Games that blew you away ?

Hey up chaps i thought i would see how many of us gamers remember what Games really had a impact on our lives since we started gaming........

In other words what games truly inspired you as instant classics,matters not how far back you go but i am going to try and list games at the time that really pleased me.

Since my memory is not what it was i may add others over the coming days and the games i list are not in any particular order but the fact that each and everyone of them i have completed and spent many hours with and had a awful lot of fun.

So i will start with what i think influenced most FPS of today but sadly they have not in my opinion made a decent game since [Ask Microsoft] They bought them and it was probably there biggest mistake to date.

Retail Games Only.......Ok

Here Goes.........

Goldeneye [Rare] Nintendo 64

Quake 3 arena [ID software] Sega Dreamcast on a 56k dial up with only 4 players with hardly any lag and my friend and i at the time played nothing else.

Zelda Orcania in time [nintendo] Nintendo 64

MW 1 [infinity Ward] [Playstation 3] For me the classic of the series

Wave race 64 [nintendo 64]

1080 snowboarding [N64] i know i don't do sports sims but this was another quality buy at the time and again my friend and i spent months beating each others trick scores.

Red Dead Redemption [playstation 3] Pure class from start to finish.

Tempest 2000 [Atari Jaguar] and the only reason to own the console.......Period

Call of Duty [United Offensive expansion pack] [pc] Spent years playing this on our own servers and some of the best gaming times of my life]

Rez [Sega] [Playstation 2] Just loved the music inspired shooter with a really cool dance type backing tracks.

Uncharted Series [Naughty Dog] [playstation 3] One of the best RPG around.

Dead Space[Playstation 3] Think they nailed the tension and Fear and showed Resident Evil How to do it.

These are just a few of perhaps 100 i could name over the years but at present its late im tired and i am sure others will mention games that i would have added to my list if the brain was working.

I could name 100s of games i liked but the list i have mentioned are games that sort of kept me from going to bed,games that you say...........Just another level ,or just another 30 minutes but you keep on and on.

Okay, only going back as far as the original playstaton for now then.

Grand Theft Auto 3, San Andreas, IV (not VC)
Max Payne (1) on PC

More recently, games that didn't exactly rock the world but were pretty good in places:
Boiling Point (PC) well I just wanted to give this an honourable mention... can't think of anything else right now, I'm knackered too. Too many too remember!

The original Sonic the Hegdehog - Sega Master system
Knight Lore - Spectrum or Master system or both? can't remember! (There were sequels as well though I can't remember the names).
Driven to Destruction - PS2
Conflict: Desert Storm - PS2
Resident Evil 1 & 2
Colin McCrae Rally 1 & 2
Black - PS2
TimeSplitters - PS2
COD 4 MW -PS3
Read Dead Redmption - PS3
Uncharted 3 - PS3

There are many more, but these are the ones I remember not being able to put down at midnight.

Yeah Just cause 2 that turned up out of nowhere and was a great game was it not,must get that out again sometime Spook and play that as i love the destruction and explosions in that game because they look really cool.

Playing through Prototype at present as i need a little destruction.

Just Cause 2 was ok... I really liked it at first but it got seriously repetitive unfortunately. Not to mention the 3 factions you had to work for were just... really [censored]:/

Games I remember from when I young:
Choplifter
Burn out
Super Mario (one of the first ones on the NES)

Moving on a bit:
The Settlers
Civilisation - civ III is possibly my favourite but I remember playing the first at a friends house and owning II for the psx!
C&C. RA2 possibly my favourite (then generals) but the original was awesome and pulled me into the genre.
Micro machines
Super Mario Kart for the SNES - 4 player goodness!
psx time:
GTA (original - the reason I bought a psx in the first place)
Colin Macrae Rally
Final Fantasy VII (and IX). VII is still one of my all time favourite games.
Metal Gear Solid (Meryl with the ass wiggling about... mmmm)
Goldeneye (obviously not psx but my bro had an N64 and it was a truly awesome game.

Onto PC times:
Half-life - such a good game and then I discovered TFC. such fun. Then found CS (still in beta then) and still dip into cs:source now
Rome:TW - I really like empire too but Rome is still the daddy. Hopefully come Christmas we might see Rome#2.
Deus Ex
BF2 - although I owned 1942 it was BF2 that I got hooked on. Am a bit hooked on BF3 now but not anything like I was with BF2...
Unreal Tournament - never really played any after the original which was ace.
Max Payne
SWAT4

More recently...
CoD4 - very much the best of the series.
Assassin's Creed II
Dead Space

Half of my list has come from reading what you guys have put! I am sure there are loads that I have forgotten...

Half life 2 another classic i forgot about but then again i could ramble on for ages and there are many more games that have enlightened my life not on the list yet.

They don't have to be mind blowing but games that you really enjoyed .

Super Mario 64 would be another one on my list along with the retro developed Metroid Prime which i have already mentioned.

Could also add ICO and Shadow of colossus to a ever expanding list.

Yeah, I forgot about choplifter and micro machines, and would add them onto my list.

Goldeneye split screen multiplayer big head mode (played on a neighbours N64) was hilarious when stalking your opponent through buildings!

no mention of Quakeworld and the Painkeep mod or Quake3 - Chase The Chicken
