psn - stupid download system?

on the xbox360 if I purchase something it is easy to put in the download queue, in fact its often automatic.
the xbox360 also knows if something is already downloaded.

I just brought some stuff on my ps3 of psn, with all the inclusive dlc's it amounts to over 60 items.

it seems the ps3 is now expecting to me to download all of these 60+ items manually. also in the transaction section it lists all existing content I have brought as available to download when its already downloaded.

am I missing something here? or is this a major fail on the psn store design?
