I haven't logged on for ages and requested a password reset. The email came through and I have given all the data asked for. When I click submit to reset it I get a message saying that an error occurred during this Transaction. I'm keen to get it working as I got Watchdogs at the weekend and haven't been able to play yet!!
Any ideas?

Why would it be a transaction when all you are trying to do is reset your password and login, been on psn this afternoon and all connects fine.
Don't know what to suggest apart from running the internet connection test and seeing if your are connecting and stuff like that ?

Can Watchdogs be played offline??

Register (or login) on our website and you will not see this ad.

I got the wording slightly wrong
"An error occurred while performing this operation"

Sounds like a PSN problem and not yours,so you got the same email address as login and have changed your password but it won't connect,is that correct or am I missing something,I'm guessing you have let your Playstation plus expire,or you don't use that, and are we talking Playstation 3 or 4

It must be a wide scale issue as I set up a new Hotmail account and liked it to a new PSN account. I tried a password reset and got exactly the same error.

TBH I probably would of gone back to PS myself with the PS4 but the controller is so bad it's unreal, although it's better than the shocking PS3 controller it's still not a patch on the xbox controllers.
whoever designed those triggers on the ps4 needs to be shot, burnt and then be fed to a big cat.

Funny i don't have a issue with either the Duel Shock 3 or 4 I guess its personal preference .

PS4 controller ( DS4 ) is a massive improvement over the terrible DS3 that gave me hand cramps after about an hour .
All thats better on the Xbone controller is the D-Pad , i'm not convinced the rest of the controller is an improvement over the 360 controller , which is still the best controller IMHO

Anyway, back on topic!!
I had sent an email to PSN support and today received a response.
"Thank you for contacting Sony Entertainment Network. We are sorry to learn that you are experiencing difficulties with the password reset.
I can confirm that we are aware of the issue and our engineers are working to resolve it as soon as possible. "
So it looks like a bigger problem.

The Xbox One controller is a big improvement over the 360 I think. When I go back and play on my 360 now it feels a lot different. The triggers on the Xbox One are probably my favourite thing about it, the cushions they have put under them feel so good
It's also a lot more lightweight than the Xbox 360 one.

to me the layout of the ps3(4) is bad.
its logical that the analogue stick is aligned with the buttons on the right. So to me a ps3 controller feels lopsided.
On my ps3 I use a controller that has the xbox360 layout, with the left dpad below the analogue stick.
Also the ps3 controller that came with my ps3 feels too small and light, feels a cheap build.
I agree tho that the sony controllers have best dpad's.

It was a compromise in the days of d-pad and button bashing, which is fine if you get used to it, but compromise it is. It's obvious. No argument. Your preference has nothing to do with the ergonomics of the sony controller. The 360 had better triggers in the past and better handles, but the DS4 has addressed those issues. The Xbox One's may well be more responsive, better sized, whatever.
But logical is the very last thing it can be labelled, because it isn't.......full stop.
Just like you bellends that don't invert your look/ camera control. There's a century of aviation technology that proves your talking out of your [censored]. It wasn't an accident.
Preference is cool. Pretending it's anything other than that is plain daft.

very few games I play make use of the dpad, so 95% of the time my left thumb is on the left analogue stick, I expect that to be level with my right thumb which is using the buttons, its just how it is for me.

What sort of games do you play? I can't remember using only those controls since Gauntlet and Streets of Rage?
Everything seems to have twin sticks or control stick/camera stick nowadays.

Gotta be honest my personal preference has always been the xbox controller over the playstation just feels more substantial in my hands (ps controller is fine if you're only used to small things in the palm of your hand)
Never had an issue with the lop sided sticks on the xbox controller!!
Again it's all down to personal preference.

I play most genres except FPS and sports games.
Whilst many games the dpad does something, usually it just does the same as the left analogue stick, but not as good as its not a gradual response.
Lightning returns ironically does use it for exclusive functions but I think its the first game in at least 3 years or so I have played that uses it exclusively. The last one was fable 3.
Ok I lie, vesperia uses it for overlimits, but its not a regular function in the game, I might use an overlimit once an hour e.g. I last played vesperia about a year or so ago.
In all 3 games the dpad is a secondary control function not primary, the analogue stick is used for movement.

I've always preferred the d pad for driving games. Much more accurate at speed if you want to get right on the kerbs. I find it easier tapping them repeatedly than trying to get the sticks spot on at speed without wavering. Sticks are fine in fun driving games, but for F1 etc. I much prefer the d pad.

The password issue has now been sorted and I can now login to PSN and have started playing Watchdogs.
I got killed 10 times in the 1st 5 minutes by the cops at the start because I didn't know what I was doing! Eventually got past that and completed the first mission.
The controls are taking a bit of time to get used to but all in all seems a good game so far.
