Only £59.99 if you are forced to buy the game when it first comes out, if like me you are prepared to wait a few months then they will be a lot cheaper tongue

Good things come to those who wait laugh

If a games on the market and its released and it gets rave reviews and its my type of game i wait for nobody, especially a few quid price drop or a discount at a supermarket.

By the time you invest in the game i have more than likely moved on to better things or other games unless the multiplayer shines and i think Killzone Shadowfall will certainly do that.

lifes to short........Waiting is for Fishermen.tongue Not true gamers blush

£60 is about what all new console games start at on a new console launch, usually they have a price drop down in time but games and accessories are where the profits come for microsoft and sony, who want to turn a profit as soon as possible on their new investments.

actually £60 was predicted months ago.

This next gen console business publishers are loving.

You can probably build a pc thats capable of playing most games at HD res for about £400.

Monitor to go with that £100-150, even IPS monitors are cheap now, I got a asus HDMI IPS for £120.

Since steam sales are regular, and they dont do that preorder exclusive rubbish then you can get games for a lot cheaper so someone who buys many games will probably get the pc investment back in a year. Also take out the cash you may be paying for online multiplayer gaming as is no such fees on the pc.

The issue really been is console exclusive games, can you do without them.

£55 for a controller £25 for a charger HAHAHA

Listen Swanny your a console gamer and you know it,you have no intention of getting a really good high powered PC and Battlefield 4 will be played on your ageing Playstation 3,and if you do invest and i know you will you will still be console playing with a Playstation 4.

And i still think within weeks if not come November 29th you will be on here saying how wonderful your Playstation 4 is and how great Battlefield 4 looks and plays especially on the new well designed Duelshock 4 Pad. smile

Isn't this the same RRP as on the current generation? Doesn't mean retailers will sell games at this price. Just had a look on Amazon and BF4 is £47 for the PS4.

Shopto all though not the cheapest but certainly not the dearest have Killzone Shadowfall to pre/order at £54.99 and some games are £59.99.

It goes without saying they were going to be dearer but 50% is asking a little to much even though it wont refrain me from buying the games i want.

does the current gen have an rrp of £55 for controllers then?

seems next gen is about milking the consumer. When all these pre orders started selling out sony must have realised they hit the jackpot and time to jack up those prices.

Accessories especially official products have always been expensive ,a duel shock 3 is £39.99 and thats 7 years old so its expected that there will be a price increase with the duel shock 4 with the new interaface and touch pad control and updated hardware.

Im not promoting the price hike and i don't think £24.99 for the official charging dock is out of line in todays market as i paid more for the Microsoft product on the 360.

Like you said originally,Sony are taking a hit on the consoles and need to make some money on the other bits and the Playstation Plus standard subscription that will be required for online play which in most peoples cases is a must.

As for the console and whats in it and what has changed over the past 7 years i think £349 is fantastic value for money given the price of the original Playstation 3 launch price of £499 7 years ago.

I really don't understand how any Gamer PC or not has a gripe with Sony Price point and the Playstation 4

Lately accessories for the current gen have gone up in price.

I was wondering why at the time and I think its to try and make the next gen prices seem more sane. Its also quite possibly due to them winding down manufacturing as I guess demand has fallen lately as well.

2 years ago I got a 360 controller brand new for £13.

sony controllers which feel cheap are horrificly overpriced. I have controllers that cost £10 that feel better quality. A 2 year old yahoo question I seen asking how much they cost had an answer of £25. I use a 3rd party controller on my ps3.

If you look or take any notice of gaming Journalist and reviews of the duel shock 4 you will see that they say it has a fantastic feel and build quality and is a lot better than the Xbox One.

Again personally i didn't have a issue with the duel shock 3 and found it fine without any issues and feeling that its cheap.

Shadow Fall is £49 on Amazon. Sony did say that the RRP (for first party games) would be the same next gen as it is for the current one. So given a bit of time they should settle to the £39.99 price point. No way I will be paying £50+ for a game.

Still not there so I have raised a ticket with the question. I pre-ordered over six months ago, so should (according to Sony) be first in line to upgrade to that package.

Blues fans are excluded however, pending a full psychiatric evaluation.

We have some fantastic news - we are delighted to let you know that we can guarantee your PlayStation 4 console for launch on 29th November!

As you may have read Sony have recently announced three new PlayStation 4 console bundles. We are currently working on our stock allocation for these and will notify you next week if a swap option from your current pre-order to one of these new bundles will be available to you.

We hope that you have a great weekend and that this exciting news makes it even better! We're off to relax for a couple of days but if you have any queries please note we are open Monday to Friday between 9am-6pm.

umm I think you have lost it in defending this device.

I am talking about the ps3 dualshock I think that was obvious.

Regardless of how good quality it may be the price for the controller is pretty obscene.

Are you now accusing me of pretending I own some consoles? thats clutching at straws.

Some people are really defensive of the gaming industry (especially console) which is why I have in the past tried to stay out of gaming discussions as these sort of comments always popup.

No offence Chrysalis, but as politely insistent as you are, consistent you are not. One minute PC's are cheaper to build than next gen consoles, next minute SteamBoxes are a cheap way of entering the PC market? Consolers aren't bright enough to understand PC set ups? Most consolers don't have PC's so Microsoft put Internet Explorer on the Xbox? Basing opinions on conjecture never ends well.

