Xmas has come early for me since I got my PC back up. All those Steam games I got in the summer (if you can call it that) mean I am now super busy flicking through the delights of:
Alan Wake - is this really a game? Hating it so far. Made me forget what good gaming actually was. Until... I tried
Batman: Arkham City - okay, so not my normal cuppa as it's a bit arcadey (very fast and frantic) but it's so polished and so much fun compared to A.Wake. Really impressive visuals and characterisation. However, what's really floated good ship Spooko is
Max Payne 3 - Max really is back! Oh yes. This, unlike Batman, is consistently fun to play. I don't mind the frequent (and long but now skipable) cutscenes at all though I can see where people were coming from. This is the old Max for sure, slowly matured like the malt whiskey he's so fond of and just as bitter, broken and cynical as before. Hard to leave the game and that's what gaming is all about, innit folks?
Also got Sleeping Dogs on Steam yesterday as it's half price for the weekend (£14.99). I'm looking forward to it as I'm really wanting some open world gaming even if I have to beat it out of 'em (not many guns as T2D said before). I prefer guns but hey.
So, yes, Xmas is here already for me. And I haven't got through half the list of games I've still not played. LA Noire, Fallout: New Vegas, Payday: The Heist, Tropico 4 just to mention a few. Oh, and the Dead Space games. Mustn't forget those.
Spook has spoken. Let him rest now. How you getting on with Dishonored T2D mate? And how's Bioshock one going for you mrnelstar? Sir!

I plan to get Max Payne 3 next
Playing UC3 at the mo.
Blimey the ship part is amazing, think I'm going to replay that level as soon as I've finished it

You won't regret Max Payne 3 mate. I don't think so anyhow. The only complaint I could make so far would be maybe it's going to be a little short? I hope not though. I think I'm just 2 chapters in so I'm expecting to be half way at most. If not I shall be very sad. It's great fun so far.
Wish there was no such things as PS3/Xbox exclusives. There are too many games I'd like to play that are never coming my way in PC land. The Unchartered stuff would've been very nice and just my cuppa tea.

I loved the first one so I reckon I'll like number 3
Yea I wish I could get forza but that's only xbox

Dishonoured is a gem of a game mate and pure delight and the best game release of 2012 so far until im hoping Far Cry 3 takes that honour.

Uncharted 3 Battlefields you mean..........You serious you actually playing something else

Woohoo! I hope you're right.

Yeah, that Forza 4 looks good too. All except the false auto-steering issue thing or so I've heard. Still, it's got cars. Lots of shiny broom broom and sunny places to go. Who could want more?
Wish i loved driving games but sadly i don't even though this new Forza game has a arcade feel about it and a hell of a lot of content to last you 6 months at least.
I have tried on countless occasions with previous Forza and Gran Turismo games but give me my FPS any day of the week,im that desperate that i downloaded Serious Sam 3 from xbox live.
Not that the game is desperate because actually Series Sam games are quite a blast even with the low res textures and not so amazing graphics the shooting things is fun,Especially about 200 men with no heads carrying bombs.

