Just wondering if you have a favourite character in GTA?
My favourite character is Franklin and try to play him as much as possible, he seems like the best of a bad bunch.
I really don't like the Trevor and try to avoid playing him as much as possible. Not a nice person at all.
Even though the game's what it is I try to be a good person whilst playing and was even a bit [censored] off when I killed one of the Jurors friends. The girl on the yacht that was dirty dancing for him. Not happy when I run people over by accident either. But if someone has a go at me then they're fair game and I'll open a can of whoop [censored] on them
Maybe I'm taking it too seriously

I tend to run too many people over that's my problem. Just drive all over the pavement and take short cuts through parks and on the beach etc. After a while you won't mind running everybody down as they are just a nuisance and in the way.
See your point with playing characters you might not really like that much - I've had moral conflicts in games before - like in Skyrim when want you to kill Parthanax but if something is necessary I'll do it regardless. With GTA it's a bit different in you're encouraged to let your hair down and go on the rampage - they're just sprites afterall.
Having said the above there's definitely a limit and overall I consider myself to play stupidly morally in the main as I can't get myself to play evilly. In Dishonoured I finished the game as good - there were two other endings - middle of the road and evil, dependent on how much carnage you caused throughout the game but it's a game and I meant to go back and see how much damage I could manage to get the evil ending. I bet Timey got the evil one if he even finished it.
Well. Probably an interesting subject for social scientists in the emerging field of cyberpsychology, how you play in morally conflicted circumstances and how easy it is for some to take the moral handbrake off.

I just got to the part where Trevor has to torture a sprite. They give you a few options on how to do it and I choose what I thought would be the less harmful for the sprite. Waterboarding. You have no choice but to do it if you want to carry on with the story. I just skipped the scenes to get out of that part
Not the sort of thing I imagine people will want their kids to do even if it is just a game

I agree, I was slightly uncomfortable playing that part. Perhaps a little too far?

Well at the end of the day it's a rated M for mature and if the irresponsible parents let there children play this sort of game then why should sound minded adults that know the difference between real life violence and in game fiction
We had the same with tha Airport scene in Modern Warfare and I'm sick to death of the stupid idiots and mindless thugs that use games as a excuse to justify there stupid irresponsible behaviour to the extent of the terrible shootings in American Schools and the Norway Masacre which both had links to those people and violent games.
It's a game,it's meant to get a response ,but it's not meant for pea brained idiots to reinact what's in a fictional piece of software, these people are what they are with or without games.

GTA is about a group of thugs/ gangsters really and it would not be in keeping if they went around hosting tupaware parties now would it

Haha

Haha not at all, but torture is pretty far

So is a Airport Massacre in MW.........I admit you could skip the scene but it was there all the same, personally i hate any kind of violence but am of sound mind to know that in the normal society its not acceptable and in game its not suppose to be real.

Remember the Chainsaw shower scene in the Film Scarface which in truth is more realistic than some polygon characters in some game.
Heard about the part in the game but have not quite got there yet,is it like pulling teeth in Marathon Man another nasty torture scene..........Seems games get blamed for everything wrong in the world.
Imagine games getting banned like Battlefield and Cod which if you think about it is are all about killing, imagine living in a society where people in power start censoring what we watch, what we play, its bad enough at present with the stupid laws.
Government should stop telling us lies like knife crime is down yet 2 people in Birmingham are dead within a week, when are these people in power going to do something and have a deterrent ,carry a knife your going down.........Simples...............

Watching a film showing something is a bit different to actually making you do it. I don't have kids but if I did I wouldn't want them playing that part

Again thats why its rated M for MATURE.......Kids aint suppose to be playing it and only idiot parents with wayward spoilt teenagers are to blame for either buying the game for them, letting them play it from a friend or turning a complete blind eye to the rating system.
Why should grown up responsible adults be punished or have stuff censored because of irresponsible parenting and kids that have no lack of respect....
There is no discipline anymore, detention in schools has stopped, canning at schools has stopped, can not call a Blackboard a Blackboard,no gollies on Jam Jars.......all these so called do gooders have completed ruined society and kids have no respect for anyone and are in theory in some cases out of control.
its a subject that totally gets my back up,i mean kids can now report there parents for giving them a clip around the ears........Come on........Tell you what and i dont have kids but if they did they can stick that rule where the sun don't shine and if one of my kids bad mouthed me or anyone else for that matter he would get my boot up his/her backside and would be grounded for a week.
I know one thing i would know where they are and what time they are expected to be in ,and they would not be roaming the street at 15 at midnight terrorising housing estates like some rouge families we have doing it today across the uk.
We have all seen the news about the rogues terrorising certain areas to find out that they blank out there pictures or can not be named because they are to young..........Birch em thats what i say ,bring back the public floggings down the town on a saturday morning.......I will do the whipping

Waterboarding? Ya big softee. What are the other choices? Give me a nice sharp knife and a pair of pliers and I'll have 'em talking in no time.
I think I might enjoy torturing some computer character actor but that's a world away from the real thing and a gigantic step at that I'd argue. No matter how good the acting and graphics are, the real deal would be a whole lot more visceral and repugnant at that. Only a psycho would enjoy it or some posh publicly educated schoolboy working for the intelligence service (same thing I guess).

It could be televised as a new reality tv programme. Definitely a change from the usual kids Saturday morning entertainment!

The only apprehension I have with running people down, is alerting the rozzers.
Remember the Die Hard Trilogy? Running pedestrians over on the sidewalk, turning the wipers on to remove the blood from the windscreen and Brucey baby shouting "Are you aiming for those people?"
You even got to set the gore level. Loved it!

My favourite traffic scene is Highlander with The Kurgan/Victor Kruger singing Frank Sinatra's New York! Excuse me!

If they remade the third person one where you worked through the building killing terrorists, and changed it to first person mode, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
