There was suppose to be a Playstation 4 add during the half time add break in the champion league match at wembley according to Sony about a month ago.
What we actually got was a Call of Duty Ghosts add and at the end on Xbox One,not that I care for Cod games in general anymore but have they stole some of the suppose Sony limelight and what happened to the Sony add confirmed for tonight by Sony themselves.
Xbox One.......I can not get over the stupid name, the last bit is right because as Angry joe in his video said it does one thing......Play Television .
For those that have not watched his video you must check out his rant about Xbox One and Microsoft as a corporation,I have watched it about 10 times and each time it's just as hilarious.
Just check out YouTube and put in angry joe rant ......so true and yet extremely funny at the same time ......classic stuff.
Angry joe epic fail
EDIT
Unless Sony mean this

I don't think the name is so bad, it's a new generation of consoles so it's the Xbox One, it's starting again. It's no worse than the PS4, not very original from either of them really but PS4 have not had to innovate for the past 3 consoles It's better than Xbox 720 I hated that name.

Actually it is a pretty stupid name given the past naming of the playstation. When the PlayStation was relaunched in a new case after the PS2 came out it was renamed the PSOne.
Now in the minds of the average consumer it may look like that this is what MS is doing and rebadging an earlier console.
It can only cause confusion and the fact that the MS marketers don't even seem to know or care what has gone on in the marketplace before seems to confirm that they are operating in a ivory tower with no real grip on what the market is doing.
If they wanted names how about revolution, or evolution or any other name that wasn't a number if they were not going down the numbering route when the 360 was announced.

I think most consumers will have long forgotten about the PSOne. More likely they might be wondering why its named after a phone (HTC One)
|
|
|
|
You would think so but my wife mentioned it when she heard the name and the only thing she does with gaming is that she uses her laptop mainly for freecell.

I disagree, I didn't even consider the PS One when I saw the name. I also think that anyone spending money on a console will do their research and will know it's not just the Xbox 360 rebadged, especially with all the hype around this and the PS4.

So she isn't really an average consumer then because she is never going to use the product. Anyone who is going to use the console will know it's something new, I think your wife was just trying to show a small bit of interest in an otherwise uninteresting hobby to her

Given that at the reveal that all the MS said was TV, Sports, COD and Halo TV show. MS are targeting her as somebody to come and use the multimedia parts of the system.
What they seem to be ignoring is the core gaming market and heading off and making a MS TV box that plays some games. That is smart TV, Sky Box territory and something very different to the Xbox 360.
Mind you if half the stuff coming out about the Xbone is true then all I can see for any consumer is Pay, pay, pay......

Oh yea don't get me wrong I am hugely disappointed with the Xbox reveal, as a massive fan of the 360 since they first came out I have always defended it and said it was the superior console over the PS3... I just didn't think the name was that bad!
|
|
|
And i agree it was superior in most ways to the Playstation 3 but mainly because it always seemed to have the better version of any multi platform game and a better Online service which in all honestly is expected given it costs £40 a year to play.
I have favoured the Xbox 360 for many years but I'm not buying anything Microsoft after this poor reveal, even E3 can not save them in my eyes and i have completely lost faith in all what they are and all what they do.
They are a greedy cash cow corporation who have not got the slightest clue what made the xbox360 and previous xbox consoles as big as they are.........GAMERS.
Do they really think the average Joe blogs and family will be pre/ordering there console or will be in line at a Midnight launch,do people actually care about all about all these media functions this Xbox One does when we have it all already on Mobile phones/tablets,take into consideration outside of the USA most of these functions wont even work and the likes of anybody outside of America cares for NFL.
There is no going back this reveal was a total PR disaster and this will reflect on Xbox One sales regardless of E3 and what they show.
I am so disgusted that i have carefully mulled over the games coming out this year before the next generation launch and have come to the conclusion the Xbox 360 can now be sold/traded at Blockbusters because there is is little out for it this year and what there is can be bought on a Playstation 3 which will also get traded in the coming months in preparation for the Playstation 4 which hopefully will get a confirmed release date for Europe at E3 this year.
Sony biggest mistake now would be not to go worldwide this year,Europe is massive and far more important than the likes of just the USA.See just reading recent articles like This makes my skin crawl and you can see what direction there focus is,take into consideration i watch television as it is on my Samsung Smart TV with Sky hd as a side package.
This is not a Gaming console no matter how anyone tries to dress it up,they are after a completely different market share and like the previous poster said it will be full to the brim with subscribe to this Subscribe to that, pay for extra this and pay for extra that.........Joke

