Astro A50 Wireless headset

Yep I mentioned it in a few posts already so apologies to Jaxx who obviously misses me

Anyway been looking around at all this Headset Malarcy and the fact half of them don't work,when they do they don't have chat enabled facility unless you buy a cable or half a dozen other reasons,like waiting for either Sony or Microsoft to start supporting the current ones like my Turtke Beach PX5 that's about as much use as a Ashtray on Swanny motorbike .

Anyway it would have been the Sony Gold Wireless headset that Sony stated would release on the 10th feb only to find that not one single uk retailer had them or new anything about them

Within a few days they appeared on Amazin through various sellers ,only to find these had to be imported from Canada.

Anyway after watching IGN review of them I decided I'm not bothering 6 /10 don't cut it with me even though the price point of £79.99 was very appealing .

So after a few weeks research and waiting and waiting and hoping that they would release firmware for Bluetooth support all we get is a firmware update for Sony new Gold and Pulse headsets .

Anyway to cut along story short......

Yes I agree the price is a joke and they are basically £100 more than any headset I have bought in the past but these are suppose to be the Dogs Dangles

Looks like they work with the PC too so that's handy for when you upgrade your system.

I had to laugh last night with playing Titanfall with Jorkila and his son as i said sorry i haven't picked up my Astro headset yet so won't be able to get involved with the invite in the chat party system during the game.

Jorkila said well haven't you got the headset that came with the Xbox One,to which i replied no i binned that piece of junk the minute i opened the box .

For me a Gaming headset is essential,especially the type of FPS that i play and the volume on the television sound system will be keeping here indoors awake all night.

But i understand that a decent Gaming headset don't come cheap and other people have different priorities and better things to spend there dosh on,i mean after all all previous headsets should have worked with the new consoles and that my friends is a injustice .

Nano Nano

So i got these new Astro A50 and the sound is amazing when set up with the Playstation 4,however i have just discovered the chat function does not work on a Xbox One until Microsoft release the Xbox One Chat Adapter coming early march.

The mind truly boggles why this is and its obviously just a money making scam of the highest order,why they just didn't have a 3.5m audio jack input on the controller is anyones guess.

They have to come out with stuff that requires other bits and bobs to get the functions working.

So this better release before Titanfall and it looks like another £24.99 for a plastic adapter for chat function.

Everything apparently works on the playstation 4 after i undated the Astro Firmware but i have not tested the chat function.

Just as well the 'chat function' comes free and fitted as standard with us humans then. Can you imagine if corporations were in charge we'd have to pay extra for the likes of a mouth and ears. Yeah, you can't beat good old 3.5mm wires. Tried and tested and not too much that can go wrong with them.

Yeah - not sure about the whole wireless idea. Don't think it'll take off meself.

Only problem with wires is tangling. Now why do wires and long things in general tangle so easily? It's as if there is some universal rule of attraction that wires and string and things like this all must tangle - it's easier to tangle than remain disentangled? I think a physicist like Prof Brian Cox should look into my entanglement theory as it surely is the missing piece of the Grand Unified Theory thing. We'll claim the nobel together if you're reading, Brian?

Not sure if your a playstation 4 or Xbox One owner or neither,but if you have a Xbox One and plan on getting Titanfall in 3 weeks then come join me and Jorkila and his son for some fps action.

Nothing wrong worth wireless headsets if your prepared to invest the money,never had a problem and my turtle beach PX5 Sounded drop dead gorgeous and these Astro even better.

So the chat adapter is available 14th March which I have now pre/ ordered

Still got neither and when I do it will be the PS4...thanks for the offer though

Wise choice to be honest apart from Titanfall exclusivity ,as that's the only current reason I bought a Xbox One.

Yeah I am not in any hurry to be honest, going to wait until there is a must have game and one that is truly next gen and will blow me away.

On subject of the PS4, GameStop have it for £330, out of stock though. Really didn't expect any price drops from retailers this soon especially considering how they are always selling out.

Could be a sign that some interesting bundles will be on the way later in the year..

Not for me, I played a fair bit of Infamous 2 and thought it was amazing to begin with, the open world and jumping around as a super hero was fun but it soon became very repetitive and I lost interest. Second Son could well be great but I don't really want to play it without having completed the previous games in the franchise.

I believe so. Can't remember ever buying anything from them before. Anyway here is the PS4 deal if anyone interested and if it comes back in stock.

When the time comes for me to get one I will go for John Lewis if they are competitively priced as they provide a 2 year warranty.

Wouldn't actually call it next generation Nell,it looks nice by all accounts but I'm sure there will be plenty of games released this year that will blow it out of the water .

As current games go then it's one of the best looking....no doubts

Agreed it does look very nice but not one I really want.... then again I wasn't bothered about getting GTA V and yet I absolutely loved it...

I meant visually to be fair. A lot of people knocked how it plays, but they likely have agendas relating to franchise allegiance, but it seriously is an amazing visual treat, even if the formula doesn't scream next gen. Digital Foundary confirmed that there was some serious graphical [censored] going on under the bonnet.

If it's not truly next gen then we really are in for a spectacular treat when developers really start to click.

I just hooked this up to a Xbox One and boy oh boy what a amazing sound this Astro A50 gives,the joke is digital 5.1 or surround sound is not supported on the xbox one at present��..Go Figure and you can only stick it opn Stereo in the settings.

So if it sounds this good in Stereo what would it sound like in Dolby Digital 7.1.

All i need now is my copy of Titanfall and my chat headset adapter and I'm sorted .
