Just got a email and a text alert from my supplier shopto.net saying my Playstation 4 order has been packed and Shipped with DPD next Business day delivery 9am to 6pm mainland and it's on its way to you.
Now I love shopto.net and people will know by my pasts posts that the majority of stuff arrives generally the day before a launch date and on a few occasions 2 days at most.
So I'm a little suspicious regarding them sending it out this early ,I can only think they have informed DPD not to deliver until the 29th but there is no mention of this in the text alert .
If I was reading it as I see it then this will turn up tomorrow or Tuesday...
And both of those days I'm not here

As it's DPD you should get a update first thing tomorrow with the delivery slot time if it is really on the way. That's too bad you are out though otherwise you would be super excited.
|
|
|
|
Yeah there tracking is brilliant and if they are delivering tomorrow and i can not for the life of me think they would because I'm sure suppliers/retailers get in some serious trouble when they break street release dates buy this much.
I will be in Rest Assured and will find some way to be around, personally i don't think this will happen because its just to early,i expected shop to.net to send confirmation of shipping Wednesday at the earliest mate.

Well, just to be sure. Share the delivery detail login info with me and I'll make sure it - ahem - gets to where it's going. Yeah, rest assured. Your parcel will be safe with me.

Until you sell it for a tidy profit, that is...

No, I would keep it safe and sound. With me forever.

There is no way this is coming before Friday, apparently they have shipped many Playstation 4 consoles to DPD and they have gone to the central warehouse and apparently they will be scanned for delivery Wednesday or Thursday for Friday delivery.
|
|
|
Well generally next business day means just that, next day. DPD are also very reliable.
I ordered a sim on thursday, it didnt get shipped until friday, it had delivery date of monday, DPD delivered it saturday, they dont mess around.
But it is possible there is instructions to hold it.

If they sent it early they would get in HUGE trouble and they already got done didn't they for releasing something earlier this year? Was it GTA or something? I remember reading an article from the CEO saying they should be able to send it early which is absolutely ridiculous.

I imagine (considering the logistics) there are special circumstances involved in shipping all these new consoles and Shopto's already cleared it with the big boys and girls at Sony so some customer's may get their toys a day or two early.
Shopto say they want to guarantee launch day delivery so it's only sensible to work with your courier to work out in advance how to get these shifted in time so old men who otherwise would have nothing to write about get their gaming devices in time.
Really doubt Shopto or anyone else (within reason) will get in trouble if they've already explained their position and cleared it with Sony, who, after all, also have a vested interest in ensuring their customers are happy.

it happened in america and they got away with it, I think its better to get something early than get it late.

They had a dispute about Cod Ghosts because they wanted to deliver it on Friday for November5th delivery which i think was a Tuesday which tied into the postage strike for a day.
So basically they were told by Activision or publisher whatever they could only despatch the game on the Monday so Shopto.net at the time basically decided that no preorders could be put on this game and at the time there was no mention of Cod Ghosts on there website.

I don't think that's very fair on retailers though. They already struggle with fierce pricing competition, if people can order them online and get it earlier than release day what hope do they have? The only thing the retailer has above online competition is going to the shop and seeing the product in front of you AND being guaranteed to get it on that day. In my opinion if you're ordering online and want the game on release day it's your risk.
I know that goes against what most people probably think on here, but I just think it is more fair that way. Both should have their own advantages, online have price and retailers have physical product onsite for you to take away in minutes. I guess the other argument is the high street will be dead soon anyway, but it will be a bit of a sad world when all we have is online shops.

I prefer to go and physically pick up my games/consoles from the shop and i used to do that before Game got greedy and bought and ruined Gamestation then closed them down.
So on that principle i decided to look for online game sites and in the 4 years i have been using shopto.net they have never ever failed me with the added bonus of getting the majority of stuff a day or so early.
I don't like Game and the high street now is basically limited to them and them only,Blockbusters are not exactly a Gaming shop but did sell games and you could pre/order and trade but now they have gone to the dogs,HMV are still around but they are struggling.
There is hardly a independent game shop on the high street and 10 years ago there was many,Game have become the Supermarket equivalent of gaming but I'm not keen on them so i shop online and it works well for me apart from the fact i have to wait for the goods.
Last time i bought a Xbox and Playstation 3 they were ordered through Gamestation and on release i was there at 9am on the day.

and that would be the main issue, sony I think will only care after other retailers complain to sony, which as you said probably would happen.
the high street is on its way out anyway.
my city centre already looks a bleak place, nearly every other shop is empty.

yeah I dont like game either, and they now doing things to force people to use them.
I got a reply of square enix about a game pre order exclusive, this was the reply.
"We cannot tell you if the exclusive DLC will be available to purchase after launch, this is due to our contract with GAME UK that we cannot disclose this information, so I apologise you dont like using GAME to purchase our games but it is the only way to get this particular DLC in the uk."
The reason I asked them that is in one of their previous games FF13-2 the pre order DLC did actually come out to buy after launch, so it was only a timed exclusive not permanent. Since I dont want to lose the DLC I had to order from game .

Good for you!
Unfortunately I have two emails from Shopto.net and don't know which address it will be shipped to. Not impressed at all at waiting three days between replies. I would have rang them today, but yesterday's email gave the revised delivery address so I made arrangements. Now I've received another email with the original address.
Communication is king nowadays and Shopto have failed miserably on that count.

What the...? You cheeky [censored]. I told you about the map thing. And I think it's really cool actually. Feckin' cheeky fecker.
Don't tell me you don't think it's good. I bet you will be utterly transfixed and glued to that map counting down the deliveries till it gets to yours. I'm glad I'm not the courier as I expect he'll be getting a big slobbery kiss from Mr Magoo tomorrow!

Yeah mate its a great system i watched to see where he was with my Zelda 3DS the other week, amazing system that you can watch the guy delivery in real time and only a few minutes out.
Infact i was number 82 and i watched on this Mac as it went from 77 to 78 and told me estimated 10 minutes away and all that sort of thing..
I did comment about the system earlier last week and i was been sarcastic when i said i could be sad and watch him real time, don't worry when i check my text tomorrow with the estimated delivery time i will be tracking him for sure.
Your right Spook he is going to get a massive Mr Magoo kiss,I'm even going to take my teeth out, saying that if he turns up at 6pm and I'm the last drop it will be a massive kick in his [censored]

If he's late, let's hope he's had all the kids he wants already then. If not, that he's doesn't mind being slobbered on too much.
Chances are he might've made a few people over excited already that day if he's been dropping off lots of PS4s.

I love DPD I wish all couriers were like them. My driver is called Lee and we are on first name terms now. He even leaves packages for my neighbours with me.
|
|
|
Come on then let's here your initial thoughts and impressions
My mate picked his up from Game this morning but unfortunately looks like I'm one of DPD last drops as it's estimated between 3 and 4pm buy Jonathan who I see quite often when he delivers stuff to me.
He won't be getting a Christmas tip today though .
