Multi-player Theme Hospital game for Windows 8

Does anyone know of a Theme Hospital-type multi-player game that is compatible with Windows 8 ? I personally can't stand the game, but unfortunately some people in the family are still in the 18th century and still play the orginal.

Whilst it can be made to run on W8, one slight setback is that it needs IPX/SPX, which isn't supported.

Oh, and CorSix doesn't support multiplayer...

Erm, I am sure the final release of Theme Hospital supported TCP/IP play.

I could swear I got mmultiplayer to work on Windows 7 about 3 years ago. I can' actually get the game to run on Win8 at all unfortunately.

CorSix is a extremely respectful port but unfortunately it seems far too easy compared to the original game.

No, unfortunatels its DPlay (which uses IPX/SPX) or standard IPX/SPX... It can work on Windows 7, but only with the 32-bit version unfortunately (even with compatibility mode).

Your're right about the directplay bit, had got confused.

I presume running it in DOXBOX is an option??

Don't really want to use that - really want to get away from old programs...
