Finally some time spent on Battlefield 4 on Playstation 4.

[link to this post]

First time since owning it i actually spent about 60 minutes on it last night and it was awesome and ran as smooth as silk, problem is I'm generally rubbish have no weapons of substance don't fully understand all the button configuration and options but wow what a ride it was.

Im going to really get into this game over the coming months and i openly admit this slaughters Cod Games in general especially this Battlefield 4.

Not sure how you actually acquire new weapons ,I'm guessing by doing some of the capture stuff and killing people,at present I'm on Rank 1 with only the basics equipment from each class.

Most fire fights i get totally owned even though I'm the one that shoots at them first blush

Weapon unlocks are different in BF4 to past versions as you start with the basic set of guns but you need to get kills with each weapon class to unlock the next weapon in the class.

The netcode and hit detection is pretty awful in BF4 but its what Dice have gone with again to appeal to the public, weapons with a higher rate of fire will win alot of 1v1's etc.

Yes and no, the game is alot more forgiving to new players as a few rounds of tdm and you will be able to unlock a few weapons, do use the xp boosts as they will quicken your ranking and unlocks.

XP Boosts usually happen over a weekend period. They will let you know when they happen on the battlefeed

The good thing is you can unlock the good stuff by just scoring as opposed to getting kills matey.
You should have some xp boosts that would have came along with your premium purchase i think!!

If it is still as hard to get a hit to register (let alone a kill) as it was when we played together, you are [censored] in the wind unlock wise.

The 200XP weekends do still happen but they are largely irrelevant as with the 25/50/100/200 xp boosts for a hour of gameplay you can easily have one on all the time.

So unlocking weapons is not to hard at all, some weapons do need attachments to improve them as ironsights are not that brilliant.

Yeah. Like ccxo says, you need to explore the weapons customisations page once you've unlocked a scope or two. Ironsights aren't all that helpful unless you're close.

Also, you are right about being at a disadvantage by starting relatively late, or at least to all the hardcore players but there are loads of ways of scoring as Swanny says that doesn't necessarily involve killing someone directly (depends on game mode tho).

I tend to play standard Conquest modes and avoid Rush type games though I quite enjoyed them in the past from time to time. You've really gotta learn those maps before going into those game modes in my experience.

Plus, try to keep in with your squad: stay with the other squad members even if it means letting them go round corners first so they take the immediate hit from enemy fire. Sounds mean but it's a better way to play if you're new so you can play with more caution and learn more easily. It pays to take a step back initially.

If you do the team work, dropping health packs, seeding mines and capture objectives it is easy enough to be top dog with a terrible kill/death ratio.

Don't tell me that. Tell him that! wink

I haven't played BF4 for a few weeks now. Been busy with GTA5 on the PS3 since coming into an inheritance! Something I never thought I'd say actually.

I thank the games industry for console upgrade cycles. May the next one happen sooner. tongue
