Re: dx12 tech info presentation

Interesting test results on an i7-5820k with a GTX 970 at 4x MSAA, 1920x1080, shadow resolution 2048² and 16x anisotropic filtering. So not maxed. An unbiased article that doesn't even state the test set up until pushed to do so in the comments.

A sample of those comments here that do not seem to support your claim:
"I can get 40-55fps on one r9 290 at 3820x2160"
"At aa 8x on a gtx780TI + i7 4790k I play almost always at 60 fps, but it happens to drop about 40 fps... that's not optimization if i drop on this hardware config...."
"Anyway, all of that said, the game runs at 60FPS @1080 almost all times, for me, except for very specific times like battles where it might jump to 30FPS, but honestly I never really notice the dips when they do happen. It still runs much better than it ever did on my 360. I am running with an FX8350 and GTX 970."
"I am in the same boat. With xiii I could down sample from 4k to 1440p with the normal 60-30 dips, but it was playable. Taking the same exact settings in xiii-2 I get less than 10 fps in the opening scene. This is actually hilarious because I am running it on an r9 295x2!!!! So something is severely broken with the game considering I can run dragon age inquisition on ultra 1440p."
"I don't have a super rig - i7, 8gb ddr3, gti750 with 2gb GDDR5. The game, running with godesato forced resolution to a measly 1920x1080, ran like absolute [censored] at even medium-high settings."

Then my personal favourite:

The game runs on constant 20 FPS, it's like I'm running it on a toaster not on a 780 gtx...

Now you would have to try really hard to find a pattern there. It is simply a very poorly optomised game on any GPU and why you would use it to beat AMD with, I can only surmise.

You see, you say you want AMD to get back in the race, yet you can't comprehend how blanket statements made by "enthusiasts" like yourself, actually damage that prospect.

I am just reporting what it is, one reason its bad on amd systems is it only uses one cpu core. Yes thats bad optimisation from the developer but it is what it is. I think amd gpu's are ok on the game tho its just the cpu's.

In a perfect world, developers would optimise their games properly and all hardware would run to the best of its ability, sadly thats not the real world. Hence my previous comments on hardware.

DX12 should improve things for new games, but most people will still be playing dx11 and older games for quite a while yet.

GTA5 is a recent game that has no gameworks "and" uses all cpu cores. That game as far as I know runs reasonably well on amd systems.

I replied for numerous reasons.

1. You believe that spending ages playing pc games makes you some sort of game technology demigod. It doesn't.
2. You believe that I need to be a pc expert to get to grips with game technology. I don't.
3. You overstate everything.
4. You ruined my thread by overstating everything and changing your stance as and when it suited you.
5. You accused me of being a fanboy on multiple occasions because I dared to expose your own "...isms".
6. You had a happy AMDer come on here and point out your one sided commentary, but didn't feel the need to call him out for it.

I'm honestly not sure why I bother with you. I hate IQ jousting with nobody's. It wastes precious time I could be spending absorbing factual information.

And "for the record", I didn't cherry pick anything. I copied all of the manufacturer biased comments from that thread, and guess what is plain for all here to see? They're pretty well balanced. Both AMD and NVIDIA having the same problems. That doesn't appear to justify your "...it runs like a dog on AMD cards" comment.

So I will level the same accusation I have for the last couple of weeks. You overstate all of the issues in favour of the card you own. It simply isn't true. And everytime I come up with opposing opinions (from actual users, not me) you simply accuse me of fanboyism. Why is that? Because all of them are wrong and you are right? I find complaints from both sides all over the place, is it only your green team that are right?

No of course not. The differences are marginal unless Gameworks is applied, which leads us back to the same partnering concerns.

So here are the two plainly obvious facts that we can infer from all this arguing:

1. NVIDIA edges performance in most games, but both have their issues (clearly though NVIDIA's current application of Gameworks is open to the accusation of sharp practice).

2. You overstate everything because you are a fanboy.

How do you like that Mr NVIDIA lubba lubba? Nelly winding you up with his facts again is he?

[censored]

So you have your way. I will now keep my research posted privately. When I finally get to build my pc, I won't share the footage for fear of discrimination and heaven forbid go out in public, letting everybody see my AMD t-shirt sun tan and risking reprisals...

Man up. Don't post a half page pop at somebody and then delete it with "can't be bothered."

Chicken [censored]. Roll out the facts or wind your neck in. If you can prove my £600 AMD build will run like [censored] compared to a £600 NVIDIA build, let's have the evidence.

Otherwise shut your useless gob.

Because he thought better of his reasoned response and decided to go on another repetitive, unsubstantiated rant against me and my obvious struggle in understanding made up facts. Then deleted it while I was replying.

You know what they say. If you want facts, go on a fact hunt, you fact hunter you.

I am asking you respectfully to stay out my future threads, I am not interested in your nvidia vs amd crusade.

If you want me to stay out of yours I will do so.
