VR

[link to this post]

I think it looks like it could be a lot more fun than perhaps some people are expecting. Have to wait to see what it goes on sale for though. I won't be an early adopter. smile

Two good videos and a write up.

There's a lot of pc snobbery going on down in the comments, but I think it looked good too. I think the small screens will defeat their resolution arguments.

The concern I have with regard to the Occulus Rift is that everybody that has played it seem to think it is front heavy and uncomfortable compared to Project Morpheus. That would definitely be more important to me than increasing the resolution beyond 1080.

Perhaps tellingly, I have never managed to get enthused about mech games, but the VR straight away makes me want to give it a good go.

Don't know. Isnt that 3D glasses? I know that you have a gap under the screens so you can look at the floor if you feel queezy. That's meant to help relieve any motion sickness.

You're starting to sound like Victor Meldrew lately....and I'm pretty sure I know who you caught it off. frown

VR is now a publicly proven technology and can only gather momentum. Embrace the future.

In other news, I'm worryingly starting to fancy Black Ops 3.....MEDIC!

Tell you now i have no interest in Black Ops 3 and i will not be buying this game unless it has a absolutely mind blowing addictive Zombie game.tongue.

Frag is a Cod fan,he downloaded and played the beta and was not impressed, same old copy/paste scenario over and over again.

Pants on Fire wink

Seriously Swanny i have no interest in VR whatsoever ?

I know i have backtracked and bought games i said i wouldn't but this is truly different and when i say absolute no interest i seriously mean it.

I just don't see this as the immediate future of gaming for many reasons, for one its going to require body/head movement and this is ok for 10 minutes but playing a game for hours its not.

If you have good reason to dismiss the technology, such as first hand experience perhaps. But I don't know as though any of us here have had that yet?

I'm not saying it won't fall flat. But from thorough reading outside of the gaming press, the odds are stacked overwhelmingly in it's favour currently. The processing power is available to make it work this time around, and commercial enterprises are queuing up to take advantage, from Airlines to the England Rugby Team.

It's coming, like it or not.

London heist and the guy playing it looks ridiculous to say the least, seriously are you expecting me to believe that Nelly Move controllers in hand and a contraption strapped on his head is going to enjoy this VR.........wink

Sorry to disappoint but like games i generally buy before the rest i won't be the test pilot on this venture........No Sir.

Guess if i was about 20 i might be somewhat interested, more interested in a Motion controlled stair lift crazy

It get's lonely up here on the roof, especially when people are happy to watch from afar as you stick your head above the parapet.

Internet commenters are conspicuous by their absence at times, but this forum has always had considerably more viewers than participants. It would be interesting to get more considered opinions. I can't say that Sony's Morpheus will bring the number of titles required to stay relevant before a hardware refresh is required. But I guarantee driving officianados will love it and will be singing its praises web wide. That alone should see it sell. As for the Occulus Rift with PC power to harness, the possibilities are almost infinite.

It's here to stay this time, but in what numbers initially is the real question.
