Well like many I guess I played the Witcher last fortnight and was so pleased with the PC port to the console.
I think CDPROJEKT did a fantastic job on it.
Was wondering what your thought`s were on this ?
Did you enjoy it?,or did you think it fell short of your expectations?.
The Witcher 2

My only problem with it was that it was hard to tell when I was progressing that I would cut off side quests which made my game much shorter. Game can be really hard which is nice if you are after a good challenge.

Got this on order from Play.com. Had it on order for a few weeks now actually. I'm really looking forward to it as I've read many good things.
I didn't go for the first Witcher as it looked too complicated and I only really like proper FPS style attack methods not point and click to attack kind of thing. So, with Witcher 2 offering a more Skyrim type attack mode then I'm looking forward to immersing myself in the Witcher world.
Lots of good additional content to download (PC version) so I reckon it's gotta be a bit of a bargain. I hope!

If you were to go into your menu on the game you can highlight the quest you want to do which makes it a little easer to follow.
The story was what pulled me into the Witchers world although at times it can can overly deep, although I found by reading the the biography`s on the places and people in the games menu did and will help you understand a little bit better.
I would have loved the combat mechanics a lot more if they were more like Dark Souls, but again it was just a learning curve and adapting to the change.
I played the game solid for 2 week and have seen 5 different endings to the game, there is loads of gaming devs out there who claim your choices will effect your world but very rarely do we see this happen (Mass Effect III )anyone.
But in the case of the Witcher every play through is different, its like two games in one as you will need to play it twice to get both sides of the tail.
For those of you still thinking about playing this or are waiting to play it then you are truly in for a treat.

Tell me about it! I guess when I ordered it I hadn't realised it was out of stock at the time. I chose Play as I'm a cheap ass and they were lowest price at the time (£11.99).
I also ordered Mass Effect 3 from HMV at the same time and I still haven't had an update to that. Same thing happened. It was £14.99 there when I ordered.
Just as well I'm not impatient and can wait for it.

You know it doesn't matter which edition you get? They are all the same minus the fluff in the collector type edition. DLC is free and the 2.0 patch applies to all builds. :>
Yep, I did my research bud. Enhanced edition and all that. You can, as you say, get all that for f.r.e.e.! Nice of CD Projekt to release it for all (a good developer if ever I saw one). If it was Activiision or EA, we'd have to sign up for a 12 month elite subscription or something. Looking forward to it but I really do have to get some kind of desk first as playing the PC from the sofa isn't easy!
Your funny Spook Elite subscription ........who would of thought it and what idiots would do that..........Oh dear ME
One of the perks of gaming on the PC, old boy! How did that Elite package work out for you btw? Have Activision actually released anything worth having through it yet?
I'm basically a cheapskate mate, so having a PC kinda works out that way. Therer's a ton of mods for Skyrim I can go and look at that are both beautfiul and totally free of charge. Only thing is you do get a bit of a sore bum from sitting up at a desk all day so I gotta work that one out when I do actually buy one. If I were any good with carpentry and the like, I'd design a sofa/armchair desk that you could basically swing a monitor and keyboard+mouse tray over when you needed it but I'm not so it's gonna have to be a desk and bum numbing chair instead.

Basically its a stats page when it works, the only thing thats decent is you dont pay for the downloadable content released over the 8 month period.
What i have downloaded i would not call classy anyway, maps in my opinion are poorly designed and i will opt out of this if Black Ops 2 dont meet the grade.
Saying that i had a little fun playing survival mode in MW3 last night with a interesting person who actually sounded a little grown up.
Makes all the difference when you play as a team and there are no idiot teen kids connecting which by all accounts is most of the time.
Took me about 10 games to find a decent player and one that was actually using a microphone, dont get online team work with 90% of people not using microphones.
Played the Ghost recon future soldier beta and if there were 2 teams each with 6 players i doubt more than 2 had microphones, and with a game like this its absolutely essential.

I am getting too confused. MW3? COD4? I keep forgetting which is which and what came first.
Cod 4 is basically MW1 [I think] but I'm talking about the latest MW3 released last november ............
Ah yes. Of course.

