PS4 or Xbone?

So as i'm one of the unfortunate ones or maybe even fortunate? to not own one of the new consoles yet, now they're both out what are the honest opinions on them from those that own one? I won't get one now until after christmas and even if i could afford one right now obviously stock permitting i think i'm better off waiting until after the dust has truely settled!

Also no fanboys, just honest opinions needed lol!!

I won't answer then and just for the record if you buy one console over the other then there is a obvious reason ,fanboy I'm not but after the reveal I made my decision many many months ago,usually own all the consoles but for now the One that is more Powerful

I have bought an Xbox One and my housemate has bought the PS4, they are both completely different consoles for different kind of gamers to be honest. The Xbox One dashboard beats the PS4, the PS4 one seems quite sluggish and is not as easy to navigate as the Xbox. The Xbox also seems to have a better online community, I get the impression PS4 is for a gamer who isn�t going to be playing as much with friends online etc. That may sound silly with multiplayer games like COD, BF and Killzone all being on the PS4 but I dunno, it lacks the community spirit you get with an Xbox but it has always been that way.

The PS4 looks better graphically on the games I have seen so far. One of the levels on Killzone looked incredible, really really beautiful stuff. I think that is more the game though than the console and I am jealous I can�t get it on the Xbox haha. I got Battlefield on the Xbox One on Monday evening after work and I have hardly been able to put it down. It�s a real improvement on the Xbox 360 and I can tell straight away that it�s more powerful. The graphics are nicer, we have 32 v 32 now insteas of 16 v 16 and generally it seems a much smoother experience. It�s more like the smoothness of COD but still with the great gameplay of Battlefield. BF3 on the 360 always felt a little clunky and at some points the graphics were a bit bland, particularly trees and bushes but on the Xbox One they seem much nicer.

I think ultimately though we have not seen the best from either console, we will start to see more next year as developers have more time to push the systems harder. I think Titanfall will be a good game on the Xbox One, at least I hope it will.

It�s a hard choice to make, they are both great consoles. I personally went for Xbox because I have a few friends on it, I really like the dashboard with the seamless integration with things like Netflix / Lovefilm and I personally think the Xbox has a better list of games coming over the next 12 months. It suits me more, but I think both consoles suit different gamers. The most important thing is looking at what titles are coming up and what you think you will play.

Well my Dashboard is far from Sluggish on the Playstation 4 and can actually say it's about 100 times better than the Sluggish Playstation 3 .

If it's on Power then it's a Playstation 4,if it's about looks then it's a Playstation 4 ,if it's about media then it's a Xbox One and the big one will be the games and from what I have seen of games on the horizon then the Playstation 4 also wins that honour.

Again I'm not saying that the Xbox One is a Useless machine and next year if they have some really good exclusive games on it that I want to play then I will buy one,but I don't see anything on that system that makes me think that at the moment or anytime in the next 6 months,even Titanfall to me fails to impress,but a a Epic made Gears with a next generation horde mode and I'm sold


As for the Xbox One having a better list of games next year Jaxxy boy.....are you serious or what ?

Infamous second son will out shine any title released on that machine next year,and if they release the Last Guardian then it will completely blow that system out of the water.

As for Battlefield 4 it still has the wrapper on it,same with Cod Ghosts where the wrapper based on my mates thoughts and opinions may even remain on for good,only played Killzone Shadowfall and the superb r/type game Resogun which is free .

I suspect that i will end up with both, its just a case of which first and currently i'm leaning more towards the ps4 but i seem to change my mind daily lol so its probably a good thing i have to wait until the kids have had everything they want for chrimbo!!!!!

Best check out what Exclusive games are out on both systems during the next 6 months,I know many are looking forward to Respawn Xbox One FPS exclusive XBox One Game Titanfall and I'm looking forward to Infamous second Son,both have Watchdogs and both will have 90% of what's released!what's going to look better and does it matter is a personal thing !developers know the Playstation 4 is more powerful and has more potential than a Xbox One,that's not saying there won't be at some point a gorgeous looking game on it .

I'm happy with my Playstation 4 like Nelly and Jaxx is happy with his Xbox One and that's all that counts,I'm sure come this time next year we will see the true potential of both the consoles.

Like I said if certain games come to Xbox One I want to play then I would not hesitate to buy one,I'm even considering a year later picking up a Nintendo Wii U because I love The look of the New Mario 3d game and the recently released new Pikmen game,if it had a new Zelda and Metroid I would have bought one without hesitation

Well purely because i currently game on my ps3 and occasionally my 2013 iMac and obviously either new console would be an upgrade to both!!
I agree with you jaxx ps3 online has never been a patch on xbox live but hopefully that will change this time around! I know the ps4 is better on the spec sheet than the xbone but so was the ps3 compared to the 360 but that counted for nothing, this generation seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet so i don't think the devs will struggle with the ps4 like they did the ps3 which is obviously a good thing.

