Was there any doubt this would not be a quality game despite the moans about the interrupted game play while the game shows cut scenes whilst loading.
Quality ,Quality,Quality a Rockstar Gem and 3rd person gaming at the highest honour, the bullet time and slow mo kills are brilliant and a little like Red Dead Redemption only you can actually freeze the kill cams and slow down time even more and put a few more bullets into the villains as you do so.
From the moment the intro kicks in you know that you have purchased a Quality game that is not going to disappoint.only played the first 2 chapters and its everything and more i wanted in this game, there is a lot of break up in the action but when the gun play kicks in its done in a truly exceptional way that has the hallmark of Rockstar Games.
Apparently its a 10/12 hour game and i have not touched the surface and i had to post quickly how brilliant this game is and i have not touched nothing but a small portion of the single player game.
Other options open on single player completion like arcade mode and Minute mode, then we have what i can only guess will be a addictive multiplayer mode also.
Got any reservations about picking this up then put them out of your head completely because just 40 minutes in this game is pure class.
Not going to go into it to much, firstly because i have not really played through much and secondly it may spoil it for others.
What you will want to know its everything Max Payne should be but with Rockstar added touch of class.......Superb

Rockstar delivered the goods then. Quality as ever. Good on 'em.
|
|
|
Its highly polished Spooky Baby and the presentation is top notch but when its from the makes of Red Dead Redemption did we really think this would be a poor game...........Narrrh
Can not wait until later tonight to carry on playing and i literally had to drag myself away from the television this afternoon as i was that hooked, just another section /chapter and then i will stop so it seemed at the time.
More than likely given it about 3 hours now and its brilliant and i love it.

Finished the Game and i have to say its one of the best experiences i have ever had in any game, the gun fights are superb and the set pieces lovely to look at.
Its everything i expected and when a game has me playing sessions of around 4 to 5 hours at a time you know that this game has me gripped and its difficult to turn of.
Will start multiplayer over the weekend but i will also revisit single player because in my opinion its worth it because its that good.
I just hope Multiplayer is implemented well and works and does the single player game justice, from what i have heard regarding multiplayer people think is pretty dam good.

I'll give you £10 for your copy

I picked it up over the weekend too and I am about 3 missions from the end so going to finish it up this evening. I absolutely love it, it's like watching a film and playing a game at the same time. I have read a few comments online with people saying they don't like all the cutscenes but that's part of the game lol and the story is brilliant.
I bought it to be entertained and it certainly does that well, like you say it is very well polished, the graphics look great on the Xbox particularly levels like the favela's the detail is really nice. The slow motion is a great feature, watching the bullets fly past you is really neat.
Looking forward to starting multiplayer later in the week, my friend also has it so we are going to try this "Rockstar Crew" thing that is new for Max Payne. Basically sounds a bit like guilds in the game you can join a friends crew and get other friends involved and go around fighting other crews etc.

Single player game is great experience Jaxx but to be honest the multiplayer is very much like uncharted and im not totally sold, its fun but how long it will grab my attention is questionable ?
Think looking at Far Cry 3 it has a better online experience and far better potential to keep me coming back.
Will still play Max Payne online as there are a few modes for me to try out and since im only on Rank 7 out of 50 then things might be a little different with better guns and perks.
Only thing i don't like about the online is the way the character moves which looks a little wooden and weird ?
The ending is hard .........Be warned ?

I think I will grab this when it hits the £25 mark or second hand. Sounds good fun.
The trouble is there is so much to come in the autumn again, I think there will be a few second handers on my radar. I want to pick up Ghost Recon but not for the multiplayer and possibly the same with Prototype 2 and I'm still hoping to pick Bioshock before Infinite arrives, though that may be delayed.
Not enough time in the day for me!!

|
Dont think you will be seeing £25 for max payne mate for quite a long time, the last of us is not scheduled for a release until 2013 some time so i would forget about that game.
Prototype 2 is a great game so check that out and Ghost Recon is another to consider.
|
|
|
I would be more inclined to pay full price for Ghost recon because of the co-op mode. A mate of mine is fired up for co-op so I may pick just that up instead.

You can get Prototype 2 for about £17 on eBay I got it a couple of weeks ago Max Payne is currently £32.99 in Tesco that's the most aggressive I have seen it.
T2D, I didn't finish it last night haha, I am stuck on the level with all the tremors! It's pretty tough, I keep getting killed by the guy with the big minigun standing on the platform after you have worked your way round the rooftops. Didn't get much time to spend on it last night though so hopefully I can crack that part this evening how horrific is the story! Without ruining it for anyone here I was really surprised by some of the things that have unfolded in it...!

I finished it after a couple of days of release because i was totally addicted to the game and i thought it was brilliant, however been the old codger that i am now becoming i can not remember someone with a mini gun as you say Jaxx.
What chapter is that on as when you finish the game you can play through in Minute mode or arcade mode and revisit all the levels,so tell me what chapter it is and i will replay it ok. .
Just read your post over again and i see you mention tremors,I'm starting to examine my sanity as i don't recall them either.
Sure we are talking about the same game here or what
Im sure we are Jaxx but it don't say a lot about how the story gripped me when i can not remember two points about a level you have made.
Remember the last level for sure as it took me about 25 attempts to get through it.

Haha it is mission 12 I believe mate once you have worked your way up the abandoned hotel and then you're running along the rooftops and the screen is bouncing all over the place when there is a tremor and it knocks the guards off their feet.
You start off and there is a chopper in front of you with about 6 guys, I kill them then you run along and a guy comes out you kill him and carry on round and up a ramp where there are 2 guys. You kill them and you go through to the next part and when you step forward 3 guys appear above you. After you kill them it cuts to a clip of a guy in lots of armour with a big minigun appearing above you and he is the git that keeps killing me lol. I freeze time during the tremors to not lose balance and fire a ruck of bullets into his head and he still doesn't fall. I see a lot of people online say they struggled with it too.
What difficulty are you playing it on? I am tempted to drop it down but I have got this far now I really don't want to as there are only 14 missions!

I'm waiting for max payne to hit £25 as well, also waiting for UC3 to get to a sensible price
|
|
|
Played it on normal matey and i am now playing it all over because i had not collected all the Golden gun parts, now my poor mind remembers a little about the mini gun but i will check it out later.
If you think thats tough god help you when you get to the airport Final .......
|
|
|
Yea I have been collecting the golden gun parts too, I have only got 3 completed weapons so far I think or maybe 4, they are pretty cool though. Once I have completed it I will go back through and get all the little bits I have missed I think, although I am not sure how I have missed some of them as I thought I was pretty thorough

I bought UC3 for £25.99 from Sainsbury's six months ago after T2D tipped me off. For that money it was bargain of the year for me, and only a couple of months after release.

Joking apart matey it was that price from the first week they had it in as they really tried to undercut everyone else and it was one of those gaming special deals at the time.
Only at the time and me not waiting until day of release as i use shopto as you know i did not see it until a few days later.
