PlayStation Plus

My PS+ subscription ends on the 16th of this month and so I am hunting for the best deal. Shopto.net are selling £35 network cards for £29.86, so thinking of getting one of them adding the extra £5 and buying the 1 year sub (with extra 90 days free) from PSN.

So if anyone needs to renew this is the best option I have found unless theres something I have missed?

I have mine set for auto renewal so I don't generally search around for deals,all I know is it carries over to the playstation 4 network once that is in your home and set up.

Not even sure what the price of Playstation plus anymore only it was £39.99 last time I checked,don't know how anything can be cheaper than the network itself as this don't make any sense to me.

Saying that I have never understood how the playstation can charge £59.99 for digitally downloaded games that cost £39.99 for the equivalent retail copy.

This to me is utter greediness and complete nonsense and they seem to be taking advantage of people who can not be bothered to go to the shops,not only are you getting completely ripped of you don't have any trading facilities to get some of your money of if the game in question don't hit the dizzy heights you expected.

Yeah standard price for a year is £39.99 which is actually a bargain already considering how many games you get...then again I haven't actually played all that many of them properly but still have got my moneys worth.

PSN have a deal at the moment, buy 1 years subscription and get a extra 90 days for free. You can stack the subscription so might be worth getting even if your PS+ doesn't need renewing yet. This deal ends on the 20th of September.
Shopto however have the PSN Credit codes on sale so the £35 one is £29.86, so using that (+ additional £5) instead of straight from my credit card I can get it for £35 lol

I agree about many of the digitally downloaded games, they are way over priced. They should be considerably cheaper than a physical copy for the reasons you said.

I don't understand Sony Logic with these games especially in times of hardship and recession,its pretty obvious that people are paying the inflated prices though because they have been doing this for years.

digital downloads in theory should be cheaper as the entire supply chain is much lower costs. No retail related costs such as shop assistants and building rent. However they are adding a premium to the conveniance factor.

There is also I believe an agreement with retailers that will never undercut retail. Retailers sadly still seem to have too much power with the forced retail exclusive content and these type of agreements.

Occasionally tho bargians can be had, I brought vesperia of the microsoft marketplace for £20, at the time there was no physical copies anywhere as they wasnt been produced, and people were selling 2nd hand copies on ebay for £70. Occasionally is sales as well. I dont know about the playstation side of things tho, interestingly DLC on the playstation costs more than the xbox, as the playstation has less favourable exchange rates.

I got AC3 of xbox marketplace for £4.99. Just brought the single player DLC for it on a 50% off deal as well.

Of course as well digital purchases dont need a disc inserted to play so thats further conveniance as well as speedier loading.

From what you guys have posted and what I have observed on DLC it does seem the sony side is worse than microsoft for online purchases.

They should be much cheaper, there is no packaging, no transportation costs and no handling cost. To change more or even the same is taking the [censored]. And anyone that pays the over inflated prices is a fool

Remember that if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription you get several 'free' games every month.

Yeah and every single one of them i have bought well before they get released on the store and thats the problem if you buy a lot of games,if you buy 3 or 4 a year and don't have a lot of time or have a family i can see this been very good for those that subscribe.

Only the other month i bought Shadow of Colossus and Ico twin pack game from the store and 4 weeks later it was free,i think Sony should reimburse playstation subscribers that do this and realises this is not wise selling a game at £19.99 one week and a couple of weeks later it becomes free on the playstation plus service.

Yes I agree that selling a game on sale then giving it away free weeks later is not fair at all, they really need to stop doing that. Think they did something like that with Sleeping Dogs which I almost bought.

Yep that's another I bought and it ended up on the store for free 4 months later .

So basically it sort of feeds the people that don't really buy a lot of games and is not much use to the people like me and yourself that buy quite a few.

But now everybody is going to have to pay the £39.99 with the playstation 4 if you want to play online games,its something that has been coming for a long time and hopefully they will improve the playstation service which is not on par with Xbox Live which has always been a paid service.

One thing i hope they really improve on is the extreme slow download speeds and instal procedure that takes a age on a playstation 3.

To be honest Swanny I'm not sure what they will do regarding the playstation plus subscription that is required for the Playstation 4.

If i was to take a guess i would think this would be across board to be totally honest as it would be totally unfair to charge for online on a P4 and not a P3.

Unfair for us PS3 owners, why should we have to pay just because PS4 owners do??

The games they gave away after the hack are yours to keep, they shouldn't go away because you haven't got PS+. If they did you should contact Sony and complain.

Not much of interest there apart from Far Cry 3 and i just bought that on the Playstation 3,anyway just loaded up GTA5 which took about 20 minutes to install about 8.5 gigs of data so I'm guessing at some stage another 8.5 gig as the game is 17gig in size.

