy of saints row. There is one retailer I won't be using again.
|
|
|
Best online retailer by far matey is SHOPTO not only are they the best but in the 3 years i have been using them i have never had a game turn up late with 99.9% of them turning up a day early and on some occasions 2 days early. .
So if your looking for reliability then look no further.they my not be the cheapest but they are exceptional for despatching goods.

thinking I wished I gotten the 360 version of bf3 Just cannot get this mouse and keyboard licked k/d ratio is lets just say I spend most of my time spawning

I hated Skyrim Jorkilla and i have everything else so it was a toss up between the new assassins revelations game and Battlefield so since i am a lover of FPS then there was only one choice to be made.
If i like it and i keep it then that will be the surprise of the year but i hate keeping games i dislike and don't interest me such as Skyrim.
I can understand why people love this type of game but try as i might i just can not get into games this deep.

lot more skill needed on PC versions

Ah ha! So you've finally given in.
Only thing I would say is a lot of us here have found BF3 tough going at first so you've gotta break the pain barrier before you start to properly have fun and, as Mr G says above, not just respawn all the time.
Essentially, it's gonna take a bit of grinding first. If you can handle that, then welcome to a real man's game.
Shame about Skyrim - I am liking it a lot and I'm not alone. I've actually not played BF3 since I got it so will continue to be pwnd until I re-immerse myself back into the game and get used to it once more.
Yeah, co-op in Skyrim consists of having companion NPCs that take the brunt of the attacks against you and lug your loot back home for you. So, better than reality even!

Still get the odd map and game that are spawn fests, if you get a squad that works well i.e. attempts to work together then is better.
The conquest map with the skydive, my speciality is blowing holes in outer compound walls to create multiple entry points. Though need to hide from snipers in the hills

skill in using mouse and keyboard yes Think I`m going to have to change from WSAD on the keyboard it just does not suit me in this fast paced action. Going to go back to the cursor keys
|
|
|
I used to use the arrow keys myself but had changed to WASD
Might investigate seeing how I can map using the arrow keys. I find with WASD I can end up hitting the wrong key a bit too often, especially now that games tend to need keys for going prone, throwing grenades etc.
|
|
|
|
Its how I always played many years ago along with the configuring the extra mouse buttons.
|
|
|
I use arrow keys. All my friends that I play with think I am a bit 'special' for using them but I don't mind seeing as my SPM is well over 500 and there is only 1 guy who is better than me in our clan so it can't be that detrimental to my play
|
|
|
Tell them to stop focusing on what buttons they use and instead focus on the game, maybe then they can challenge your SPM
|
|
|
I used to use arrow keys also but got cajoled into switching to WASD.
Only converted when I got my first Z-Board though as, despite there being many more keys to configure surrounding the WASD keys, it just didn't feel right until the keys were all properly up-down of each other (if you understand what I'm trying to say).
Can't say I can blame my keyboard for playing so poorly though. That said, my aim? Now that's another matter entirely.

be interested to know what buttons you use for: jump, crouch, prone, melee/knife, grenades etc
|
|
|
Very possibly ones you have to press.

I have kind of developed a set of keys that are broadly similar across games so it might not be the most intuitive set up but it is as follows:
r-ctrl = crouch
r-shift = jump
enter = boost (in vehicles)
end = enter/exit
page down = reload
insert = grenade (or flares in vehicles)
home = spot
page up = prone
MMB = knife
mouse 4 = fire mode selector
mouse 5 = change view
Things like chat I have moved to Y, U (team) + I (squad) but I started online gaming with TFC/counter-strike so Y/U are natural to me.
Things like map/map zoom stay as M/N (not that important).
Scores stay as tab (I can look when I am dead or the round ends - I am not one of these scoreboard addicts).
change seats stays as F keys (not that important).
change guns = scroll wheel.
Delete would be voice comms in game if such a thing existed://
Backspace is my talk in teamspeak 3 button.
You might have to bear in mind that I am 6'3 and have big hands that a tall person might have so for me it is no real stretch to get to these keys. I do have to make sure that the keyboards are arranged correctly - no gap between up and end is horrible. and I have seen some have the insert bunch of keys in a 2x3 arrangement rather than 3x2 and again I couldn't use it. A laptop keyboard would be hell for me too!

thats similar to what I think I used to have, going to go back to cursor keys, right now I feel impotent using WSAD
Had a quick blast and feels much better, still got to do some more key binding but so far not bad.