I dobnt own either but my 5 pence worth is to buy the one that has the games that interst you the most as its the games that provide the enjoyment, if I brought either a ps4 or xbox one now they would just be collecting dust.

I can agree and agree to disagree on most of your post Jaxx, but not on the PS4 dashboard. It's damn near instant on mine and the load times are superb in comparison to last gen. I've been reading that the Xbox one suffers from long loading times. Have you found that?

Never had a xbox but always feel as though I missed out not being able to play forza series. I wouldn't buy the bone because of the spy [censored] with the cameras and nothing on the PS4 interests me at the mo. So I'm going to wait a while, plus games will be cheaper when I'm ready

Yea that's exactly it guys, pick the console that has the best games for you. Don't get lost in all the arguments of "well the Xbox is just a media console" as it's all absolute poppycock. The difference in graphics is negligible so don't let that sway your decision. They both look great!

You don't have to have the Kinect plugged in if you don't want to. It is really good though, they have made the games much more interactive like I think I said on one post the other day in Dead Rising you can whistle or shout at the zombies to attract them to you etc. Still feels a bit odd shouting at the tele, but hey it's something a little different. If you want to unplug the Kinect you just pull the wire out the back, it's not hardwired in or anything it's pretty cool too that you can have your Xbox "always on" in a kind of standy mode so when you walk in the room it just comes on instantly and is like "HEY JAXX!" as the Kinect camera is SO much better it recognizes you every time.

I was sold on a PS4 for ages, then right at the last minute I thought "why am I swaying towards the PS4? Mainly because of reading stuff online with people hating on the Xbox". So then I decided I would stick to what I know and I am happy I did

I should add I will still get a PS4 I think, just not yet. Killzone looks good but not good enough to warrant the whole console. Infamous, meh, the first one was alright I played it on my housemates PS3 but not that much to write home about and I don't really know anyone that thought it was that amazing.

On the Xbox we have Quantum Break and Titanfall coming in the Spring which both look pretty sweet. Quantum Break looks like a game version of the TV show Fringe, and I absolutely love Fringe so I am quite excited about it. Plus it is by Remedy who made Alan Wake which is one of my favourite games!

Like I say though, different horses for courses.

That's my biggest dislike about the xbone. I don't want any of that facial recognition [censored] going on in my house, especially not with something that's connected to the internet

Yes I am with you on that I dislike how everything seems to be getting cameras and mics built into them, all connected wirelessly to a high speed connection

These are what I see as being the benefits of the PS4, some are obviously very subjective and it's just my opinion

Its more powerful
It costs less
Sony have a better understanding of what gamers want and have built a console with this in mind, that it's primary function is for gaming.
Better exclusive games

The only reason I could see for me getting a XBOX is if I had several friends who I wanted to game with on one or if there were a number of unmissable exclusive games.

The one thing I don't understand with the "graphics row" is that people seem to have forgotten games are about having fun haha. My mate sent me a link about Assassins Creed running at 900P on the Xbox and 1080P on the PS4. Personally I think AC looks awesome on the Xbox One, if it looks a bit better on the Ps4 too then that's sweet but would it make me enjoy the game more? Not at all! I have loads of fun on it and a slight improvement on graphics would not impact on the enjoyment I get from the game

You are right it's about having fun but I do appreciate nice graphics at the same time, but if the difference is minimal it is not really a issue...not sure if I would even notice between 900p and 1080p. I am actually quite happy right now playing GTA 5 which I think has very nice graphics already.

dice have stated they dropped 1080p to allow more players in BF multiplayer and 60fps.

right decision in my view.

whats funny as well is that bf4 at 720 and 900p looks a lot better visually than cod at 1080p. proving pixel count is overhyped for visuals.

Don't think thats really a fair comparison matey,most things look better than Cod Ghosts with the dated engine ,even MW1

Im yet to take the wrapper of Battlefield as i have quite a few i want to finish before i do that,from what i have seen it looks really nice and Nelly is well impressed even though he has yet to play it like me.

As long as it looks better than the abysmal playstation 3 version i witnessed��Thats was just plane awful .

Was looking for this Blacklight retribution game on the PS Store that wasn't there but has now just turned up after been a USA day Download.

Wish they would have just the one main store so everybody has and gets the same��.Prices also

From the gamers reviews and opinions its a game i wasn't going to bother with but because the launch titles are few and far between i went for this game��.Another with the wrapper on��.Possibly sell it on ebay for £30 or something.

