....info/visuals on:
1. The Last of Us
2. The Last Guardian (if it's still around)
3. BLOPS 2
4. Far Cry 3
5. Dead Space 3
And as a bit of a sleeper, I would like to learn a bit about Sleeping Dogs.

I want a announcement that the next generation of games consoles will be out in 2013 with some really nice specifications .
Far Cry 3 out in August and i have ordered the special edition and like you the Last Guardian seems to have had development problems .
Bioshock 3 is another i am waiting on along with quite a few more that i can not remember at present.
On another note went to see Prometheus last night and as expected the production values were exceptional but as a film its a 5/10 for me .
Wont say why as some may still want to see it but Prequel it is and last night i watched the all time classic Alien on television and 30 years on with all the advanced technology i expected a lot more from Ridley.

Reminds me of Event Horizon. A well made film with great story potential, but unfortunately it never quite reached it. I left the cinema feeling decidedly unmoved.

I left the cinema thinking why did i bother
Just like games the Hype trail failed miserably and it had so much potential to instil some fear and suspense and really take it up a step to the best and first in the series but it fails to deliver.
Dont get me wrong the cinematic are breathtaking but we needed to see aliens even though it was a prequel, sadly we are left with a lovely cinematic experience of a very high standard but little interest in the film sadly and what i expected to be Alien Part 2 directed by a truly awesome director.
You watch the trailers and think oh my god that looks impressive just like so many games time and time again, yet so many fail and this in my opinion is no different.

Prometheus is just set in the same univerese its not a prequal to alien at all, so comparing it to alien is pointless.
Its ment to be a completely different film and it was very well done, some parts of script could have been better but overall a well done film- hence the gd reviews.

|

Think you should take a look at metacritic because i don't see many good reviews, besides Ridley himself said it was a prequel to his first film and the last 10 minutes you can see that by some of the things that happen and what you actually see when they first discover the space ship in the original Alien.
|
|
|
|
Look at Rotten tomatoes alot more reviews of which most are positive, the film is more about the space jockey rather then the 'alien'. their are links to alien but is a seperate film in the same universe.
Alot of people where wanting a prequal to alien, this is a departure and delivers something else. If their is a another film then prehaps we shall see a true prequal to alien.
|
|
|
Hope so because it sure would be good with todays advanced technology and special effect artists them aliens would look really mean

Yes, but what I'd like to know is does it make you jump out of your seat? A suspense/horror genre film should ratchet up the tension and then jump out on you. That's what the Alien films did well and films like Event Horizon didn't. If it scares the pants off you with the right timing, then I will be very keen to see it.
And as you are here, what do you want from E3?
|
|
|
|
Doesnt really make u jump out of your seat, is worth seeing at the cinema as its something different.
As for what i would like to see from E3, nothing in particular just going to see what this week brings, E3 is not the show it used to be, victim of its own success as so many companies dont need to come as their big enough.

You can add Dishonored (sic) as it's looking quite good.
Like Timey, I am most of all looking forward to some proper info about the true next-gen consoles. I'm kinda expecting some sort of surprise announcement from someone like Apple or Samsung or someone, stepping into the ring with their own media-gamestation thing.
Gaming revenue from the traditional console/pc market is too big to leave to just Sony and Microsoft. Yeah, I hadn't forgotten Nintendo but I think their Wii U is a big mistake, a total mess, though I'd be happy to be proven wrong as I want to see them become giants once more just like they were back in the good old Sega days. More competition has got to be good?
EDIT:

Totally agree Mr Spook regarding the Wii U which looks again like a machine aimed at the kiddie/Gimmick Market with a Ipad Sized controller and specifications that are no more powerful than the 6 year old xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Not impressed in the slightest with Nintendo and the only way i would even consider buying one would be a Metroid Game developed by Metroid Prime developers Retro and a Fantastic new Zelda game but with proper voice acting instead of pages of dribble.
I saw a game about 3 weeks ago that people were talking quite highly about then watched a clip and thought to myself dont like the look of this, then i watched a few more clips the last few days and thought i must order this it looks like a lot of fun..........That game Lollipop Chainsaw released in a few weeks.
Dishonored looks good Spooky but i think given who develops it a little to deep for my liking, actually went and got a copy of the Playstation exclusive Starhawk the other day,can not find this game in hardly any game store for some strange reason or not,had a quick go and its pretty decent, the multiplayer is were its at apparently but i have not ventured there yet.

