Battlefield 4

[link to this post]

Just revisited BF4 because someone on another forum had said that the rubber banding had all but gone since the new servers, and hey what do you know, they were right!!
So if anyone was giving it a miss because of this, now is the time to jump back on board!!
If you have a few mates to play along with this is truly a great game!!

Why would we want to go back to this mate with Watch around the corner, anyway explain the term rubber banding as in Battlefield.......not with you on that one .

I still have the game, think I have spent about 30 minutes on the multiplayer, that's how exciting and interesting I thought it was at the time.

I actually enjoyed the single player way more.

Played (wasted) a couple of hours on the multiplayer, spent thirty minutes on the single player. Should have traded it straight away but I couldn't be arsed to trapse up to Game.

Like most shooters, the online connectivity is biased [censored]. At least COD always gives a decent co op experience, that you can manipulate by staying away from your co op partners immediate location, but the [censored] code is still (purposely) there.

Online sucks and only succeeds in making no marks think they are sharpshooters.

Had loads of it on GTAV one week. Server overload I suspect, but it's proper weird when trying to get a car round a corner!

I love Battlefield, played 1942, BC2 and BF3 loads but think I will give this one a miss and wait for BF5. Hopefully that will be truly next gen.

I hate the game but can still vouch that the graphics are excellent. Swanny's getting confused. He thought he was watching COD Ghosts, but it was in fact his mates fish tank.

The fish AI was amazing mind you. smile

Yes indeed its playing a lot better , this and Forza are the only games i really play on my Xbone and the online has improved but it's hopefully going to improve even more if they implement the changes that they are running on the test server .

The servers only update 10 times a second , on the test servers they have been testing 30 times a second and reports suggest it feels way more snappy and responsive , and all that getting shot round corners and instant deaths has been improved greatly .

Its the one game that truly tests my R9 290X on my PC , shame i have never had the bottle to enter multi player on the PC but my addiction to my control pad would be a real disadvantage .

It is much more improved and without the lag can enjoy the effects much more now.

Yup, since the apparent server upgrades I've only ever had rubber banding once, you still get the guy who can soak up all your bullets and not die, dieing around a corner, or an instant death but most of that is down to the tick rate which as someone has pointed out has been upped to updating 30 times a second instead of 10 on PC testers and has vastly cut down the above happening, hopefully this will end up being updated on the consoles as well, seems crazy it was that low to begin with and a lot of people (myself included) said right at the beginning when the above happening was noticed that the this was a big issue with the game and raising it would make a big difference and it does seem to be.
This along with Forza and Fifa are the games I go back to.

If this happened on console I would stick the disc back in and have another crack at the MP.

I.ve been playing it on my Xbox One but at weekends all the bullet sponges seem to be out and about and in my crosshairs , so i rage quit last night and also hope this update makes it to console , so this game is not just a weekday experience for me .

It's the best kept secret in the gaming world. The developers are fully aware it's happening but won't acknowledge it as long as the average player keeps buying the games, and that average player doesn't get the problems.

It's shows itself in FPS titles but I've had it in racers from time to time. I've actually been beaten over the line by a car behind me quite obviously a full length behind me. No sense.

That's why I'm happier playing online co-op now.

its totaly time that those with bad internet have a bad time online , not the other way round where people have to port throttle or run through a proxy/VPN so not to be punished for having good internet .

to much effort has been put into making online a level playing field for all , and the only way to do that was to punish those with good connections .

Its time to bring back ping bars and show each player latency in lobbies and to be able to vote out those with bad internet , set minimum pings to play on servers and the like .

Lets turn the tables and punish those that have bad connections and reward those with good connections , you know , how it use to be , when turning off interleaving was good for online gaming when having a good ping was all that mattered to online gamers .

Re'empower those of us who have invested in a good quality connection and our countries have invested in our internet infrastructure , Lets take back the internet from those that would buy the cheapest of the cheap , that live in countries that won't invest in their infrastructure .

Yeah i should shut up about now as i look at my TalkTalk bill

Lol!

You're right though mate. We are capable of making our own matchmaking decisions. COD had mercenary mode lobbies to prevent people inviting their friends in on bad connections. But even those lobbies had far too wide ping ranges.

There are an awful lot of people in the UK with fast fibre connections, why cant I choose UK/10ms/Kill Confirmed?

So what if it takes 15 minutes to find a game, that's my prerogative, no?
