You know the ones. Nelly, Spooky and the other chap, forget his name but he always had a lot to say for his self
All three seem to have disappeared from our forum. Maybe they've joined a secret cult or something???? :/

I doubt that very much , its not easy joining/rejoining the PC master race once you have owned a console .
I know , 2 days sorting a driver issue out , so i could enjoy the games i brought in the steam sale . thanks to Windows update and not having a very obvious set up ( laptop with A10 APU and graphics card in Crossfire )

Windows Update messing things up again, eh ?

microsoft are making the right moves on the gaming side no doubt about it so far, xbox one weaker hardware but better announced software.
sony also lost exclusivity to kingdom hearts as well, final fantasy will also be on xbox one.
currently ps3 has better exclusives coming than ps4 many exclusive rpg's still coming for it.
talking of pc, I brought ff7 on psn for nostalgia reasons, and wow. FF7 on the PC vs PS1 is like chalk and cheese, yet many considered the ps1 version superior, and my modded pc version (custom graphics, hd res, hardened mechanics etc.) of course is vastly superior but even the bare bones pc version was noticebly better.

i was playing the Xbox 360 version of World of Tanks till i got my entry level gaming laptop and they finished the beta and priced gold at the same price as the PC version .
Took all of 1 second to make that decision , im finding my self in a much better place having no allegiance to any platform and enjoy having my cake and eating it .
I have genuinely enjoyed my return to PC gaming , apart from Windows 8 , what the hell was Microsoft thinking of , and why O why did they use the same team to develop the Xbone dashboard and party system .
I assume its the same team as how could you mess up something that worked so well with something that's so broken aka Windows 8 and the Xbone party system .

Windows 8 is horrible, my GF has it on her laptop, what a mess Yuk!!
Windows is a mess not her
|
|
|
of course you dont have to use windows 8, I am baffled when people dont like windows 8 but still use it, windows 7 is a still maintained operating system,
But yeah owning all the platforms has its merits, no allegiance here to any platform.

Yeah was also wondering where they had got to..so quiet on here lately

Spook-Tooth hasn't been on his PS3 for 11 days either
Maybe they've eloped ??

Dunno about the other two but I've been busy with Bioshock Infinite on the PC, the superior gaming system.
I'm using Windows 7 too as I agree, Windows 8 is just nasty. I bought the Windows 8 upgrade when MS were selling it cheap but never got around to installing it. Too afraid to. I hear Windows 9 might be released in the not too distant future so might be best to skip it?
One of the problems with the ideal of retro-fitting Windows is the cost of legitimate retail copies and the hassle of using OEMs and having to re-activate the license everytime you change hardware configuration and clean install. Proper pain that is. I'm fortunate to have retail Win 7 and strangely haven't performed a fresh install for years whereby I used to clean install all the time on XP. That's largely down to the type of hardware I've upgraded and the fact hardware requirements haven't come on much since around 2007 I'd say. I'm using SSDs so that might also play a role. Biggest difference is I'm no longer overclocking and tweaking things I guess.
Since I deleted my game saves on PS3 I've been reluctant to go back in to GTA V plus the evidence is strongly suggestive that GTA V is coming to the PC in late April this year (Amazon.de). It'll probably get delayed though and no doubt it'll launch with loads of bugs like GTA 4. So that's why I've been quiet on the PS as I've got to start all over again and I've gone back on the PC but I'll be revisiting the PS3 soon.
A little rant to explain my gaming apathy: In some ways I am not that impressed with game graphics these days. I think they've hardly come on since Crysis was originally launched on PC way back in late 2007. Rather like the world economy, it seems the graphics industry has been in something of a recession as we're no further along now than we were then in absolute terms it feels to me. Where's the photo-realism at eh? We see lovely looking trailers like the new Elder Scrolls Online animations but the actual gameplay graphics look barely improved from Oblivion (March 2006). I know tech progress in games has included things like improved physics and destructible objects and terrain as well as optical effects like blur, dof, and other lighting effects but how about some improved textures? I'm fed up with playing cartoons.
Come on Bethesda you can do better than nice glossy marketing trailers. And they want people to pay £8 a month too? Must be mad.

Great return and i totally agree . using the excuse of the last gen console holding things back has gone .
being honest intell have not exactly been breaking boundaries at the moment not that much in it from a i5 2500k and a i5 4670k . its been incremental increases the i5 2500 still works just fine .
And AMD are still using the same socket and chipset that still does not have the new PCIE 3.0
And as for AMD and Nvidia rebranding old products to look like new ones , just about proves it .