Looks incredible! Nice title for a game too. Reminds me of a film I watched just recently on the tv, The Road, with Viggo Mortensen. The film was boring as hell and extremely negative and life zapping but the visuals were really good and you couldn't escape the ultra bleak atmosphere. Actually, it was the atmosphere that ruined it in comparison to other post-apocalyptic movies like I am Legend. Anyhow, I digress.
Obviously, unless that little girl in The Last of Us can come up with lots of new lines then it's gonna get pretty repetitive the 10th time she says something. That's the problem with selective gameplay trailers like these: they look great and cinematic - you are really part of a film. And then just as quick you are slapped out of it when characters just repeat the same inane situational responses (over and over again). Yargh!

Haha. Too true. That game takes things to a whole new (low) level but it is at least quite innovative if a bit crazy. I wonder how many young guys are going to want to play it knowing they've effectively got a boyfriend in the game (albeit a talking head)? Could be the ultimate psychotherapy for some of 'em.

Lets just hope its better than that gutter Trash Neverdead with the rolling body parts, must be one of the worse games i have ever had the misfortune of playing.

Yeah, definitely looks tacky that one. Never actually played it myself, of course. Nice um, visuals. Ooh derrire!
Hadn't realised there'd already been a similar game to Lollipop already so maybe not so innovative afterall. Gameplay looked pretty dire in Neverdead actually. Not a good omen perhaps.

And this sucker bought it Spooky Baby God you should have seen my face when i loaded it,its actually the quickest turn around/exchange in the history of gaming.....
Bought it from Blockbusters at about 11am one morning as i thought i would give it a chance [gaming drought] and within 30 minutes i had traded it back.
Good thing is the guy in Blockbuster gave me full compensation so it cost me nothing to have another game instead of the usual £25 you get for a trade in on a new game.

Ha. He took mercy upon you! Must've been bad then!! Shame they didn't do that with the Duck of Death, old Dukem Pukem! But I suppose you didn't get that there did ya?
Don't do it Timey mate; wait for some other sucker to buy that Lollipop game before taking a bite yourself!

The Last Of Us Looks really good mate. Very much like Uncharted in appearance, so hopefully it will handle similarly (though probably without the UC humour!).
Did we get any idea of a release date?

Now that is what I call a trailer SPOOK! Love the theme of oppression running through it and the mix of swords and technology. Sort of 19th century post apocalyptic if you like.
I could be tempted by that.

Sorry I am a bit late into this one but I also saw Prometheus at the weekend and I agree I thought visually it was stunning but the script was a bit shoddy and the acting wasn't all that. Really liked the chap who played the cyborg who is in Magneto in the most recent X-Men, he was good but the captain and his crew was pretty poor. That one line "you were never a great captain anyway" urgh CHEESE!
I think if you are a massive sci fi fan you will like it no matter what, if you are a massive alien fan you will like it no matter what. I can't say I didn't enjoy it as that wouldn't be true, but after reading a bit more about it the writers are pretty much banking on a sequel to answer a lot of questions so if that doesn't happen then it will make Prometheus a worse film in my opinion because hardly anything is answered. You can tell Damon Lindelof was on the writing team as it was similar to Lost in that way. Let's hope another one comes out and links it all together nicely, I think if it does then it could be something quite special.

The Last of Us looks good as well but they've been showing that at E3 for 4 years

Yeah that will come out in about another 18 months.

I agree mate its not bad film and the production values are exceptional ,but as a Alien film i came away severely disappointed because Ridley scott as a director is one of our finest and 32 years on after his first film in the trilogy it could have been a awesome visual treat with some of the best Alien effects if they had actually bothered to use Aliens.
A couple of days later i watched his original Alien and even today its still a classic bit of cinema 32 years later and was way ahead of its time in 1979.
I have now sorted out all my box set of the trilogy and i am going to go through them all again as its one of my favourite franchise of all time
