play.com and credit cards

[link to this post]

Seems I found another retailer that have paranoid checks in place.

play.com credit card declined, they cant provide reason because they feel its too risky.

I contacted credit card company who said they will contact play.com on my behalf. So now waiting.

Sadly what I am buying seems only available on play.com some sellers seem to only use that site.

No its the mind of the married man, old tv show from the 90s.

Credit card company have also been blanked out by play.com, but I have been told by my credit card company they did not decline it, the retailer must have declined and obviously play.com gave me a misleading automated message stating the credit card declined it, incidently we talking about a £4 transaction here, not something like thousands of pounds. So the answer is play.com have extra unique checks in place which they are not willing to disclose out of paranoia.

Meanwhile the ebay order got delivered today no hassle.

Can not say I have heard of that one mate, saying that I'm not into many TV series if I'm honest...

Used to love the old 60s The Invaders and bought that series on DVD ,watched a few but then thought these don't half look dated and gave up.

I've not bothered with 24, game of thrones and all the other stuff on Sky 1 and Sky Atlantic, tell a lie I watched and downloaded all the Mad Dogs....that was cool.

That is strange, have not encountered anything like that before. Seems stupid they wouldn't even tell the card company.

I wonder of they use the same secret checks as playasia and some other weird sites.

I brought a psn card to use on .us psn store some months back, the first site I used was rejecting my orders for 'unknown' reasons, even paypal payments were rejected. (I have never ever had a paypal payment blocked for security before that). The site said they couldnt tell me what the issue was as they didnt trust me and just kept saying make sure details are correct which they were. I was buying a $10 card.

Then playasia, same thing, made payment, was about 11pm, then got told to wait for a callback for a security check (wooooh), about 3am, gave up waiting and went bed, when I woke up it was approved and I passed this so called security check (no calls were made to me).

Now of course play.com.

All 3 sites seem to have the following in common, low value transactions, and sell alot of gaming stuff. I am assuming payment fraud is rife in gaming and they have some very severe paranoia on payments.

You're a fan of GOT too then? Yeah, I'm loving it and can't wait for the next season to get started in April. Read the books (all 4 thousand odd pages!) and GRRM needs a kick up the backside to get the last two SOIF books done.

Walking Dead was good but I didn't like Season 4 very much. Seemed to lose its way. I actually liked the first season when it was all fresh. My mate is into the original WD graphic novels so he knows what's coming next.

Actually, one thing in common between both series is the prevalence of British actors. Something we can be proud of I think. (Makes a change!)

I disagree, series 2 of Walking Dead was the worst by far! Series 1 was brilliant, series 3 was the best and series 4 so far has been pretty poor. Series 1 was short and sweet, series 2 was dragged out massively! There have been 2 standout episodes and the third to last and second to last have been good. I await the final this evening smile

I think it's getting a bit old hat now though, they need to shake it up soon. Out of the dozen or so people that watched it in my office there is only me and 2 others left now and I have seen similar comments on Facebook & Twitter.

Still not watched GOT, well I watched the first 2 episodes and thought it was pretty good but never got around to watching anymore!

Give GOT a go, it's a really good series to get into and you've got lots of lovely stuff to catch up on.

Yes I agree season 2 of TWD was the weakest, it was slow going and nothing much happened. Season 3 was the best, 1 was good from what I can remember. I have also been enjoying season 4 but the second half of the series has been a bit annoying as they only show one group of people every episode. Still good though and at the end of each episode I cant wait to see the next. smile

Yep I love GOT. Khaleesi Queen of Dragons for the win tongue

Have not read any of the books and have no idea what happens. Generally I do not like fantasy shows set in the past but this is an exception. smile

I downloaded 2 episodes from Sky Anytime which took about 2 hours as they have all the episodes on there, but waiting 2 hours for 2 episodes of the HD variety and the extreme slow downloads which is not my connection i gave up and deleted them without even bothering to watch them.

To be honest i did follow them when they were first aired and got bored extremely quick with them anyway, but a lot of people rave about the series so i thought i would give them another try but sadly with the poor download speeds and the fact there is about 60 episodes to download i gave up.