Let us be the judge of that, for you need to post some piccies of her

Forget about single player there are some great missions online in GTA

Haha check out project voyeur

Noooooo! As good as GTA Online may be (still not played any more =/ ) the single player is also excellent and one of the best games of the generation and so is a must play

Well we should see some big leaps forward in graphics before long now that the new generation of consoles have launched. Developers have achieved amazing things with games like GTA V on old hardware so just think what they will be able to do with the new gen.
How about giving TLOU a go on the PS3 next ?

I agree SP is excellent but playing missions with friends is even better
I need to restart my SP from 23% (deleted all the other saves) as I got the bug on one mission where you can't select Micheal again

Yeah, it is surprising the lack of true innovation in hardware in desktop computing it seems. Maybe everyone is too hung up on mobile devices these days?
My mobo and cpu are aging. Since Intel launched the dual core range of processors I haven't even looked at AMD and that's a shame as I just can't get my head round it all anymore. I used to love my old Barton core AMD CPU too.
My current CPU is a quad core Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz according to Speccy (as I'd forgotten exactly what it was). And my mobo is ASUS P6TD DELUXE (socket LGA1366) which is meant to be good for overclocking tho there's so many options it really is mind-boggling and I haven't attempted to adjust voltages which probably explains why I'm still using it today!
I've had 6 gigs of triple channel DDR3 ram for quite a while too and the only major performance update carried out is the graphics card, a Nvidia GTX 770, which is, as you say, pretty much a rebranded 6 series card. I'm getting a consistent frame limited 60FPS in Bioshock with all the goodies on ultra and it would be nice to test this setup a bit more.
Yeah, I think you've got something about semicondutor companies re-branding things - they're reusing their former tech and really penny pinching it seems. Of course AMD had been hemorrhaging cash before and I have no idea how they're doing today but hopefully they'll remain healthy and we'll continue to have some limited competition in the computer chip industry. We could use a new market entrant to really shake things up - massive power cheaper price. Looking at the camera market as an example, it's easy to see how the big companies get complacent and have very conservative roadmaps outlined for slowly introducing new tech whereby some smaller companies have given much more much sooner: I'm thinking of Blackmagic vs Canon/Nikon here really. We need these massive companies to get wake up calls more often so they then sit up and give consumers a better deal today.
Anyway, cheers. Back to 'gaming'.

So I've heard. You should post some vids of your antics up to Youtube. I'm still a little nervous about going online in GTA. Reckon I will be bullied mercilessly.

Too true. I will definitely be giving TLOU a go and soon. I've got a copy now that the vendor said was part of a bundle deal but exactly the same product you'd get normally. Haven't noticed anything unusual about the packaging though I haven't opened it yet.
Busy playing the latest Bioshock at the minute. It's a good enough game but it feels very predictable in its pacing: too much emphasis on rummaging around looking for cash and health items and then going into a new environment and triggering the next multiple NPC fight. Then it's quiet again so you go and grab your snacks and cash and ammo for the next time. The formula worked ok for the first game but now it's getting tedious.
I hope they really push the envelope (weird expression) when it comes to developing better graphics for the latest games. I'm sure the likes of Watch Dogs and The Division will set new heights but I still feel we should be further on than this. I just want to be wowed more I suppose.
When was the last time you saw something in a game and went 'wow'? I think it was seeing the trailers for ESO for me but I've now seen a fair bit of in-game footage and feel cheated in many respects. You can tell you're playing a game with restrictive textures and unrealistic animation and everything. It doesn't look good though the overall game mechanics might still make it enjoyable. I'm not convinced though and don't like the way games are headed. Online = more control, more ways to make money out of gamers. It would be nice to see some honesty in the games industry when it comes down to pricing games and their profits.

They can't bully you in the missions or races. Only freemode but then you can just [censored] off to another area like I do.
Or we could just join a closed server. You me and Blue

The graphics in ESO are stunning. I would show you some screenshots but I'm not allowed to.

Ah, come on now. Don't let a little NDA get in the way.
Actually, I've spent more time on Youtube searching for ESO stuff. Whilst there are certainly good graphics and detailed textures to be had I'm thinking a lot of the gameplay stuff (fighting) looks a bit ropey. I don't doubt it'll be a good game by general standards set by games out today but I still feel games should be aiming for higher graphical fidelity but I shall await more footage and possibly an open beta.
Sounds like you're enjoying it anyway. Gameplay wise it looks to have all the good ingredients of single player ES titles which has to be an accomplishment in itself.