I've enjoyed Witcher 2 but it got overtaken by Skyrim and The Old Republic etc.
Talking of paying for stuff, I was reflecting just now (while sitting on the loo!) how much money I've spent on gaming over the years. Several wheels, many cards, gaming keyboards, three computers, at least two mags every month, a game or two every month (and I gotta have the Collector's edition with t-shirt, cloth maps and soundtrack CD... none of which I look at once I've got them)... I've got games that are still in their shrink-wraps...
If I hadn't been a gamer for the past 30 years, I'd literally have a Ferrari California on the drive (as my gf is happy to point out whenever I disappear to 'check my emails' lol)

Haha. Yeah, I know what you mean. Old T2D is a bit like you. I bet he'd probably be able to buy a helicopter and a pilot if somebody gave back all the money he's spent on gaming over the years.
Myself, I've spent a fair bit too. All those computer upgrades and like you, I've got a lot of games that are still waiting to be played.
My biggest money draining hobby is actually photography I think. At least, I think so, as you can never be too sure with all the little purchases here and there catching up with you. Gaming, films and photography. They're my chief vices money wise right now. And the reason I'm so skint at the minute.
My copy of Witcher 2 is sat on my PC waiting for me to install it. It's a shame it doesn't run on Mac (and my macbook ain't powerful enough to run it) as I'd much rather be sat here on the couch.
Welcome back to the gaming forum then Decani. You must've been away a while then as I don't remember seeing you before. Mind you, I am sporadic myself and can go off for long leaves of absence so there ya go.

Sounds like my brother don't he Spooky Baby, 2 games every month [phew] thank god he never said a game every week as i was getting worried i had some serious competition
On that Note my order of Max Payne 3 is on route as we speak .........Whoopee
Helicopter...........You having a laugh or what.......Thinking more down the lines of a Boeing 747 fully equipped with a sauna a gym..........
Haha. Yeah, that's right. It'd have to be a 747 or something. What was I thinking. I was seriously underestimating your devotion to gaming then. And a sauna too! Lots of stewardesses too of course and champagne jacuzzis, lots of caviar and all that kind of thing. But you chose gaming instead. Like only a true gamer would.
Damn internet has been playing havoc for me since some BT bozo broke my line. Could hardly get online today. Was on for the time it took me to post once and that was it. Gawd knows how long it'll be up now before it goes off again.
Anyway, I am jealous. Max Payne 3 on its way to your letter box (by chopper of course). I'm gonna have to wait a while. But at least we get your review first though I have to say, this time, you're not gonna have to trade it in within 5 minutes of loading it up. The game looks pretty class enough to me.
I have read the reviews and seriously there is no way this will get traded [its a keeper] as Gold member Austin Powers would say] .
The only negative things i have read from gamers in America that had it yesterday and a Midnight launch is the break in the game play, not all are complaining but it seems Rockstar have cleverly implemented cut scenes into the gameplay to sort of hide the loading screens and certain people don't like them.
Its a 3rd person Bullet feast what is there not to like, then when finished we have arcade mode and minute mode and a massive multiplayer.........Bring it on Spooky Baby
Should be with me Thursday Hopefully, and a Quick Blast and the some quick thoughts and impressions from T2D.

Apart from gaming, music is the other drain, keyboards synths and every DAW you can buy
The good thing with the music is that its more than a hobby and actually pays for the games  so I just gotta keep with it!
Max is back. Yeah, bring it on baby!

Hey cool. What kind of music do you create?
I've been learning about film and editing lately and having backing music is certainly a boon but it's expensive so if you can create it yourself that's awesome.
It'd be nice if I could get more competitive and make some money out of photography but I can be doing without the stress. Most I made out of it is some free grub from local restaurants in exchange for my services (such as they are).
Well, I do post-production, so although I create music as a hobby, what pays the rent can be anything and everything. For the past coupla months, I've been putting together some great compilations of Latin music, but I also edit and master classical music. I also have several singer/songwriter clients as well as producing recordings of stage shows for Hackney Empire Music Trust among others. I'm not into rap or hip-hop or trance, so don't put myself out for that...
Plus, I have worked on major Hollywood movies, SFX, music etc. (bits of Harry Potter, but I did a lot on Reign of Fire with Patrick Bale and Matthew MacConaughey, that was a great blast, I even stood in for Matthew, well his voice anyway!)
So, I don't find as much time for games as I'd like, but they're a major part of my leisure time, such as it is....
Free grub sounds like a great way to maximise your hobby...

Yeah, it's amazing the doors a large professional looking camera can open for you!
What you do for a living sounds really cool. I haven't seen Reign of Fire but I love my Harry Potter films and especially the musical score. I've even got some of the music (well, Hagrid's theme) on a classical compilation (classic fm stuff).
With my neighbour's help, I put together some music to my title credits to my (first) doc the other month (for the first time). My neighbour is an ace on the drums and has an amazing talent at producing sound from tapping just about anything. In exchange for some rice from the local Chinese we did some filming together of him tapping away on his kitchen work surfaces, fridge etc and then I edited it together using a lessoning of his disapproval (tuts and grunts) as to when it sounded reasonably ok to him. If you'd like to sample it and let me know what you think I'd be grateful for the views (my link skips to the title credits as the docu itself is very rough and probably a bit boring for those not interested in adult education).