I had a launch Xbox and I was a beta tester for the original Live service.
I then got a launch Xbox 360 from GAME at a special discount as the local area manager knew I was a good customer.
I am on my 2nd Xbox 360 as my launch ones died with RROD some time later.
The area manager at game gave me a special price on the special edition Gears and Gears 2 console as I was a very good customer at GAME by then.
Checked the 2nd hand price and it is now £72 cash for the same bundle at GAME.
So off to GAME tomorrow and offloading my Xbox and all 2 games that were left with for some cash and as you I'll be on Steam or the PS3 for games for now.
I don't consider myself a fanboy of any company but when I am hearing so much bad stuff being dripped fed to us I am cutting my losses and getting out while there is still a chance of getting some money for my Xbox 360.

I'm more miffed about the lack of backward compatibility and DRM they are thinking of including but then again if I were a PS3 owner I would be too as that has no backward compatibility either.
Both companies are rightly royally screwing over their customers, maybe PC gaming will stage a comeback?
Virgin (ADSL) => Namesco => Newnet => O2 => Plusnet => Zen => Newnet => Zen => Freeola => Vivaciti (using O2 Wholesale DSL) => Xilo (C&W Wholesale) => Xilo (O2 Wholesale)

I think it is mate....Bigtime

Trade in value would be more obviously instead of cash, that's the way I would go in preparation for the new Playstation 4 or PC if your tempted to go that route.
I have had 3 RROD happen to me over the past 6 years, another thing that must play on the mind of future Xbox one upgraders.
I done a quick list and took it to a guy that works up the local blockbusters and it totalled £165 ,console 250 gig slim worth £100 ,games worth virtually nothing and the price for Battlefield 3 £6 when it's retailing for £30 second hand, that's EA for you and the online code/pass that makes there games really drop in value as obviously online pass will have to be purchased with this game when I trade it.
Hey and don't forget to cancel your Xbox live subscription as mine was on auto renew, next is a format of the whole system which is a shame as I have spent £100s on Xbox live arcade and the likes which will all be lost.
On a serious note there is only one game that rocks my boat anytime soon and that's on the Playstation 3,after that I'm hoping Sony really confirm and release this year ASAP .

But you are talking about in the know passionate gamers Jaxx and not your average mother sent on a errand to purchase the device, obviously the likes of myself ,you and Adrian and the gamers all know but you would be surprised what that stupid naming of a new console will confuse the ordinary shopper .

So you're telling me that if little Johnny's mum was going to the town centre to buy him a new Xbox she wouldn't check what it's called first before shelling out over £400?

Not my views but many internet gaming journalist people

I think they are just picking faults for the sake of faults, I agree with all of the other negative points around it but the name really is no big issue. People just being silly "LET'S FIND EVEN MORE REASONS TO HATE IT!!"
Next they will be saying it shouldnt be black because it will confuse people over which is the 360 and which is the One.

Your right the name is not really the big issue and not many people in the real world will get confused, but saying that the name could have and should have been way better .

And a result at GAME.
Box was scanned and lo and behold the cash price of the console has jumped to £85!!!
So the effective price of the console was more than doubled by having a fancy box and a bundled game.
I was talking to the area manager and he said that MS have given them no information what so ever and they are pushing hard to get consoles pre-ordered.
They are even giving an extra 20% on trade in prices against a Xbone or PS4.
Apparently GAME will be selling Oyua systems on the high street with Amazon.co.uk online and they apparently look ok but with a seriously heavy large controller.
But no info yet on steam boxes so they are still a way off from launching.

Well done mate and I will be following you with trading all my stuff in this week,my only regret is the amount I have spent on Xbox live arcade and I only downloaded call of Juarez gunfighter last week for 1200 points and its a really sweet game.
I'm also concerned about the preowned game market and Microsoft and Even Sony stance on this,it's not been fully clarified by Microsoft there intentions ,with one saying one thing and another saying something else.
I hope come E3 we get straight facts and release dates, another thing that concerns me that if they go down the blocking second hand copies of games or asking for money for reativation which rumours and reports are saying is basically the cost of a full price game then this is seriously going to effect the likes of Game/ Blockbusters and the rest of us.
I use trade in to cut the cost of the amount of games I buy which in some release months is quite a few, after the problems with Game going into administration and Blockbusters been took over with many shop closures this is really the last thing they need.
And if its confirmed and they do block the preowned market then the price of trade in will tumble ,think doing it now is a right move, besides what is actually out, nothing of substance until the next generation arrive .
