It's on the PS store now for £12
Sounds like a good price for a new game.
I think I'll get myself a card and top up my wallet
|
|
|
I already posted this last week when the game was on the store a week last Tuesday so keep up
I also posted that originally i was really keen to buy it until the mixed bag of reviews started coming in calling it quite slow boring and tedious with nice music but the game was completely ruined by the very slow pace that you can walk, given that it is a exploration type game it lost a lot of points based on that alone.
You be better of getting the game called Volume which i have just downloaded
|
|
|
|
I think I might download it too. The intellectual press have been singing it's praises.
Most gaming websites talk tosh nowadays and we all risk missing out if we accept their opinions carte blanche.

Don't lie. You backed out as soon as you realised it wasn't Vanila Ice's new reality TV gig...
|
|
|
I never heard of it so googled it.
Read this far
"Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is a first-person adventure video game "
Then gave up on it too many FPS
Although its single player focused with a good story?

But you like Flower ??

It's not an FPS

I bought it last night but it was taking ages to download so I played AS for a few hours and then went to bed. Maybe it will finish downloading tonight :/

|

I hate abbreviations. What is AS?

Assassins creed
Sorry it should have been AC

Anyway on topic downloaded the game as was curious even though it had some negative reviews and from what i have played its not that exciting but has some lovely music . What you should be saying is "it's not my bag". The game has excellent reviews all round, so you need to announce your subjectivity or actually play it through before putting others off it.
The only criticism this game has received by objective reviewers, is the variable frame rate. But those that understand the preface before buying it, will likely really enjoy it. I've got store credit with Game so I might pick up a PSN card today if I can get up the city centre.

Actually Nelly the game has a mixed bag of reviews, some think its tedious and boring and others think its outstanding ?
I have played it for some 20 minutes so I'm not actually reviewing the game in question just my initial thoughts.
If i don't like it and i haven't finished with it i don't really care with Gears ,Until Dawn,Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid 5 just a week away and my new fondness of the last of us online [frustrated yes] but love it and am totally addicted to it.
So i have plenty to keep me occupied, plus we have just sold our Mansion [I mean House] and in a few months of to a lovely place in Shropshire .

Played it tonight and i have to say its the most boring game i have ever had the misfortune of playing,Swanny you were also playing this and you made a grave mistake picking this over Journey which is a masterclass in Gaming.
|
|
|
I've played journey.
It's ok I quite enjoyed wandering around the village even though I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing.
Someone must be about as the dog ends in the pub ash trays are still smoking. And the transit van has moved from the top of the hill to the bottom. Either that or they've been cloning number plates :/
Good to be back in 1982
50p a pint. Those were the days

Its not what i call £12.99 ok though like you i haven't got much of a clue to whats going on and to be fair i find listening to the conversations in the game a bit like listening to Nelly on here....... Say no more ?
|
|
|
I haven't got much of a clue You said it.
I find listening to the conversations in the game a bit like listening to Nelly on here....... Say no more ? Listening is a pre requisite for this game (they never made any secret of that) and just lately that's not been your strongest suit. Still awaiting your review, as you seem so intent on slagging it off. If you want people to agree with you (which is plainly obvious) then give us a reason to believe you and the other 10% of reviewers who resent it, lest we believe the other 90% who knew what they were expecting for their £12-99.

For £12 I reckon it's a good game.
I'm doing Wendy now

My Rapture download is hardly moving and it's the first time ever I have suffered really slow download speeds on the PSN. Struggling to reach 0.1 MB/s when it usually blasts through at nearly 5 MB/s. I can understand people moaning if they get this regularly, but I certainly don't.
Demand perhaps, as it is so cheap?
EDIT: paused and restarted it and it's now running at 4.5MB/s. From 10 hours down to 20 minutes.
Cushdy!!

The dynamic theme installed almost immediately though. Got a lovely calming windmill and some gently haunting piano going on.
Very nice.

for what its worth I did buy it.
This shows when a game is made with a reasonable budget and sold at a reasonable price it can sell more, as at £12 I decided to take a "punt".

And what did you personally think of it ?
|
|

not played it yet

I'm one hour in and this is how l feel so far
Beautiful artistic design with a fantastic score.
Reviewers claims that it is irritatingly slow are utter nonsense. Could it be faster? Not really, it's not COD and you need to explore with you mind, not just your feet. It could be a little faster when travelling between locations, but not by much for fear of missing something.
Is it on rails? Too early to tell, but exploration is the whole point to this game and how you go about it will likely depend on your personal level of OCD. I'm robotically thorough so it could get monotonous if the story doesn't hold up.
Eurogamer accused it of suffering fairly consistent stutter. That's not been my experience at all, but there have been a couple of obvious frame rate drops so far. Certainly not consistent. Well not yet anyway.
Has it rocked my world? No. But I am thoroughly enjoying it so far, sat in the recliner wearing my headphones. Visual cues take a back seat to sounds in this game (so far at least) and the stereo effect makes the searching far more immersive.