It was going great guns until last night! Got stuck in a wall glitch and couldn't get out after an hours play. And to top it off there had been no autosave so I will have to play it all again! Luckily I have lowered the difficulty to easy, as I feel the game is monotonously difficult on normal. It takes far too long and too much ammo to kill Big Daddys on normal, and the loot is particularly scarce as well.
If I had got through that on normal and then glitched, I would have binned the game big time. Such obvious and unredeemable glitches are a massive pet hate of mine. It does feel like the game gets easier as you go, which seems a bit topsy turvey to me. It's a good job for some reason I like rescuing those little brats!
What did you guys do, rescue or harvest?
Harvest all the way [hate Kids]
You playing the PC version of Bioshock i presume which is a surprise since you have a Playstation 3 and you would not encounter the problems you talk about.
Dishonoured is a way better Game than Bioshock anyway.
I think that happened to me too, getting stuck in Bioshock. You're not alone in losing your progress as that happened to a mate of mine too, though his situation was he had foolishly saved at a time he had no ammo and had to face a Big Daddy or two with just a wrench or something. Needless to say he restarted the game.
Rescue or harvest? That always depended on how hungry I was feeling at the time. But yeah, I had a soft spot for rescuing the little blighters too. It felt kind of cathartic watching the rescue animation rather than puke-inducing like the other one. There are (from memory) three possible outcomes in the end depending on what you choose to do with the little tykes. They don't tell you that in the beginning of course but you can search Youtube for all the alternate endings.
You playing the PC version of Bioshock i presume That's crazy talk bro!
I haven't seen the harvesting and don't think I want to now!
Dishonoured is a way better Game than Bioshock anyway. I'll have to take your word for that as I doubt I'll play it to be honest.
I will say though that the best part of Bioshock (that I suspect Dishonoured won't be able to match) is the narrative from the different characters. B movie quirky and really very well thought out.
I'm back in love with this game now, after replaying past the glitch, (grrr!).
Yeah Bioshock was a class game. Amazing setting both visually and can you say, temporally? Meaning the story is just totally cool and I think they got a lot of their ideas from that evil Ayn Rand's Objectivist philosophy. Yeah, I had to look it up as I'd forgotten what all that stuff was called. Makes for very interesting reading though (if you've got the time of course).
There's a good article on the BBC about her actually. That's when I first realised the connection Bioshock's Rapture and the Atlas character had with her. Spooky stuff!

The sad irony is in fact that her vision of individual objectivity, is of course entirely subjective. In Rand's case influenced by her own childhood experiences.
Great post SPOOK. I had also previously (if only briefly) come across her theoretical rantings, but even after playing the game, didn't put two and two together.
I am now of course, even happier to watch Rapture dissolve.

Another tragic irony was that she apparently died penniless and in receipt of government welfare support. I guess her (strong and rich) friends were only following their shared philosophy in condemning the poor and weak to their natural abject demise. Just as well there was a safety net, eh?
Yeah, burn Rapture. Burn! Or drown. Even. Burn then drown perhaps? That's better.

Same, on hard mode.
Just starting Borderlands 2. Peeved that Mechromancer costs as much as a story dlc, where is the logic in that?

Gzero................Jez i thought that name ringed a bell.........Welcome back matey
Where you been the past 12 months

Saying that i have had the RROD on two systems .........shoddy build quality and a Microsoft Cock up in the R and D department.

Working, but still reading the threads.
I've actually hit a slump in multiplayer games to play with my friends. 1 of them always has to moan the second it doesn't go right and everything gets a little awkward.
Hoorah for single players!
What system or are we talking PC here.
PC and Wii.
Surprisingly I'm enjoying Pokemon Black version 2.
I has levels to grind!
The Wii ............you serious
What do you think of the upcoming Wii U console,i had one on pre/order frrom shopto.net because of that really good Ubisoft Game Zombie U.
But my heart rules my head and i have since done a reversal of thinking and decided to cancel because i am not convinced at the tablet controller and the fact i will more than likely be spending most of my time with Black ops 2,Halo4 and Far Cry 3 and thought to myself buying a Wii U will be pointless and a waste of time.
All i need now is for the system to be really special and rave reviews about the game and the usual Stock shortages courtesy of Nintendo like with the Wii when that came out.
To be perfectly honest my biggest gripe with nintendo new system is the fact that the tablet controller is quite a major part of the game,i just don't like motion gaming and my eye sight is not as good as some 20 year old and i would have to wear bifocals to use a controller so close and then look at the television from some distance.
I really need reading glasses close up when using ipad and stuff and i wear my distance glasses for television on occasions,so in my case nintendo have not really marketed this console for older gamers like Mr Magoo myself with not so 20/20 vision.
Im extremely tempted to go down the laser eye surgery route but i hear this can not always eliminate all vision problems .

Im extremely tempted to go down the laser eye surgery route but i hear this can not always eliminate all vision problems . It would likely get rid of the bi focals mate.
It could satisfactorily remove the short sightedness, but not the longsight problem which will likely naturally progress at varying rates in people of your age......old man.

Nothing like a bit of moral support of your Think broadband Gaming Forum mates is there
You have made me feel so much better matey and cheered me up considerably ,now please excuse me why i tie this rope to the rafters.

I've been ignoring Wii U stuff lately, only going to get it if there is a killer reason to do so like I did with the 3DS (got it in Red for £90 last year) as Zelda Ocarina had came out for it.
The Wii is sitting gathering dust, but sticking homebrew stuff on it has been fun albeit a little buggy.