I created a twitch account on the PS4 today. The PS4 has an area called Playstation Live. It had Ustream and Twitch on the menu. You can watch people streaming to your hearts content, but when you try to text chat with the streamer it says you need a Twitch account. So I clicked it and it took literally 30 seconds. Now apparently, whenever I'm playing a game I only have to press the share button and it will start streaming live. Sounds too easy but I might give it a go later and see. I will set the camera up after Christmas as I don't want the kids to see the Playroom until then. But when I do, the whole world see me in the corner of the screen in full Tourettes mode.

I was watching and chatting with an American guy today playing BF4 and it looked awesome. I don't think the 900 to 1080 will be that noticeable, but you will be mightily impressed with the improvement over GTAV mate. It really does make a tremendous difference to the clarity as opposed to BF3.

And the regulars know I wasn't a huge BF fan before.

I made a Twitch account as well,but it don't store the game data does it,besides that nobody will see you doing anything until you change your settings mate ,as I said your not listed on the Network only by name Nelly .

So there is a setting there somewhere that you need to enable for the 100th time of asking,can not see any of your scores or recent activity ?

What are peoples thoughs about the cost of additional PS4 controllers, seems quite a price increase from black to red.

Black- £49
Blue- £55
Red- £70

Will need to look to get another for a christmas present to go with the ps4 but even black at 49 is quite a expensive addition.

I bought the mega bundle with extra controller for that reason. Killzone was always going to be my launch game and the wife wanted the camera for the kids, so it always meant the extra controller was the freebie.

It's a numbers game I guess. As the colours get more popular they will get cheaper. I have had three dual shock threes for my personal use and always wanted to obviously differentiate my "best" controller to stop the kids from bending the sticks. The colours were more expensive then as well, but my latest red one cost me the same as the standard black ones.

As for why the red is £70, I would say its so popular that retailers will try to profit off it for Christmas. I would never pay that, but I do think they are reasonable value at £39.99. My dual shocks lasted around three years before starting to "walk" on their own and the battery life was phenomenal. My mates biggest gripe about his 360 was the battery issue.

It's not just any FPS. It's Battlefield! You've got some real vets here mate. Toady, Swanny and me for three. So there's 3 dudes at least who could certainly teach you a thing or two about the series for sure! Yeah I had a Nes back in the day,I make no secret that I am always looking for great looking games in the graphics department,when a game looks good it makes for a more immersive experience ,Killzone Shadowfall first level and the rain effect look really poor,but as you get into the game and see the amount of detail and draw distance with not a single pop up and things trees,mountains and building trying to load as you advance certainly makes it a far more better believable experience.

I agree from the previous small amount of time playing the previous games,I find the actual aiming and trying to kill someone far harder than most FPS I have played,again it's far more tactical and not of the Run and Gun Spray and Pray variety and lone gunner that I'm used to

Buy a black one and some red paint

The red one looks like one of those crapppy 4x4 Audi estates with mega plastic wheel arches.

Just goes to show the exploitation in this industry and others and what the market is and who will buy these things,yes they look nice in Red but it's the same controller and offers nothing more apart from the colour yet some stores/ online places are asking £15 extra.

Not saying I would not have bought one but not for the price listed earlier,they are the same price on shopto.

It's like all these special game editions at stupid prices,I have seen next year there is a Watchdogs special edition for £100 and I have seen others at £200 ,most come with a DVD,plastic toy or something and may be a key ring or some remote drone as in Cod.

Never did see the point of any of the prestige editions unless it gives you all the map packs and download stuff throughout the year at a considerable saving.

The plastic toys and DVD making of they can shove up there Jaxy .

It's just for collectors mate. Silly really because they will have nothing to play it on in 50 years time when even your toaster is powered from da Cloud (or du Cloud if you prefer French toast).

Just had a look at Amazon and the Red controller that is priced at £69.99 is from a Market Place seller who can charge anything they like as on Ebay. Amazon themselves have the controller for £54.99 but it is out of stock. Don't know why Amazon do this it just reflects bad on them IMO, the market place should have some separation.

Well the Xbox One turned up today with Fifa 14 instead of Forza 4 so I bought that with the £50 voucher which came with it but now have no shooter until at least Christmas!!
On a more positive note when I finally got to play (had a blonde moment, hdmi in the wrong place lol) I was blown away by Forzas visuals, control seems quite a bit different to Forza 4 but it has been a while since I played it! Navigating the dashboard and jumping in and out of games was seamless. Downloads were also very speedy . As for Fifa much the same as before but way better visuals, also beat my lad on penalties . So all in all, so far so good!!!

Would love a game like Forza on console. It'd be nice to get into driving games again. Made me laugh about the HDMI moment. I remember when I got a new TV and had to give up and look in the manual just to work out how to turn it on.

Yeaaa, Fifa 14 is really impressive. Like you say much of the same but with much improved graphics, did you think the replays look really good? Especially the detail of the grass and the "limbs" of the players as they take a shot etc. looks very realistic, very impressive.

