SLI Nightmare

Afternoon folks,

I'm hoping you can help with an SLI issue I'm having please, it's driving me insane. Yesterday I did a new build from Scan and the PC is now built obviously. I'm using the card I already had previously:

I then purchased this as part of the build to make it SLI:

This is running on an Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard and Windows 10. When trying to enable SLI on Nvidia Control panel the options are greyed out! No matter what I do I can not get the "maximise 3d performance" button to show. This is what I have tried:

*I have verified in the BIOS that both cards are running PCIE x8, plus the fact I can see the cards in the BIOS and on Windows itself
*Switched the cards around
*Uninstalled drivers, shut down and taken the SLI bridge off. Then installed drivers again, shut down and put the SLI bridge back on
*Updated motherboards to latest BIOS
*Edit: Also running off a Corsair 750 Modular PSU so should be good for power

Any help certainly appreciated

I have a feeling it's an issue using different types of 970, have a look here.

Also maybe something useful to you here.

Thanks for the links Jorkilla. If I sell my MSI card and get the exact same card (the EVGA one) do you reckon that would put me in better stead?

I'd be quite confident that you would be fine doing that but I'm not 100% certain that there's not a fix out there that could save you some money mate.

I have tried many believe me ! Someone made a tool called differentSLIAuto1.2 which worked for some, but not for me unfortunately.
