Never played one of these games but it does look good.. would you be missing out not having played previous ones, is it a continuing story or standalone one ?
You'll be fine they are all standalone
Just wander about in post nuclear war America and kill stuff while collecting bottle tops
It's all rather slow going while looking flipping fantastic on PC!!

Well this is just a brief summary of a game that could literally take up 200 hours of game time, exploration and understanding certain games is not exactly my forte and i like games that really make it crystal clear as to where to go and what to do next.
Right..Fallout 4 is brilliant,it sucks you into a post apocalyptic world and it keeps you well and truly gripped from the moment the game plays out.
Graphically its no showboat and graphics go from outstanding [the streams ] to Minecraft in places if I'm honest, but Fallout has never been up there with Uncharted and never tried to be.
What i like about this game is the Shooting and the Vax System this game uses, what i don't like about this game is the Map and the confusing aspects associated with it.
You have a bar at the bottom of the screen and when you are on a mission thats all fine and dandy, but as you walk towards a mission all kind of different symbols appear and it hard to work out which one to pick, which is a side quest and which is the main mission.
Do you know it took me the best part of 45 minutes to actually work out how to get out of vault 111.Something that should take 10 minutes tops.
Ive actually come across a group of raiders which i have wasted Sam Peckinpah style and found the robotic suit,I'm told to go outside and kill what appears to be the first wasteland Monster,I'm also told to pick up the Gatling gun to do so,think i can find that [youtube here i come already]whats needed is clear markers on the map line instead of symbols that mean literally nothing to me.
Edit..Sorted,the gun is it right by the power armour suit, well top of the roof
Seriously thick or What..You Decide Go to 57 minutes to catch my drift.
I have to put my Pip Boy on,highlight the map to see what these symbols actually mean, try as i might i have spent 30 minutes trying to avoid this wasteland monster looking for the gun.
So tonight people i saved the game and left it still totally confused but blown away by a game that will take me until this time next year to finishIf i ever get anywhere near finishing it when they are this rich in content and exploration .

Great summary there Swanny

what I find interesting is that video is still online yet when someone uploads a video showing frame rate drops this happens.
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by ZeniMax Media Inc."
But yeah the early parts of his video didnt look great but that scene at 57mins+ is quite good.
it would seem the ps4 version is actually overall better.

Other than the random stuttering, it looks good on both consoles with a consistent enough frame rate. Considering the amount of detail in there, that is not bad at all. I'm surprised.
I'm now tempted to pick it up, but as it's not a multiplayer game that will be on pc where it looks really nice indeed.

No point beating around the bush
Sounds fun
Does it have much of a story ? Just thinking it would need to to hold my attention if it's such a huge game.

not on the xbox1 those 1 sec long freezes are something that shouldnt be in a final product.
Also its not that difficult to make a game able to stay at 30fps all the time. It seems dev's never learn they do it time and time again, visuals over frame rate consistency.

Do you know it took me the best part of 45 minutes to actually work out how to get out of vault 111.Something that should take 10 minutes tops. I reckon it took me 20 mins to get out mate, mainly because once I had opened the vault, I went back to the rest room and stored a load of cockroach meat in the fridge. Not sure why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time, seeing as the fridge was still working!
And I did read every line in the computer terminals, just in case I missed anything. I think ten minutes would be ignoring too much stuff to be honest.
Oh, and OCD styley I tried to open every Cryo chamber, and checked the status of every occupant in the Cryo control computers in each room. We shouldn't be solving mysteries by accident, now should we Magoo, where would be the fun in that?!
I'm not going to give story spoilers away, but it seems after about an hour and a bit of gameplay, there is a very real purpose and a targeted outcome to the script, which I feel is important in such a vast open world title. Stops you losing focus and getting bored.
So yeah, very impressed so far.

