So, if you haven't tried it yet, now is the time.
I'm going to see if there have been any improvements since the last time I tried the game. The Duluxe version is currently just under £17, which is fairly good value. It also smacks of desperation though
Oooh - the standard version is £10.04 - EA must be really desperate

Well the game is over a year old now so you would expect it to drop to that kind of price level, I wouldn't say it's desperation. I got an email from Game yesterday saying Alien Isolation has been dropped to £25 and it hasn't even been out a month yet.... now that's desperation!

Yes, that is desperation!

EA are absolutely loaded, I guess they just think it's been a year, no one else is buying it with new FPS games coming out soon. If 10,000 people buy it a tenner it's better than no one buying it at £30 or whatever

To me it looks like they are trying to get some interest in BF4 as it hasn't been selling well at all.

Again another Dissapointing game reflected through poor sales and another wasted opportunity to turn a popular brilliant film franchise into a great game.
I really struggle why developers can not make decent games out of fantastic films.
Obviously it needs the likes of Naughty Dog or Rockstar to get on board and show all the other wanna be developers how to do it correctly....

12 months later trying to get interest seems like a complete waste of time if you ask me.
Have you seen the Gaming releases in the next 10 days, who is going to be slightly interested in Battlefield 4 when the likes of Advanced Warfare has just shipped [ not saying that's better ] Far Cry 4 mere days away,Dragon Age Inquistion ,little big planet 3 ,GTA 5 Redux,Assasins Creed Unity,Halo redux, and then the Crew at the start of December .

Things didn't exactly go well - cant play as I get the "Cant activate Battlefield 4 (Game Time) on this computer using your Origin Account. Please locate your product key".
Wonderful.

No, of course not!
I managed to get it working - had to uninstall and re-install it again for some reason.
There seems to be lag spikes (still) - every so often I couldn't move.
The Options menu freezes the program for a good couple of minutes too, before the options appear.

This is one of the reasons why a lot of people (including myself) prefer gaming on consoles against the PC master race, I had issues with the PC version as well with it loading up and punkbuster throwing me out of the game incorrectly, With console obviously all the parts are the same so much easier to code for, PC you can have thousands of different combinations of parts and so there are bound to be issues.
All those nice shiny graphics count for sweet FA if it doesn't work properly.

By all reports the console versions are as dodgy as the PC version, mainly because the Frostbite engine is so badly written. The networking system is shockingly poor.
Its a weird game - the only really good thing I can say about it at the moment is the sound effects are good.

Game plays fine for me now 90% of the time on the XB1.
The PC version is different story altogether,
1) Constant freezing on menu for a minute or so
2) Punkbuster crashing
3) Something else crashing during game that crashes it back to desktop
At least when I play on the XB1 I can actually play the game, I've given up on the PC version for the reasons above, Help desk couldn't even fix it after telling me to do stuff (or if it did it was OK for a round and then it broke again), I've updated to the latest drivers etc uninstalled and still it has issues, They ended up refunding me because of it, My PC is plenty fast enough to cope with it but for whatever reason something was obviously conflicting with it and I don't have time to keep trying to fix it when I can play the XB1 version fine with watered down graphics against PC.
The Netcode issues are a lot better now and I rarely have an issue with the game, TBH a lot of people who complain about the game are rubbish at it, Pretty much everyone I've watched on twitch etc who complain at the netcoding and it not registering hits etc are just holding down the trigger/mouse button and the recoil etc ends up with them off the target (that's even if they had the enemy in their crosshairs to begin with), I burst fire and like I said 90% of the time I have no issues with hit detection on people or being shot around corners anymore, The other 10% of the time I get someone who is a bullet sponge but I'd still rather play this game than any other FPS out there at the mo.

Battlefield 4 is unique in being problematic - I think DICE a) didn't have the required support and b) had too little time to the game and probably Frostbite too...
Its what comes of being absorbed into a publishing house that has lost its way...
