the comparison will be much worse outside of uk and usa, as those 2 countries are more pro microsoft than others.

Other countries arent so addicted to FPS and xbox.

it almost feels to me the only reason we have these new consoles is for FPS and sports games which are very graphics focused, for other genres the ps3 and 360 have easily good enough graphics.

sadly the market is now flooded with FPS/sports games.

Sony have said that there are 180 games in development for PS4 with 33 this year so there should be something you like.

Gameplay is the most important thing but better graphics are definitely a good thing IMO as it will make you feel more immersed in the world.
