is it because it has no guns and is single player focused?
you guys seem to be playing either far cry 4 or drive club at the moment.

Your not exactly raving about it matey I have it here still wrapped and when i eventually finish Far Cry 4 i will let you know my thoughts,i doubt very much i be immersed and impressed as much as you because like you i have a favourite type of game and mine is FPS and yours is RPG type like Dragon Age and Final Fantasy.
People are not talking about it mate because there is only yourself and me on here that actually own it,and if you want to break that statement down a little more, there are only a handful of us on here that actually use the Gaming forum in the first place.
Its no good raving on to you about Far Cry 4 and how awesome and engaging the game actually is when i know you have a dislike of FPS,the same can be said about the type of game you like.
Im itching to try it but Far Cry 4 just grips me and thats all i want to play at present.

I haven't got this game and I don't think I will have chance to get it. Plus the fact I am not as into massive RPG's anymore unfortunately, I tried to play Oblivion and Skyrim and got bored of both after about 10 hours. I'm not sure if Dragon Age is the same kind of game but it looked it from what I read and saw online.
Don't get me wrong I used to love them and if they ever remade FF8 or 9 for next gen I would be all over that, I preferred the old turn based combat system to the modern way RPG's have gone. I had a few good RPG's on the 360, there was one JRPG which was turn based but I forget the name now, that was ace
Things like Breath of Fire on the old PS1 were great, all those kind of ones did it for me but I dunno, just not that into modern ones. Tastes change I suppose, if I'm going to play an open world game I prefer something like Assassins Creed or Farcry.

Oh and I should add that Farcry 4 is mainly a single player experience, there is a tiny bit of co-op in the main game but I decided to play offline than do that. I haven't touched the multiplayer and I won't bother, I just wanted a really good single player immersive experience and that's what it gives
yeah I stopped talking about it as no one else is playing it catch 22 at least you brought it tho and are willing to try it. Bad luck I guess far cry 4 came out at same time.

To be honest I also got bored of oblivion, and I am into RPG's.
In my opinion DA:I is not like oblivion and skyrim, it is very different.
Its not true open world, just has very large areas to explore.
There is a clear path to do the story, whilst skyrim and oblivion its very easy to spend 100s of hours doing other things.
You have a party vs the one character in those games.
Its third person view not first person view.
The combat system is way better.
I also love quality turn based rpg's, ironically the last one that was a hit was funded by microsoft. Lost oddysey. A big problem with those games they have largely moved over to hand held consoles and alot arent been translated to english anymore.

I just bought Captain Toad treasure hunter that was supposed to be released in the new year but Game have started selling it early and so is Shopto.net and hopefully i will have that on the Nintendo Wii U tomorrow to muck about with.
Im really tempted to unwrap this Dragon Age and give it a go but i know i will just go back to Far Cry 4 until i finish it,i have read many reviews and people are raving about this Dragon Age.
I do have my reservations though especially when i read one guys brilliant review and he stated it took him 40 minutes to design and pick his character ,he then realised in game that what he had chosen wasn't suited to his style and started over again, this is were my patience is tested fully and i will try and persevere with the game.

I played it a week or so before it came out via EA Access for 5 hours or so, The game looked and played well itself but I hated the user interface with a passion it was horrible slow and had a clunky feel to it.
Oh right ok, see now that sounds interesting! The thing that I hated about Skyrim and Oblivion was that it wasn't linear. I never knew which was the main quest, which were side quests etc. I know that's meant to be part of the fun of it, but for me I like to have a clear idea of where it is going.
I may check this out then, I think I will be done with Farcry by end of next week so this could fill the time before Dying Light.
Are there different classes to choose from like a typical RPG? Or as you have a team does each person in the team have a class like Final Fantasy style? You have my attention
Would you say it's similar to Sacred or Dungeon Siege?
I put it on today for about 30 minutes and its going to be a game i really love or a game i really hate based on the controls.
It looks really really heavy in the combat area,i may well get it i may well not and this is basically why i don't really like games of this style as they are basically just way to complicated for me to have the patience with them.
Now I'm not saying the same about this because 30 minutes just looking and doing a few fight sequences and fighting menu prompts and a introduction and tuition I'm not going to judge the game.
I could be coming on here singing its praises or the complete opposite.
But it does look exciting but I'm not sure i am going to like the combat system and choices and assigning this and that..Any recommendations on the character type to choose,i have chosen Human at the moment but may well change it

