I remember being very quiet and not banging the floor when the game was loading in the C64 tape deck laugh

Indeed.

It did take me around a year before I managed to clear the first stage - the end of level soldiers were a real pain, until I figured out where to stand for relative safety.

Just wish Turbo Charge would run in the emulator - then Timey would know what real driving is...