Played the first 20 minutes intro.........Awesome.

Yeah FC3 is the only one to really interest me, I will start downloading them all so have the option to play them at some point.
I will have loads of Vita games waiting for when I eventually get one.

I bought a second vita having traded my original one,don't know why I bothered as I still prefer my Ipad and iso games.

Nexus 7 has just gone up the duff so that will be going back to currys tomorrow as its only 8 months old,already took one of these back as a birthday present for someone who had a similar issue.

Unit has died and it won't take any charge.

Some decent stuff if your planning on keeping the playstation 3,more interested in Resigun from House Marquee when the playstation 4 launches just a few weeks later which is also free to playstation 4 owners

Didn't like that Metal Gear rising and remember me didn't exactly set the world on fire with its mixed bag of review scores .

On the whole apart from the brilliant The Last of us to me 2013 was a disappointment in terms of quality games and i just hope that once next generation finally arrives we will see some drop dead gorgeous games.

Not sure what the difference is between Dead Nation on the PS3 and PS4, anyone know ? That was a fantastic game wouldn't mind playing it again, so addictive.

This is the only difference i see for

Dead Nation Playstation 4.

Some on here will not know that these are the developers responsible for Super Stardust and Resogun and i will be downloading this for sure next week even though i have played it many times before.

Ok so nothing much then. Definitely worth people playing if they haven't already and I would grab it even if you have as it is free.

This one has been a long time coming. I've played for many years and couldn't justify the expense what with the kids. But this has such an amazing tone that it literally cuts you in half. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.

Compared to that one, yes. It was a Fender Strat. The cost or quality of it would have made no difference though, I just couldn't be bothered to put the effort into it.

You can't go wrong with a Fender American Strat? Except if you don't bother to play it, lol! American Strats are great guitars and easy to play. How long did you stick with it?

Yes, it looks like it sounds, incredible. And as far as guitars go, it'll hold it's value really well. This is the best place to buy a guitar I've ever been to and I've been to many. The pics on their site are of the actual guitars and everything they show is hanging on the wall. None of the "stock" photos the other big outlets show.

I ordered it today and the site showed "out of stock" immediately. A good honest company.

curious what you guys think is the future of ps3 (and xbox360) digital content?

So by that I mean.

PSN+ content
DLC
Purchased content.

Do you think it will all go dark when they stop selling the consoles? meaning people lose content.

Given sony's history with psp and ps2 I think the sony side will be ok. But if any of these companies try to pull a stupid stunt like shutting down online services I wont buy any new consoles from them.

Depends if the service is still profitable and is still used by a high number of people, otherwise it will be shut down.

What makes me laugh is the complete lack of content week in and week out on both the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One.

You would think that come every weekly update we would have some serious Indy Games or at least some better content .

All the stuff seems to be focused on the older generation,why isn't World of Tanks on next gen,I just don't get it.

The only real bonus will be when the new games like Watchdigs and Wofenstein look far better on the newer machines.

Seriously though I have to openly admit as to this day 6 months later I didn't need to buy any of the current next generation machines ,I would actually say I have done less gaming in the last 6 months than all of my previous gaming years.

there seems to be some anger out there at the moment why DLC indie/arcade games havent been carried over. That and the fact that the ps3/360 install base is higher is probably affecting where developers target their platform.

Also given how long it takes to make a game, my guess is any small developer who was making in game in 2013 to be released in 2014 will have targeted 360/ps3/pc not ps4/x1. So basically will be a time lag.

Whats happened with xbox live content e.g. I think has put people of digital content, and people suddenly are wary and maybe waiting to see if old content gets shutdown. If it does I think digital sales will nosedive off a cliff. So if we take trance's replay as an example, sony and co when making their decision have to factor in that a turn off will hit future sales as consumer trust will plummet.

No prob. Was thinking Puppeteer would be a good game to play with my daughter but not sure if its suitable for a 7 year old, will have to check first. Anyone played the Payday games? Have the first one sitting on the PS3 but haven't tried it.

I would think any PS+ games would be yours for as long as you still subscribe to the service, I see no reason for them to remove them. Would only [censored] people off.

I thought Payday was very good. The only trouble was that the controls were too heavy for my (Call Of Duty) preference. And it's really best played co-operatively with mates. Give the second one a go mate if it's free, it should be nice too look at if nothing else.

I certainly do feel like I've missed out on anything by not buying a next gen machine

I thought the Heists in GTA 5 were brilliant so this could be my sort of game.

That PC game the Swapper is out next week,that looks like a buy for me .not a Plus Game but a release on the Playstation network on Wednesday .

Hadn't heard of that but just watched a review and it looks good, wouldn't mind playing that at some point.