Ive restarted it 3 times as i have discovered things i have been completely doing wrong.
Dis you actually know when you first visit the weapons upgrade bench that you need certain ingredients and items to say change the size of the muzzle or Grip for starters.
It will highlight the items missing when you haven't got the parts, what i didn't notice at the bottom of the screen when looking at the upgrade and missing parts that you can actually highlight the missing items yourself.
So then when you are picking up literally 1000s of things you will come across the bits you require for that important upgrade highlighted by a magnifying glass.

It's a Bethesda game, they are very well known for having bugs and performance issues in all of their final releases. It's one of those things though that because it's Bethesda a lot of gamers are just "Ahhh shucks, we can't stay mad at them"

Not my kind of humour. I do not get these people who put videos up like this and the ones who put videos up of them playing a game and they have a little corner of the screen showing their camera facing them. Like "PewDiePie". I would much rather sit and play the game myself than sit and watch someone else play a game... on YouTube.

Not my kind of humour.
Nor mine. I don't like watching him as the francis chap, so I don't

Only the second video of his I have seen (because it was posted here) but he is funny, way over the top but done for humour, which I can appreciate

I would also much rather play a game myself but it seems these videos are very popular, people like pewdiepie and stampy are making millions a year on youtube, don't blame them just wish I had done it! not a bad way to make a living. have watched some minecraft videos with my daughter and they have actually been pretty entertaining so see the appeal them.

It's because it really isn't all that mate.
It might look great but the game play is just a drag to be honest!
If you're gonna buy it you're better off getting it on pc, you can have all the bells and whistles then!
I agree with Kila mate. It's fairly laborious, if you haven't got ages to throw at it. I'd get it on PC and connect it to the telly.
Make sure you have a massive bag of 50 pence pieces though......
So for the people that have played this - shall i get it now or wait for a patch to fix the issues like framerate etc that have been widely reported?
Depends on what you are buying it for,i have spent limited time with both the Xbox One version and the Playstation 4 and have only experienced a little bit of slowdown on the Playstation 4 believe it or not.
Its a game that will truly take you months to finish and may have you frustrated about the amount of content on offer and the fact is you could play this literally all day and achieve very little..
More is not always best and there are way to many side quests for liking and a very confusing map and far to many in depth menu to navigate around.
Its a great game if you like heavy orientated rpg which i really don't,i may well go back to it when i run out of other games but at present its on the back burner as i have games like Just Cause 3 that give me more of a sense of achievement .
I know i will love it, i have loved all other Bethesda RPG's and this style of game appeals to me. Witcher 3 is my GOTY so far. Its more from a technical standpoint. Do i wait for a patch or 2 (this could be weeks away due to the certification process) and get Halo/Tomb Raider in the mean time, or is it stable enough to enjoy now without annoying bugs?
So since you mention Tomb Raider, guessing you mean Rise of the Tomb raider you either have a Xbox One or 360 as thats the only platform that game is on at present.
Let me tell you one thing ......Rise of the Tomb raider is exceptional and i am now on my 3rd play through its that good.
Fallout 4 is fine and there is no reason to wait for a patch.
I had witcher and gave up after about 3 hours, its not my taste and i know it appeals to others,if Fallout 4 was a FPS i would be absolutely ecstatic But its not and its what you like heavy on the rpg elements and extremely time consuming.
If you want a game to play for months then this is it.
However if you want a quick fix and one that lasts about 20 hours with a lot of replay value and some outstanding graphics and set pieces and will keep you totally enthralled the minute you start playing it then its Rise of the Tomb Raider without question ?

Yea got Xbone. So many great games out this time of year
I'm waiting for Timey to sell me his
Fallout 4 runs better on Xbox One than it does on playstation 4 ,and i know as i have had both versions.
I have Rainbow six siege and Just Cause 3 around tomorrow and that will do me nicely for my Christmas Fix
Tonight thanks to that very kind old chap called Timey I arr be mostly playing Fallout4
If you find any roach meat in the fridges on your way out of the Cryo facility, that would be mine so fill your boots!
Forgot to bin it before deleting Fallout 4....
