PS4 - this year in the UK with a 500 gig HD for £349-00. No used game restrictions and includes a free game for existing PS+ subscribers.
Good luck Microsoft.

Got up this morning and tried in vain to find the full conference but only seem to be able to find certain tit bits, sort of got a live stream but it seems to start half way through the show.
Seen the Playstation 4 reveal and it looks like a nice sleek sexy beast unlike the Brick of the xbox one, what i can gather at the moment and i will watch the Jack Tretton speech in a moment that it has no real restrictions.
Price point of £349 has undercut Microsoft, same hard drive space 500g but not bundled with Playstation eye which does not concern me really at present.
Only negativity surrounding it i can gather is Playstation Plus is required to play multiplayer games online which i could see this coming anyway,in other words its a similar deal to xbox live and a subscription based online service.
More stuff as i watch clips throughout the day.........Not actually seen a release date in Europe or anywhere else as i watch various clips.
RIP ...Microsoft..............Dreamcast here you come..
Another 2 nails in Microsoft Coffin
Sorry Mrnelster i see your link also highlighted Microsoft death of the Xbox One.
Bill gates must be getting quite a few p45s at the ready because whoever came up with there xbox one restriction policy knows nothing about games or gamers.........

Pre ordered some weeks back, so feeling smug with myself. As for Microsoft it would do well not to be like a Apple as they end up looking like a lemon.

Preordered mine as soon as the Playstation 4 reveal in Feb,i have been a avid supporter of Xbox 360 last few years but Microsoft to me have treated the true gaming public appallingly and they do not deserve any respect or sales of there new Xboxone.
Sony have done what Gamers wanted and done a complete reversal of what Microsoft have done with there machine,I'm convinced Microsoft thought Sony would take the same route with the restrictions and trading of games and they have well and truly been nailed.
Its unbelievable to think that Microsoft never retracted any of there stupid ideas after there May Conference and the backlash that got from Gamers on the internet and the negative articles and press from most if not all gaming media websites.
Im also convinced that the people responsible for this grand idea will be treading on egg shells during the coming days/weeks unless this was the Big Man himself idea.
Obviously Microsoft need hardened Gamers working for them with there brighter ideas of what makes a success ,try as i might i can not find one single reason to support the Xbox One and i say to everyone that loves gaming do not support what Microsoft is doing and do not purchase a Xbox One for the sake of gaming, developers, retail shops and a hole host of other obvious reasons.
Im also convinced that in the coming weeks Microsoft may have to take a about turn and change a few things if its not to late.
Seems to me Microsoft have played russian roulette ,only this time there seems like 6 bullets in the chamber and not one

 Dum dum rounds at that.

The average 8 year old would have done a better job. They should just hire some of them instead.

It seems that MS has a complete adversion to money at the moment as it seems that they don't want me to give it to them.
Win 8, Surface, Xbox one.
It seems to be a complete allergy to money.
MS has never liked to admit it has got things wrong and I can still see them try and push ahead with the teenage boys FPS set and the sheep hoping they get enough sales not to look stupid.
As for me I am now looking at a PS4 and upping my lovefilm sub for game rentals.

No one is batting an eye lid at the PS+ required for Multiplayer?
Did they say what they would do to make it worth this subscription or did they bring it about because they could?

I don't think that's good at all but I'm not going to get a ps 4

I don't have a problem with that as I am already a PS+ subscriber. I think it's really good value to be honest. I've had probably 10 games from them this year. Someone with more time to spend and a broader preference, would probably have had even more value from it.
And I'd personally rather pay than face a certain future of free 2 play.

Not going to decide on which console as yet.
Would like to know which of the whizzy features actually work outside the US first.

Been a Playstation Plus subscriber since day one and you can virtually get your money back as soon as you subscribe, downside for the likes of me is i have normally already gone out and bought what they are offering as free games, but people that only buy 1 game every decade like Swanny it's a breath of fresh Air.
Then i would preorder one as I'm guessing there will be shortages, biggest laugh is the news that Amazon have sold all there so called allocated stock of the Xbox One as you can no longer pre/order it at present on there site.
Bill gates must have spent a small fortune filling out the pre/order requests on the Amazon site because it can not be any sane person can it

How much is the PS+ subs each month then? I would say I'm definitely in for the PS4 but I'd like to know about the additional financial commitments...

As much as I, and lots of others hate spending money... I think at a minimum, it's only fair. The amount of abuse Sony received when they were hacked... they were providing a free service in comparison to Microsoft which would have been generating anything upto £1.85 Billion per year (46M subscribers at £40 each). Thats a fair chuck which MS could use to fund the security on Xbox.
Microsoft says that Xbox Live subscriptions are up 18% over last year, reaching a grand total of 46M
From what I heard from E3, PS Plus is available for "Less than $5 a month" which is basically the same price as Xbox Live Gold, but provides better benefits so I wouldn't be too outraged at the fact... With the price tag of the PS4 too, the money you save over an Xbox will buy you 2 years of PS+ subscription
My only negative view about the PS4 is the controller looks small and clustered.