You need to get yourself BF4 as soon as possible, it's incredible!

Ive already said i was blown away by Battlefield 4 single player game which is generally the weakest link as its renown for Multiplayer,unfortunately the playstation 4 is on route back to the online supplier for replacement so with both Killzone and Battlefield i will have to start from scratch hopefully this weekend when they return a brand new one.

I'm still not convinced its the actual console but we will see for sure when the next one arrives and if it behaves in the same way then there is obviously some conflict here.

No i only had to send what came in the Killzone Bundle pack,which was the game,the camera and the 2 controllers,unfortunately I'm stuck with Cod Ghosts and i don't even think i want to unwrap and play it.

You were bang on with FIFA 14 Jaxx. I downloaded the demo from the PSN, Barca vs Real. So realistic at times and I was tempted to pick it up but decided to wait and went for BF4 first.

hey matey there are plenty of faulty Xbox Ones ,just do a Google search and you will see many and on YouTube !

Just hope for your sake you don't get another Red Ring Of Death���But i doubt it the size of the unit,you need reinforced Glass plate shelving just to house it .

I've got to admit Jaxx, this has started happening on my ps4 now. I wondered if it was anything to do with the amount of stuff I now have on the dashboard, but to be honest I think it's the semi-regular online connectivity issues, as it only seems to happen when swapping between friends lists and messages/chat etc.

Hopefully it will start to improve after the holidays.

I will be the judge of that later when i set up this Xbox One without the game that was suppose to have shipped with it

Will be phoning them tomorrow and asking them to send out what they should have,other than that there service to me is exceptional and has been for ages.

Not me mate, I've got three ankle weights. If I were single (which I likely very soon would be if I turned up home with another console ) then maybe, but I would still have to learn to love their controller and that's extremely unlikely.

But you're right, I am peeved that I can't play TitanFall.

in my view the dash isnt sony's strongpoint.

the xbox360 has a fluid and fast dash, buying content automatically downloads and installs itself and it knows if its already installed.

the ps3 has a very laggy psn store, its a messy process to download purchased content and then after it is downloaded it still needs to be manually installed, on power up is a choice of either going to the whats new page or to the game inserted, both of which do not show the theme which is annoying, the daylight saving is currently bugged as well, I have had to disable daylight saving on my ps3 to get the right time, they have the setting reversed. Plus its much harder to navigate files on the hdd on the ps3, the dash seems a mess by comparison.

I dont have ps4/xbox1 but I would be surprised if sony's dash beats the xbox1.

Playstation 4 dash is nothing like the horrible mess associated with the Playstation 3 store and downloads and installs in minutes.

I hate the playstation 3 process of downloading and installing games and waiting ages for it to do so,there is a vast improvement on the playstation 4 store with installs,downloads,interface you name it.

Don't know what Nelly is going on about as i have not encountered any lag while using the interface on the Playstation 4 store and find it really fluid and a joy.

When i eventually get around to connecting this Xbox One i will make a honest opinion at what is better regarding downloads and installs.

I know one thing and that is you don't have to wait up to 30 minutes to play initially installed games like Ryse which many are complaining about,Killzone started to install and i could start playing that in under a minute.

Xbox One V P4 Install times.

The playstation 4 is super fast and its the best thing about owning a Playstation 4 and given its a paid service now it was expected and Sony could no way revert to a mess that is the Playstation 3 store.

I noticed the daylight saving thing and thought it was backwards too.

The store is incredibly quick and works beautifully as Timey says. It's not really any different to the "new" PS3 store, except if automatically adds and starts downloading purchases. What you see that works horribly on the PS3 store, actually runs beautifully on the PS4 store.

My point exactly Nelly and to give a side by side comparison then you going to have to hook up both consoles and Timey will be doing that by the weekend for sure.

I will admit that the xbox 360 v Playstation 3 in the past was a no brainer and the 360 anyalates everything when it came to store,downloads,installs ,deleting content compared to the playstation 3 which like we say is one tedious boring mess of a process and i doubt now that Sony will ever put it right given there investment in the Playstation 4.

Don't know what Nelly is going on about as i have not encountered any lag while using the interface on the Playstation 4 store and find it really fluid and a joy.

No, the store has worked fine. My point was I suspect it to be the network itself, not the console. Moving between chat > messages > invitations etc. was slow with the refresh circle rotating away. Only for 5 seconds or so, but normally it is, as you say, instant.

The store and downloads etc. haven't been affected at all.

yeah network i got ya i noticed when i message you throughout he app i have on my phone and iPad it takes a lot longer than usual but thats the only issue i have and its no big deal

Yeah. I blamed my iPhone for that. Like this forum, it doesn't seem to like the software as much as it ought to.
