To be honest i loved the co/op missions in the beta but literally hated the 4v4 mode on mars which to me was Halo all over,so I'm hoping this is not a Halo Clone and has plenty of co/op missions as first suggested and not as rumour has it not as much as was first expected, content is suppose to be way shorter than Bungie first stated .
But anyway my pre/order has just been despatched and it will be here for Tuesday no doubt if not possibly a day before but i very much doubt it given its a major release which tend to turn up on release day.
Reviews won't be out until the game which kind of sucks,so hopefully the hype lives up to the promise and we don't end up been duped once again like COD games in general.
Be interested to see what people think and what type of reviews it gets ?

Like you I loved the co-op missions in the beta (wasn't a major fan of the 4v4 but it was alright, it was just annoying when i played it i was level 4 or 5 and almost everyone else was 10+, probably didn't help that the 3 goes i had at it i finished top of my team and the rest of my team was in big minuses for K/D)
I'd hope the campaign/co-op stuff is fairly large like it always was with Halo, If it's short I will be annoyed.

We soon find out in the next few days or so matey
I just don't like the play style in Halo games when it's 4v4 ,or it could be me been to dam slow to react and end up totally frustrated....

We will indeed.
Did you notice if they were higher levels than you, what I've noticed in Destiny (unlike Halo) is that you can have better weapons than other people, the higher level guys were killing me really quickly and I wondered why, it turns out they had weapons that did much more damage.
I played on my mates account who was a level 10 and he had a weapon that just mowed people down, My weapons damage was something like 40 and his was 100+, With my weapon each time I had either a level K/D or very slightly in the positive, using his the K/D was 3+.
I'm guessing when it's released and everyone has it then you will just play people with around the same level as you and so pretty much the same amount of damage because if it's that far apart as what me and my friend had then the guys who rarely play would be at a major disadvantage.

no didn't stay in the map long enough

I've just been and preordered it from Game, will pick it up tomorrow lunchtime and probably book a day off later this week to play it properly as I am busy most evenings. They gave me £16 for Watchdogs, unfortunately it seems to have fallen in price a lot.
|
|
|
not a lot is it for a game not 6 months old.im not a great lover of Game and there low trade in prices and much preferred the bankrupted Blockbusters.
Problem is with games and games shops in general, they are few and far between and Game can virtually set whatever price they want as they have little to no trade in competition which in general is not a good thing for us gamers.
Playstation 4 and Xbox One games are generally around £10 higher than there previous console versions so what such rubbish low trade in prices, watchdogs should be £25 minimum and i bet you game sell that for virtually the full retail price give or take a few quid.
Actually on the few occasions i do visit Game it makes me laugh at there trade and retail prices, basically a trade in copy of a recent game is about £2 cheaper than a wrapped brand new one..Go Figure
|
|
|
Yea Go Figure man
|
|
|
|
Yea, especially on new games it will be like £49.99 new or £47.99 preowned lol what's the point?
Watchdogs new was actually only £32.99, so explains why such a low preowned price for it. Perhaps it wasn't as popular or was a popular trade item.

Anyway Destiny just Dropped, initial quick thoughts later
This better not disappoint me like the majority of stuff this last 12 months ..

to me looks like a halo clone, so disappointed when I seen is yet another FPS. Seems massively over hyped.
But I have only watched that 40min E3 game footage.

Well i have had a couple of hours this afternoon and even though i have gone through the same missions that were in the beta it looks truly epic and very well polished,so even though its just a brief insight into the game at present I'm well impressed .
Not saying i will think the same in a week or so but I'm hoping the boredom don't set in like the majority of games i purchase as this has massive potential .
Its early days and Bungie quote originally was it was a massive open online universe to explore, rumours are rife that its nowhere near what Bungie stated but only the next few days/weeks will we get a better understanding to how this game pans out and will it become more interesting as you progress or will the missions remain very much like every other game..Capture this, kill that.ect ect
|
|
|
So far I am extremely impressed but I have only played 3 missions on Earth and got to level 4. I love how polished it looks too, when you go into the main tower and look over the town it looks really impressive, it reminds me of the film Guardians of the Galaxy.
I really like the cross between RPG & FPS, it seems like a good balance between the two. I have chosen a Warlock as I usually like to play as Mages in RPG's. My only concern is how much I have to hide to regen my HP, 2 good hits on me and I am on red so I may also create a Warrior class. Saying that my melee skill is awesome and I have just unlocked Nova Bomb which is pretty amazing, so I may be ok once I unlock a few defensive buffs.
The menus all look lovely, the way you compare equipment is great and the maps looks like they are huge. I really like that they have "raids" on it, I notice on Earth there is a Level 8 VERY HARD map which you have to join people online to play, just like on WoW and Guild Wars. Really can't wait to get back on it, I have booked off all day Friday to crack on
|
|
|
Apparently the single player missions only last 8/10 hours max,and it's getting some really negative reviews.
At present I'm enjoying it and like you the menu and draw distance of the game are impressive, but I will say a few things,on occasions or certain areas of the map the graphics look absolutely gobsmacking good, then other areas look a little plain flat and boring .
This game cost 350 million bucks which is basically 3 Star war films ,game of the year ....I'm not sure and think that honour will either be Far Cry 4 or as expected Cod Advanced Warfighter.
I'm going to give it another 3/4 hours tonight ,I'm only level 5 and I'm enjoying the experience but for how long is anyone's guess.
I'm really addicted to The last of Us online and I can not see Destiny pulling me away from that awesome online tactical experience anytime soon.