Cheapest way to pay when I joined was £39.99 annually if you paid up front, or £17.99 a month if you paid quarterly. I think they have just announced a monthly sub in the US of $10, so expect something similar over here.
Just pay the lot up front and then download Drive Club for free and you're in like Flynn SPOOK. You will then be able to spectate me chasing t2d around in Tourette mode.

Yeah Spook you got to get one and then we can be the three Amigos
And Swanny can team up with a friend on his ageing Playstation 3 and become one of the Chuckle Brothers
For your info I have a box full of games for the PS3 and an even larger box full of old PC games.
I never trade them in as I feel like I'm being ripped off so would rather they sit and gather dust than let game make a massive profit from me

My console days are nearly over, I've seen the light I'm going for a new gaming PC

No one is batting an eye lid at the PS+ required for Multiplayer?

Not considering that XB Live has needed gold membership for online play for 10 years.
Sony has held back for as long as they could.
If they dropped the price of the console to £350 but need subsidy in some form then PS+ is at least an optional extra rather than even more cost on the games.

Horses for courses Swanny ...and if thats your wish then thats all fine and dandy.
Obviously what you buy on your new high end PC as im guessing it wont be basic spec will look ultra nice, but and its a BIG but there will be plenty of future games that you may require that will only be on consoles.
Im a Gambling man and i predict buy Christmas you will have a Playstation 4

I'm off to Game this weekend to lay down my £20 and they are boosting the trade in price on my PS3 by £20 and I hand over the console when I pick up the new one.
even my wife feels that the PS4 "might be fun" and she is interested in the new stempunk game,
So I shall be playing one type of game on the PS4 and the rest on the PC.

And The Last of Us is on route to my house as we speak so hopefully thursday evening will be a sweet Gaming session of the highest order.

I have a 250GB slimline and they are offering £90 trade in boosted to £110 against a PS4.
It also has Assasins Creed 2 bundled in but that doesn't affect the price but the game needs to be put back in the box as it was "special edition".
The current PS 3 prices are.
Trade in Cash
PS3 SLIM 120GB £70.00 £63.00
PS3 SLIM 160GB £70.00 £63.00
PS3 SLIM 250GB £90.00 £81.00
PS3 SLIM 320GB £90.00 £81.00
PS3 SUPER SLIM 120GB £80.00 £72.00
PS3 SUPER SLIM 500GB £100.00 £90.00
PS3 SUPER SLIM 500GB RED £125.00 £112.50
PS3 SUPER SLIM 500GB BLUE £125.00 £112.50
Not very good prices are they,i got £100 for my Xbox 360 from Blockbusters the other month when i decided after the Microsoft Xbox One reveal i no longer wanted anything to do with them as a consumer.
Best deal i ever had regarding trading a Playstation 3 in was when they first introduced the slim edition, took it to Gamestation who apparently had to match CEX price and i got £220 for it against a new Slim Playstation 3 which i think i ended up paying £30 for it.
I think even those prices you quote will tumble even further when we get closer to the street release date and the fact i see Game inundated with Playstation 3 and Xbox 360s .
That is why I am going in and placing my money down now, and hopefully will secure the trade in price at time of order.
If not I may decide to wait.
Trouble is that since the last round of console releases in 2005/06 we have seen a lot of retailers fall by the wayside.
I won't use CEX due to their frankly laughable prices and so GAME is at least giving me at least something half decent.
I think that GAME want to get boxes out of the door and may make a very small loss against console trade ins just to get those all important sales.
I don't use CEX either but for some apparent reason at the time i took the Older model playstation 3 in the manager at gamestation told me that was the deal for it.
I even suggested that £220 for a 3 year old playstation was a great price and he said they had to match CEX.
I don't like CEX myself and i don't know what they offer, but they may have a real good deal on Playstation 3 trade ins so keep your eyes peeled and if you see them selling for a far higher price then use that knowledge against Game to get a better deal.
I used Game for many years but they let me down with there online deliveries on there website and have since moved on to a far better online retailer who I'm guessing you have heard me sing the praises of before.
The only problem is i have to use certain companies like Blockbusters to trade in games and consoles i no longer want and online retailers apart from game don't do that.
As for a lot of High Street retailers falling by the wayside then Microsoft will more than likely be responsible for a fair few more, not that there is anyone on the high street anymore,i can only think of Game,Hmv,and Blockbusters that actually sell games as a lot of the smaller independent shops have closed because of the likes of Game and there Greed and buying up Gamestation.
Thats why they went into administration in the first place, some High streets had 2 Game shops and 2 Gamestations when there was no need.
We had 2 GAME and 1 Gamestation within 50 yards of each other and I did ask the area manager about it before they fell over and he said that is how the higher ups wanted it.
When they went under they apparently owed something like £180million in back rent on their shops.
And our HMV is closing our local store following the Waterstones next door.
That has annoyed me as I used Ottakars which was a lovely small chain bookstore. HMV came and bought them up swapped them with a Waterstones they were sold off and our shop closed and now HMV is following.
So now we have no bookshops at all and I now have to buy them online or at conventions. As a lot of the smaller indie publishers will book launch at them.
UPDATE
Just had a reply from Lovefilm about the PS4. Apparently they are in talks with Sony and the other publishers and they will email me when I can add PS4 games to my wish list.

