Sony buy Gaikai Cloud Gaming Service

Sony paid $380 million for Gaikai who have agreements with certain large TV manufacturers to stream games to their sets. So the future is here already then chaps!

If this means Playstation Plus membership will soon include cloud gaming, then finally I have a reason to subscribe.

You can take your games with you, work, holidays, days out, the bathroom. You name it. You can game anywhere these days. Vital bodily functions need not interrupt your gaming sessions. Wifi access required.

Considering the huge amounts of money that Sony is currently haemorrhaging(sp?) (largest loss in history?) then how have they managed to scape together the money to buy anything and would they have the money to invest?

Because they are borrowing against that as an asset, not against their other divisions debts.

This is something that comes up regularly in Microsoft vs Sony fanboy arguments. Just bare in mind that when you owe the bank 50 grand, you worry. When you owe the bank 50 million, the bank worries. It certainly isn't going to pull the rug on them if further investment can claw that money back in the longer term and we all know gaming is ultimately heading that way. In for a penny, in for a pound so to speak

If the playstation 4 can produce games that look as good as THIS then I'm a happy gamer.

Unreal 4 engine looks good for sure. If you can tolerate a nasally US commentator, then this demo's worth watching too.