is the visuals all that matters?
8 hours is indeed short for single player if thats how long it is.
|
|
|
To me visuals really matter, they make the game look realistic and appealing, not much point having a major graphical leap in next generation consoles and getting last generation visuals .
Destiny is not last generation visuals but on occasions throughout the universe it doesn't look as drop dead gorgeous as other areas of the universe.
I know you are not bothered about visuals Crysalis but I like games that look as realistic as possible which makes the game a far more immersive experience .

I do care about visuals to a point , but would have liked to have more comments from you about other aspects of the game.
But as you like realistic visuals I think the new silent hill game may interest you.

My next game is The evil Within, not graphically brilliant but it looks like a resident evil type of game.
The PT demo scarred the [censored] out of me and I never did finish it.
As for Destiny ....well it's way to early to review such a game that has not been out 24 hours,I have said I'm really pleased with it at present .
Having played it for a mere 3 hours there is little more to add to be honest and it would be totally unfair for me to pass judgement just yet.
Like I said I might be bored stiff in a weeks time ...

The company later clarified that the sum included marketing and other costs - but it meant the title was instantly hailed as the most expensive video game to date.
Commentators noted that Grand Theft Auto V had cost about about half the sum to make and promote.
But analyst Michael Pachter suggests Mr Kotick's figure is overstated.
"I think Activision put a number out there that is pretty meaningless," he told the BBC.
"The game cost around $180m to make, and its initial marketing budget will likely be $100m, so they will spend $280m before they sell the first copy.
"After that, 'costs' probably include the manufacturer's royalty and the setting up of a server farm and call centre infrastructure, as well as continuing development costs on downloadable content (DLC), etc.
"I think the number is way overblown, and too widely reported, and it was put out there so that people like you would ask people like me about it."

Most single player games seem to be around 8/10hrs long ish. I pre downloaded Destiny all ready to play it but I've been engrossed with Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls, love playing that co-op with a mate at the mo. We must of put 20hrs + into that game at the moment, So not got around to playing Destiny yet, Will prob give it a go at the weekend.

Purchased the launch edition via the hong kong ms store for a grand total of $390 HK dollars which equates to £30.93 and downlading as I type this!!!

Good lad Jork! I'm lvl 11 now done earth and most of the moon but happy to replay through if you want to hit it up this weekend. It's definitely a game best played with others, I did the first raid earlier on today and it was absolutely class! Really I pressed with the game so far, my only dismay is that there are alot of missions on one planet all in the same place so you replay areas alot. Other than that it's a brilliant cross of fps and rpg !

currently 130 hours in lightning returns
94 hours in ffX hd remake

So with a little more time with the game my conclusion is simple, not the great game we were all expecting and very limited to what you do and achieve ,all the missions are virtually go there do that, kill this and kill that .
No way on earth this will get game of the year and as soon as the likes of Far Cry 4 turns up it will be quickly forgotten if it hasn't already.
As for the reviews, well they haven't exactly been mind blowing or over positive with Gamespot giving it a 6/10 followed by many more average reviews with the odd exception .
Don't get me wrong the mechanics, music, and feel of the game are very well done and the collision detection and movement are spot on,but I'm afraid it doesn't say to me ...come on put me on and play me some more.
In fact I spent all Friday Evening watching the first series of The Walking Dead after so many people telling me I should give it a try....
I new when I first started watching the intro to the first episode this was a quality production,I mean Gale Anne Hurd producer,James Cameron other half and then when you see the director credits we have Frank Darabont who made 2 of the greatest films of all time...The Green Mile and Shawshank Redeption .....say no more......
Fantastic program ....love it

Just finished the moon missions, other than the free play ones and I've gotta say I'm impressed!! It's a game I'm already thinking about going back over it with the different classes which is something I never even consider!!
As to whether I do that is a different matter altogether seeing as I have the attention span of a moth lol
Overall I feel it just has that almost perfect gameplay for me (slightly repetitive being my only gripe).
|
|
|
It's a nice looking game Jorkila but game of the year it isn't ,repetitive been the key word like you say.
Not the blockbuster title most expected and for me a game I have virtually forgotten about already as I go online for a master class of tactical play that is The last of us.
At this moment in time only a few games been released have me excited, and GTA update on the Playstation 4 and Xbox one isn't one of them ,even with the graphical enhancements ,and releasing this on the exact day as Far Cry 4 is stupid even though it will sell millions over again.
Not saying I won't buy it but Far Cry 4 has me really hyped ...