Mate may I suggest you check out shopto.net for all your gaming needs, they are a brilliant online retailer and I would not think of using anyone else but them.
Not only do you get your stuff early like game releases, they have never in 3 years failed me yet.
Now if The Last Of Us fails to turn up tomorrow I will be livid
Did not want to mention shopto on the forums again and I tried to send you a PM but you don't want to receive them when I tried.
Love film is owned by Amazon and I would not trust or use either,I'm guessing you want to buy your games for your playstation from here.

If it doesn't arrive there'll be ruptions!

Shopto/Amazon/Zavi/Gamestop etc theirs quite a few for discs and for downloads you have got quite a few good stores so their is still plenty of choice.

Maybe it's cheaper to pay for PS+ with an American account??
If you have a credit card and valid US Address then you can do that but if you haven't then you can not.
I used to buy games from the US store but it was a system similar to Paypal at the time but i forgot what its called, sort of a cloned credit card where you add funds and can then use it to buy from the overseas store.
I gave up shortly after as this system was withdrawn and a lot of the stuff if not most requires a Credit card for that particular country.

Did your copies of the last of us arrive today?
Yes, just got in and it was on the floor waiting for me.
Don't know why I was worried to be honest, they've never missed a release day yet. There normally early though. Unfortunately I've now got to make a dash to the John Ratcliffe in Oxford to help someone out, so I won't get on it till at least ten tonight. Grrrr!
Yeah mines here and i could not resist a quick play but found it hard not to continue, awesome game and lives up to all the reviews and hype.
Be back on later this evening for sure.
By that time i reckon i will be 4 hours in,very touching first 20 minutes and its one of those games that has a terrific story and characters you actually care about.

I have a USA account but have never tried to buy anything. On my UK account I use the PS cards to add funds to my wallet

I'm about 3 hours in and this game has just started to get mighty taxing and is one hard game even on normal mode, stealth is obviously the key here but I'm a sort of billy the kid type of guy Swanny and it ain't working.
Game is a masterpiece and its a pity other developers like gearbox [aliens colonial marines] took some handy tips in what it takes to make a proper game and not the garbage they served up 3 months back.

Shows the moment MS lost and SONY won.

Looking forward to getting it when it hits £25
By the time this game hits £25 the Playstation 4 will have been out for a year, stop dreaming and been a tight wad and go out and support top dog developers Naughty Dog because games like these are far and few between and people that wait for prices to drop quite frankly are not serious gamers as far as I'm concerned.
When a game this cool comes along then its a day 1 purchase regardless of price and i will have no hesitation in buying the season pass when that hits the Playstation store Friday.
All this and it even has a multiplayer which i have not touched and it would not matter one single bit if its not my cup of tea as the single player is worth the money alone.
Makes you wonder how games like Aliens Colonial Marines ever see Daylight and it was in development far longer than this game.
Only a few developers have it and Naughty Dog are the Jewel in Sony Crown and the mind boggles as to what they can do on a Playstation 4.

How much did you pay for Last of Us then? I thought £25 was a lot!

I'm too busy enjoying the summer to play games, by the time winter comes It'll be cheaper and I'll play it on my PS3
These game companies don't support me and my business

You don't live in the Uk then as Summer was cancelled here
Torrential downpours here.......

Can still pretend it's summer... go to work in shorts, thats what I do.

You don't live in the Uk then as Summer was cancelled here

Wish it was here the potatoes need watering.
Went into GAME this morning place my £20 down on the PS4 and the computer said I was guarenteed a launch console.
Just hope that GAME doesn't go bust again between here and launch now.
Well, your £20 will keep them trading for all of 1 minute...
Think Game has now got itself back on its feet and i don't feel you need to be to concerned, personally i would have ordered of someone else but then again you can not trade your stuff in like your last generation Playstation 3
Game may survive but i would expect to see alot more stores go, as online distribution is only going to increase as move people will use it when they have faster broadband.
When? That's a big Word.
Game take the [censored] with their pricing so I have no sympathy for them
It will all depend on their future plans - if they are silly enough to try to expand quickly, for example, then they will have problems.
Has anyone else seen Ben "Yahztee" Crowley's review of the next generation of consoles.(available here. Its not suitable for work as it mentions "Microsoft"

"...until they discovered one of the twos was a four...." Lmao!

Sadly and annoyingly, LoveFilm are stopping games rental from 8th August
I only have a Lovefilm subscription as it was transferred to them by Tesco DVD Rental and I only rent XBox 360 games. I've been tempted to use LoveFilm Instant which comes as part of my rental package, but there is never anything I want to watch listed
I cannot be bothered with the buy / return / trade-in malarky
Be* Unlimited

Yeah, I recently cancelled my instant Lovefilm subscription.
There's very little that seemed to be worth watching and every single search I did for any old classic returned negative. It was a chore finding anything to watch.
If you go through the online cancellation process you will see retention offers appear so you might wanna do that anyway regardless.