there is 3 main classes, rogue, mage and warrior.
Then each class can be one of 3 specializations as well.
I think mage is probably the easiest to play since you can do almost everything at long range. Also one of mage specializations effectively puts you in god mode everyone praying bioware dont patch it out.
Warrior is melee either with two handed weapon or sinlge weapon and shield.
Rogue is either ranged archer or dual daggers, most people seem to prefer dual daggers due to very high DPS.
The game can be a shock at start tho, there is no healing other than 8 healing potions shared between entire party, you cannot get new healing potions out if the field, only in camps or your base or a keep. The warrior serves as the tank and you will heavily rely for survivability early on, it does this by generating a thing called guard as it fights which is effectively a shield.
Mage's can generate magical barriers, which early on seem rubbish they naturally decay really fast, but you can make them decay slower with power ups and the god mode mage specialization makes you regenerate shield everytime you hit an enemy.
Also later in the game you can add special abilities via rare metal's such as generating guard on every hit, and the sweet thing is any class can use this so e.g. mage's can get guard with this. So the game gets much easier as you go on my view.
The menu/interface system is somewhat clunky sadly, but thats not really used in battle's.
For battle you basically have your basic attack and can map up to 8 different abilities to different buttons. It is simpler than DA1.
Not sure what the PS4 visuals are like but on the PC it looks pretty good, I assume the PS4 has decent visuals as well.

It looks mighty fine mate,I'm actually playing as the warrior at present but its early days and i may yet start it again as I'm not to keen on the look i created as my hair looks Ginger
I'm only 20 minutes in and at the part were i have to sort of stop time and assign who i want attacking who and then i just hold the R2 button and it plays out.
This alone a little confusing and i normally just cancel that out and fight the normal mode if I'm honest.
Graphically its really, really nice but from what have played briefly at present far cry 4 looks better.
Will let you know how i get on in the next few weeks or couple of years

just use normal, mode I rarely use the tactical mode. It has more use in things like dragon fights but for most fights normal mode is fine.

Will do matey....have a good Crimbo.....Bo Selecta Captain Toad Treasure hunter just turned up for me Wii U.
Nintendo seriously make quality colourful games every so often.....Roll on the new Zelda next year...
I am tempted to pick up a Wii U, I quite fancy Mario Kart, Smash Bros and the new Zelda that is coming out next year. The screenshots for that look beautiful! Zelda has always been one of my favourite game series, but I lost interest when the graphics went really silly like that Wind Walker game.
Not sure though, will see what deals come out over Christmas
When Nintendo make a game, they make a Game that's colurful and beautiful in its presentation and although the Nintendo Wii has not exactly set the world on fire and has been totally hammered by the opposition it has some great games.
I understand your Wind walker points mate but it's still a gem of a game believe me and looks drop dead gorgeous in HD.
I don't play my Wii much and was seeing that when Captain Toad Treasure Hunter just got released in the Far East I thought there is my next purchase based on the brilliant reviews..
I got a surprise the other day and today it turned up just before Xmas ,see the game was not suppose to be out until Jan next year in the UK,Game started selling it and everybody followed suit...
I'm not in any desperate need for any games and have plenty to keep me busy, but on occasions I like games I can play for 30 minutes or so and Far Cry,Dragon Age,and GTA5 are not those type and this is.plus I loved the captain toad missions in the Wii U Mario Game...

is treasure tracker same game?
looks good thanks, will add to wishl;ist.
wow it has weird release date xmas eve? so if I order now I be very surprised if its here soon.

Yeah Tracker was playing it yesterday.

good job shopto put all xmas orders on hold until new year.
if they shipped via citylink it would be stuck as that company gone bust.
Well the cut of was last Monday 23rd and on that morning I ordered it and it arrived Tuesday...
And I'm now on my 4th attempt at Dragon Age having not like the Character creation I have made once again, tried the Bow man and that was extremely boring and tedious so I'm going back to one with a sword or similar......
I may start playing it one day properly .......That's the trouble with these massive games, you start of a create your chosen Character and that takes 20 minutes and if you start playing and it's not for you then back to the drawing board...

Well I ordered from Shopto Friday 19th (evening) which they said would be guaranteed to be delivered before XMAS. Dispatched Saturday but I didn't get it. Not happy at all and I will be complaining.
* Obviously if it was dispatched its Royal mail at fault but a guarantee should be a guarantee and I expect something for not fulfilling it.

Time to start playing game of the year gta v then
Nice work with the truck I felt guilty after saving the hostage and then accidentally reversing over him with the truck. Needs one of those stickers on the back that says "If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you." but in Kyratean of course.
Two indisputable facts about GTAV:
1. It was rightfully game of the year in 2013, but it can't win again just by upgrading visuals and adding extra player perspective. That would undermine the validity of the award.
2. It's installing to my hard drive as we speak.
I'd forgotten how long it took last time though!