It's very atmospheric
I've finished it.
I thought it was really good, seems to me they got everything right. Well except the footballs look a bit to big
Old one legged Lizzie's a bit of a game bird

I'm just installing BF4 premium. So far it's taken the best part of two days to install. Still two map packs left. My download speedtest says I'm getting 37.10Mbps so it's not my connection which means it's Sonys fault. Feckin rubbish PSN.
|
|
|
With all the moans from gamers regarding psn slow download speeds and the fact the now paid service is worse than when it was free begs the question ?
Why on earth are Sony not spending some of the massive cash resources they are now getting on upgrading there servers and service.
Its never been as good as Xbox and i feel it never will, the only plus i find regarding the Xbox One and Playstation 4 is the install times are far quicker on Playstation 4 opposed to Xbox One.
But thats the only positive thing i can say about PSN,it seems to have generally gone down the pan and Microsoft seem to be catching up at a rapid rate and i feel the one time mighty lead the playstation 4 had is dwindling on a daily basis.
The Playstation 4 still seems to sell more on a month by month basis, but Microsoft seem to be trying to get back on track and give gamers what they desired in the first place.

You be installing Black Ops 3 in a couple of months as well won't you ?
I won't be .......Guaranteed,unless the people that buy it convince me that it has a mind blowing zombie mode, thats what made treyarch famous for as far as I'm concerned, even though they are now considered the top cod developers after the demise of Infinity Ward and the lacklustre Sledghammer Games.

Isn't that game thats some 2 years old or what ? Most times i see you on your playing that Battlefield Hardline,a game you said was not very good .
Swanny have you yet to play The last of us online or what ?
I really don't understand why you have not tested this online mode if you have the game.

I don't do COD games anymore. Just a 13 year olds game.

Yea it's old but all my mates are playing it. Hardline isn't very good either but there's nothing else out there that I want to play.
Your online review of TLOU has put me off even installing the game. It's still in it's box. I thought TLOU was ok on the PS3 but got [censored] off with it when I couldn't get past the level with the different zombies on. Should have saved my money.

Listen carefully ,the last of us single player/online is a masterclass in Gaming and coming from Uncharted developer its not hard to see why.
The last of us online is one of the most addictive exhilarating experiences you are likely to get playing online, but it requires a team of 4 players really as that what sets it apart from other run and gun shooters which this is not.
It helps immensely if you can get at least 3/4 friends in your team, its not essential but as soon as you create a party with 2 people and play with your friends you have to play with other parties which generally means you are going to come across some terrific teams and players that work very tactically and as a team.
This is when the game can become mighty frustrating which i have said time and time again, 1 minute i absolutely love it and on many occasions i rage quit due to my dire shooting or lack of stealth tactics or the fact myself and my mate have a couple of idiots on our team running around shooting and giving away our positions.
I have never ever had so much fun with a online game, but on the other hand i have never ever been so frustrated by a online game.
You need to check this game out Swanny, because its a fantastic game of which you may just take to like a duck to water.
Its literally stupidity that you own this game and you have not checked out the online, regarding of what i say or think ?
As for you struggling to get past the Zombie in the single player, then that really is taking the biscuit and a complete lack of patience and understanding of The last of us,thats not even a hard part and just requires stealth and tactics.
I died a few times on the first play through, but by no means would i say thats hard, based on what you say then if you think thats tough then try a 4 on 4 online with established players

It was the level where you drop down through the floor and have all the different types of zombies in the rooms below. I don't know how many times I tried and died but in the end I lost my patience with it and gave up. I wasn't that impressed with it in the first place.
I might give it another go when the winter comes.

I know the part you mean and i had a couple of failed attempts but i wouldn't call it difficult.
As for not being impressed by the last of us in the first place then words fail me
Think Nelly will agree with me on this one

they probably using it to keep the company alive, the playstation brand is just about the only profitable part of sony at the moment.

BF4 is fantastic, particularly on pc in all it's glory

Think Nelly will agree with me on this one No shadow of a doubt. The best game I have ever played, no debate.
I suppose if you hate third person games you might not like it. The only criticism I have of the game is the weapon upgrade system seemed a little pointless, with upgrade tables being few and far between. But that doesn't impact the gameplay as you pick up most of your weapons, and the other crafting items and materials were balanced beautifully.
It does everything you could ever ask from a game, and does it brilliantly....FACT.

I've found that stopping and starting the download returns it to full speed. No idea why it slows in the first place though.

Don't think that his issue as he loves the Uncharted games and thats 3rd person perspective ..........Just think he's paints if you ask me
Can you believe this fool has not even tried the online mode for The last of us,saying my frustration with the game put him of trying .
When on here have any person ever taken noticed of Timey especially yourself Nell ?

That bit is tricky, you basically just need to sneak around and stealth kill all of the zombies. Take cover somewhere and use Joels hearing mode to learn their movement patterns. May take a few attempts but that should work.
Really is a must play.

Sure, make sure the beer is cold! Good man!
I'm sure he'll love it once he gets further in. That level was a bit annoying at first, but if it had come another couple of hours into the game, he'd probably of relished the challenge. There's another similarly frustrating bit later on in Ellie's part, but none of it is any harder than the Uncharted games. Just need to be a bit less Gung Ho!
But it's definitely a must play.
