Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 750Ti 2GB PCI-E £110
http://rcm-eu.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc...
Good choice for a dual CPU 3GHz Xeon Windows 7 64 bit with 8GB ram PC?
Steam store and the range of games are calling and is birthday in July so might be my present for myself. Current card is an old FireGL v7600 which alas does not work with DirectX 10 which the better games need.
Budget is £100

In depth review here mate.
I'm well and truly out of the loop these days mate seeing as my gaming is split between console and my iMac!!
Also worth a look here mate for possibly some other options!!

You are going to need a fair bit of space above the graphics slot there
Dont forget AMD do some good graphics cards too!
I would add an extra £10 to your budget and go for the AMD Radeon 265. It edges out the 750i in most games at 1080p

sorry for the long link
Or for not too much more either one of these Dabs or Ebuyer
Not quite as powerful as the one in my Playstation 4 though
Manages a double card already, just an old lower spec beast

If he goes for an AMD one, then it will be

Ah good!
Get two the same and you'll soon outstrip a PS4, and get Timey all worried...
I would go for AMD ones though - they seem to be more reasonably priced too...

I would say AMD give more bang for your buck at the moment , for that price R7 265 is a better option .
But things change week by week , with special offers price reductions , so start watching them prices and reading up on the cards in your price range .
AMD are working hard on Linux drivers as they want a Steam machine , Nvidia are better at Linux drivers , full stop end of sentence .
Ebuyer had a R9 270 for £109 with free postage , a week back , so watch and pounce when you see that bargain .

it will run modern games, but how well will it run them?
pixel count aka resolution is a performance killer so what resolution (monitor spec neede) will you play at.
I suspect there will be down tuning of graphics details but as long as thats ok then card should be fine.

Have upped my aim to the AMD R7/R9 cards, they seem to offer a larger boost for not much more money.
Be nice to run at 1920x1080p and have some spare oomph for a couple of years.
Extra disk space is the easier upgrade, so now watching out for the price dips and offers.

Yeah don't go for the second mortgage bundle like Toady's for petes sake
Well i'm running a fairly old card AMD HD6950 and i can run most if not all games with high/ultra settings @ 1920x1080
so the R9 270 is comparable to that about 10% quicker than mine for sure.

And how many did you get to buy your console ?
How many what ?
And how many did you get to buy your console ?
That sentence makes no sense to me by the way ?

You will have to excuse us that PC game , if we start talking gibberish , as the anticipation of the steam summer sale has that affect .
yes AMD is more performance for the pound.
Nvidia usually has the top spot for the ultimate cards and there seems to be some percieved higher quality about them hence their usual higher prices, but there is many happy amd gamers out there.

What summer sale ? The only time Valve decide to reduce anything beyond a nominal amount is at Christmas...
Perhaps try reading it again then ?

Im going to be devils advocate and return to your first choice 750Ti , the one very obvious advantage this card has over like priced AMD cards , is it power usage , as in it does not need a PCEI connector and uses so little power it can run of the PCIE slot .
I have no idea if this is a issue for you but please keep this in mind whilst choosing your video card upgrade

I feel almost embarrassed to have to tell you " the one that happens at the end of june " .
If you don't believe me Google it .

One item reduced by 1p does not a sale make...
Existing card uses one and there is another lurking in the case.

Being deliberately subversive wont help your course when said sale does start , if it is one item reduced by 1p , i will yield to your subversion .
Though I am very confident , if its called the " steam summer sale " thats exactly what it will be .

Have ordered a wee beast and hopefully will report on how it is on Monday night if delivery firm behave.
Will say which card once I have some stats

It would all depend on which course I steer...
Well it arrived and has been installed and World of Tanks is running smoothly at maximum settings and Battlefield3 is running very sweetly at max settings on 1920x1080
Got it for £130 as an Amazon B-grade, only downside was no driver CD
Have not heard a peep from the fans yet, case fans are noiser (Dell Inspirion 690 - a 25kg monster)
Hopefully get a couple of years use from it

Certainly should!

That ticks all the right boxes and a good price to boot .
personally i would rather buy a Nintendo Wii U. Oh i already have
you and me both, I would only buy a wii-u for a exclusive game that you want to play enough that its worth the outlay to get the console.