GTAV is unequivocally a remaster with much better clarity. It isn't as nice to look at as The Last of Us Remastered, and the body physics are nothing like FarCry 4. In fact I would have to say FC4 is better in all aspects, the visuals, definition, physics.
But for sheer enjoyment, first person mode in GTAV is brilliant. I've set it up to automatically swap to 3rd person in cover which is both clever and helpful. Unfortunately though I haven't yet been able to transfer my progress as PSN is still partially down. But YouTube and Share Factory are still available.
So I made a video. This really was my first 5 minutes of play and it felt like I'd never been away....only better!
Straight back in the saddle!

Nice work with the truck It seems I'm not the only one with a truck fetish.

I'm really not sure about this game if I'm honest,I know it's early days but I'm finding the combat quite tedious and somewhat boring,I hate the menu system as it's just far to complex and frustrating and I'm totally lost with all the customisation ,upgrades which is just over complicated and time consuming
It was always going to be a challenge for me to get into this game because it's not my favourite type and on many occasions be it elder scrolls, oblivion,Fallout I have quickly become fed up and lose interest very quick with confusing menu and ranking up systems .
Today I spent 15 minutes trying to kill the first dragon type monster and lost 3 of my party in the process,I then realised that I had to shut the portal or weaken it somewhat before any hit on the monster actually done any damage.
I think I'm more keen on opening up GTA5 and sort of leaving this alone, personally it wouldn't surprise me if I traded this pretty soon because I'm just not getting it or enjoying it,loved the videos of this game and the previews but real time I'm not that sure it's for me.
Game could be 60/100 hours,I'm frustrated and fed up with it after 60 minutes,it's not a bad looking game but no way is this a touch on Far Cry 4 ....

I had my doubts about this type of game but because it looked so awesome i took the plunge and really ,seriously I'm not enjoying any of it.
I should have known having bought previous Dragon Age games and trading them days later, same with Elder Scrolls, and all the other massive RPG they just don't excite me in the same way Driving games and Sports Sims don't .
Way to complex ranking and menu systems,to much boring tedious talking and quite frankly boring combat from the 2 hours i have spent with it having started it over 4 times because i just didn't like the character i had created.
I remember when i first bought Fallout 3 and loved the slow motion kills but the rest of it bored the pants of me.
I haven't given up with Dragon Age Inquisition but i have about 4 other games i would rather play than this,i would rather delete my Far Cry 4 save and start that over than persevere with this as patience and this game in general just isn't for me.
I also find it way to confusing knowing what to do where to go,got totally confused with the menu and ranking up weapon section, didn't have a clue what i was doing when assigning points acquired to certain attributes and weapons.
Guess Chrysalis i feel the same about this type of game like yourself with FPS.
Im not going to say its rubbish because it isn't and many gaming websites have this in the running for Game Of The year and the reviews were mind blowing but i should stick with what i like and this isn't it.
it is what it is, just not your genre.
No problem, I will continue to be the single representation of RPG on here amongst the FPS masses
For me DA:I isnt complex, it actually feels dumbed down as DA1 is much more advanced in the tactics and levelling up system. They dumbed down DA:I to try and attract casual gamers.
The conversation system is a big thing in Dragon Age, and that played a big part in DA1, not so big part in this game apart from one section of the game which is 90% conversation based as its a politics part of the game.
The customising of weapons is not a requirement of this game, you can choose to completely ignore it and just rely on weapons you find from exploring and buy in shops. They simplified that as well by displaying the DPS for each weapon, higher DPS = more damage.
I am going to try and get in to it mate because it seems just a waste to pass it by given what the majority of people think is a awesome game.
But for now I'm going to play games i really enjoy and next up is the Redux of GTA5.
Ain't really had a chance to touch that yet, although I've transferred my character and completed that first car race. Swanny and Jorkilla looked like they were on a long session together last night!

I saw one of your videos and i though that your time spent after Far Cry 4 would be playing GTA5.
Im seriously going to play Far Cry 4 through again as i absolutely adored it,think i have been on for about 1 hour in 2 weeks as gaming hasn't been something i felt like doing over Xmas.

Im seriously going to play Far Cry 4 through again
I've sort of lost interest in it at the moment. I fixed all the towers which was really easy if you use the helicopter thing, just a few bases to liberate and some missions. Will go back to it again soon.
I am later, you lot just keep switching games far to often for my liking.....Jorkila been the worse culprit,he changes. Games like I change my boxers,......Twice a Year.....
No seriously he has the attention span even worse than me,I think when I have been pro active on my console seen him switch and play 6 games in a matter of hours......
Seems he likes Drive Club though, seen him connected for at least 30 minutes......
Gotta be open minded and keep ya options open matey
I know matey, just these games are massive in size, not exactly a quick pick up and play for 10 minutes apart from that Drive Club where you can pick it up and drop it in the pedal bin in the kitchen.... that's quite easy ....