I'm not sure why you're so bothered about other people being excited for the next gen and I am certainly not a fanboy, just a realist. PC's are harder work, end of. I don't want one and its not because you are brighter than me, or because I'm blinded by marketing, but because that's the way I like it. Stop throwing the word fanboy around and look more closely at your own posting style.

a fanboy is someone who thinks they need to defend a particular product. In particular they cannot accept criticism of that product and dont realise what they doing. these are rife in console gaming.

not just with console vs pc but also console vs console, the long discussion threads I have seen with ps3 and xbox360 fanboys fighting each other is endless.

The entire industry relies on this to sell games and dlc at inflated prices. I have seen many times people have said they have brought a game simply to support a company, thats how far it goes.

People wanted a reviewer fired simply because a reviewer didnt give gta5 10/10. Accepting criticism fail.

you havent understood what I said.

a decent gaming pc can be built of rless than a next gen console.

however....

most console gamers think a decent gaming pc costs £1000 to build so to them its too expensive.

I thought it was clear enough however I tried to dumb it down but I guess not.

You wouldn't have to try very hard to dumb anything down.

People here are excited for their new consoles, irrespective of what PC's may or may not be capable of or indeed cost.

Can you list the specs of a decent gaming PC you can build for £349. That must include the case and everything inside of it. We will assume the person has a monitor and peripherals. It should also include a copy of the latest Windows but we could leave that off to give you a chance.

Oi! You been offered a mega bundle from shopto yet? They're going for the earliest pre-orderers first and then working their way down the list. I ordered 8th March and it don't look like I'm going to be offered one. frown

Been offered the swap for bundle deal when originally there were about 14 bundles, when I played the Battlefield 4 beta on Friday I went back to shopto.net to try and change to a different bundle because Battlefield 4 was part of my bundle and quite frankly I would rarther have Knack because that Battlefield 4 is just plane aweful .

Now the choice is limited to just 3 and thank heavens one of them bundles is the Killzone Shadowfall bundle, had to add watchdogs though but dumped that Battlefield 4 thank god..

Not checked my emails for the last few days and if I don't get offered the mega deal having placed my playstation 4 order on 21 feb and being one of there best customers then you got more chance of a night out with Cameron Diaz ....and that's Fat Chance wink.

Will let you know mate.....smile

UPDATE...

No emails ,no special offer on a mega bundle for me.....Ordered Cancelled...I'm going to build a PC instead for £29.99 ....a top of the range Gaming one at that ...blush

And less of the Oi ?....Me and Spook have been having some nice chats on Skype,I know your shy so we won't ask you to join us tongue

I have ordered the camera now along with a load of other bits and bobs.....don't ask me why I have ordered the camera but hopefully it will have more uses than just some motion controlled gaming gimmick without any decent games...

By the way where did you hear about shopto.net offering customers mega deals....I ain't happy as I have not received any emails in my inbox .blush

I emailed them and asked if they were planning to offer it and they said:

Thank you for your PlayStation 4 pre-order. Your console is guaranteed for launch and in just a couple of short months you'll be playing Sony's next generation console!

We now have confirmed details of the new PlayStation 4 console bundles recently announced by Sony and are pleased to inform you that the Watch Dogs and Killzone bundles are available for you to swap your pre-order to should you wish. Swapping couldn't be easier - simply visit the pre-orders section of your account, click the SWAP icon next to your pre-order and select the bundle you want to switch to.

Regarding the Killzone 'Mega Bundle' that Sony have also announced, we have decided that due to the high demand but short supply for this item that the fairest approach is to offer this bundle to customers who have pre-ordered a PlayStation 4 based on their pre-ordered date. We will be in touch this week with the first customers eligible to swap to this bundle and then contact further customers based on how many decide to make the switch until all stock has been allocated. Please note unfortunately we cannot tell you at this point if you're eligible to swap so please do not contact us to ask, but rest assured if you are we'll send you a ticket to let you know!

Kind Regards,

The ShopTo Team

Well Sony told the world about the Playstation 4 console on my Birthday of this year 20/02/2013,the following day on the 21st i placed my pre/order as soon as Shopto had them listed on there site so i doubt you get much quicker than this.

I did get a email about 6 weeks ago regarding the bundles that i could now swap to with the information you listed, there was a Killzone,Watchdogs and Battlefield Pants tongue bundle which originally i went for but no Killzone/Watchdogs only bundle.

So unless you are referring to the email i got some weeks ago then I'm not quite sure if that is the email you are on about but 6 weeks behind like usual blush,or did you also get a email about 6 weeks ago regarding the bundles or have you never been offered the bundle deals in the first place.

Besides we are not saving that much when you look at the deals anyway so as long as i get my mits on the Playstation 4 and my games and stuff come November 29th when Swanny is cursing the way his Battlefield 4 looks on his Playstation 3 then i don't care.wink

I just posted the email Mr Magoo. And £440 for the PS4, an extra controller, the camera and Killzone is a good 50 quid saving. smile

As you say you're now getting a camera, you should raise a ticket and ask so they know you're interested.

Sent them a email to see what they have to say........It better be positive because you have stirred up a barrel load of trouble if they don't offer me this deal.

T2D is on the warpath.mad