My advice is a double reef knot.

Be sure to tie it good and tight. Last time I tried that the knot came loose. Hurt my bum on the way down.
Oh, I see. There's another page. Somebody already beat me to it. We're a compassionate crowd here aren't we.

Yeah my Gaming mates Spook and Mrnelster can be relied on for some moral support
You both would miss me is i stopped posting thats for sure

I'm sure we could think of ways to get you posting again.
It is your Duty to post here.

Don't set him off again mate!
Every time we mention that game he never shuts up.
Very clever of you though Gzero. I wonder if he gets the message.
And leaves us all in peace instead of War!
Anyhow, it'll take more than death to stop him that's for sure. We can call him LaserEyes if he goes the spec'less route. Or keep on calling him GoggleEyes if he don't.
I'm not sure I trust laser eye surgery just yet. If I went for it I'd want to get the more costly waveform treatment or whatever it is though.
But our eyes are destined to go wonky as we grow old and some of us here are very, very old. Eh Mr Wonky?
However, if you can still read this chart you're fine and there's nothing to worry about. It's been specially formulated for ageing gamers.
Thats very clever Gzero i read Spooks thread and then looked at yours again and at first glance i did not see it.
You two are hilarious, bet it took you all night to get those lines into your sentences and make fun of the one and only Mr Magoo.
Call Of Duty
Don't Mention the War.
Credit where its due both great humorous posts by you both as it bought a little smile to T2D face as i drank my Horlick's through a straw before using my stairlift and retiring to my bed at 7.30 pm
Had a little trouble on the last line actually. You remind me of Basil Fawlty hence the quote!
Can you wear two pairs of specs at the same time I wonder? Is this the solution to your Wii U problem. Mind you, you might have another kind of Wii problem in the not too distant future the way you're ageing.

Thank god for Tenor for men thats all i say you cheeky young ragamuffin you

What are you some sort of Vampire or something that trolls the forums at night
Looking at the times of your threads and replies i am imagining Let me in scenario.

I have to keep getting up to change my bed as for some reason or not its soaking wet,so much for my pads

Well, yeah. If I had an Xbox I would consider helping the aged and playing a game with an old codger like you T2D. I might even let you win once in a while.

Basically its a dead forum, assassins Creed 3 just got released and i have been playing it since Monday and the game is very good indeed not that i thought to much about the first few instalments.
We have halo 4 In a matter of days,Black Ops 2 a week later and Far Cry 3 2 weeks after that and yet these gaming forums are unbelievably quiet for some unknown reason.
We really need some serious Gamers posts on here regarding Games and what is just around the corner.
I finished UC3 last night. Blimey what a great game that is
Anyone that hasn't played it yet do yourself a favour and buy it
It only took 11.04 to play but that works out at roughly £2 an hour for top quality entertainment which I might even play again one day.
Oh yea and I also played tank battle in BF3 for the first time. I'm surprised how good that was
Thought I better add a bit of BF3 flavour to my post as we all know how much T2D appreciates it.
He just isn't the same without it.

Yeah mate we got to have a little bit of Battlefield banter in all your forum posts, would be extremely strange if you didn't mention it because thats all you have raved on about since it got released.
I fear the worse come November the 13th when Black Ops ships and you will no doubt be on here giving it a good old bashing saying its for kids even though you had a Nintendo Wii
Auto Aim,same engine,Boring Zombies,Rubbish Campaign ..........I expect the lot.
Hey Swanny you got to actually buy the game before you can make truly accurate comments, positive or negative, and I'm right in thinking you don't buy COD games .
Believe you me if Black Ops turns out to be a turkey i will give it to you straight and there is no way i will defend any game that turns out to be a glorified Hype trail.
Anyway as i have said i more excited about Far Cry 3 than any other game this year which by all accounts has not been that good a year for gamers and anything much associated with quality.
Think so Far Dishonoured is the best i have played this year even though its quite linear .

I did buy black ops but traded it pretty quick. Can't see how this one is going to be an improvement, it's just black ops part 2. Same annoying kids will be playing
I will buy FC3 so there

He just isn't the same without it.