In terms of graphics and game mechanics it is brilliant, I cannot fault it at all. The main problem for me is the repetitive nature of the game and that there is no real story or life to the world. I completed it yesterday, I've hit lvl 20 and can't lvl anymore now without getting equipment with "Light" in it so that I can go to Light Lvl 21, Light Lvl 22 etc. I believe it caps out at Light Lvl 30.
I did every mission on Hard so that all that is left for me to do now is replay the game again but on heroic and focus on getting legendary gear. I've got all blue gear at the moment, so I just need to work up.
I think it's designed to get you to the top lvl quickly so that you can then focus on end game gear, so it's very much like an MMO in that sense. The online play is fun, I like control (which is basically Headquarters from other FPS games) but not a fan of the other ones.
I will continue to play it and get some legendary gear and now I'm lvl 20 I have unlocked the extra hard Strike Missions, which are for lvl 22 to 28 so that should be a challenge. They are adding their first 6 man raid in the next week or so, hopefully that will be fun.
I think ultimately it will get traded for one of the games coming out in October (Evil Within / Alien)
|
|
|
Oh I should add as well that it's really not anywhere near as fun playing it by yourself, find a friend to play it with and it makes the game ALOT more fun
|
|
|
|
I could not agree more and the more i play it the more bored i become with it,i haven't got the patience you have but i will trade this game in a matter of weeks if not days .
At first i was well impressed and likes it ,but within a day or so i found myself not that excited about playing it and quickly moved on to other games that i enjoy far more.
Problem with this game was the extreme amount of hype and to be honest it got nowhere near living up to it.
|
|
|
Yup I agree, I think the Gamespot review is "spot" on, excuse the pun it sums it up nicely. Although I notice all these faults with it and am aware of it, yet if my mate is online I will definitely hop on to play with him again as we had a hell of a lot of fun mowing down mobs

Much prefer to team up with my mate fior a bit of 4 v 4 The last of us multiplayer which we are totally useless at,it's the most frustrating team game I have ever played but it's extremely addictive .
I would class this game as one of the best online multiplayer games out there.
The last game I played and enjoyed so much was the old 360 version of Gears Horde mode,a mode they scrapped in gears judgement which was utter pants ...
I really hope Far Cry 4 lives up to my expectations ,I won't be bothered if it's exactly the same as far cry 3 but different areas and a graphical overhaul .
Personally I think so far this year game releases have been extremely thin on the ground and there isn't that much on the horizon that really excites me apart from Far Cry 4,please I really hope this game doesn't slip, especially as the revamped version of GTA5 for both the P4 and Xbone ship on the same day.
I really hope Ubisoft don't delay it based on that game getting a release on the next gen.

Finally got round to playing this after completing Diablo 3. Did the first mission in single player was pretty decent (same from Beta), A mate came online and we ended up doing the next 2 missions co-op and it was so much better. Thinking about it I don't really game by myself anymore, Only ones recently have been Wolfenstein and before that it was BF4 campaign (which I got for the multiplayer) . Single player games just don't hold my interest anymore it would seem. The games I play are
BF4
Diablo 3
Fifa 14
Forza 5
All of them online co-op with friends (apart from Forza which is racing against them)
Really not sure on Far Cry 4, I enjoyed FC3 to begin with but got bored with it about 10hrs in when it got very repetitive, Climb up tower to bring up map, Go to this location pick up something and back to base, Rinse and repeat.
As I said before I'm all about the co-op now and although you can do co-op it's not the story in co-op, Found out the new assassins creed is not proper co-op story and is some tacked on missions so I'm not sure I'll bother with that anymore.

Got an Xbox yesterday with Destiny.
Quick play last night through to where you first get to the city. Seemed pretty good. Only trouble is even after a short time my right hand was getting a little painful - think I must grip the controller too much.
|
|
|
Haha, I have that problem. I came off it on Saturday after nearly 10 hours straight online and my hand was killing, I definitely grip the controller too tight but I don't really notice it until it's too late.
I know what you mean Iranian, I used to always try and play co-op games especially when I shared a house with a friend. Now I live with my gf I do play a few more single player games, but I much prefer playing with others online when they are about.
