Quantum Break Reviews.

[link to this post]

Not what i expected to be fair, they range from 2/5 to a couple of 10/10 and some seriously low scores bedsides crazy

5 years in development and it looks like another hit and miss game that may not reach the high expectations expected .

At least Demon Souls 3 released in just over a week is getting brilliant reviews.......Its not for you Nelly...........Bloodborne developers.

I'm starting to go off reading reviews ahead of playing a game or watching a film, I find it mars my view. It's interesting to read them after and see what others think but if I read it before I feel like I am trying to find the same faults in it etc.

I've never known Remedy to make a bad game and from what I have seen so far this game looks really interesting, I like the TV series they have done to go along side it, it seems very different. Let's wait and see, don't write it off just yet smile

Well i care about reviews as it reflects on if i buy the product or not, especially when most of the gaming sites slam a certain game.

If a game gets low scores then i doubt very much of that is the game for me and its usually justified to some degree.

Thats what we have gaming journalism and thats why we all visit gaming sites for gaming related information.

Seriously if you hadn't pre loaded it and it bombed and got really poor across the board reviews.........Would you seriously still have bought it.......I doubt it very much.

It's down to opinion and preference. Look at the new Batman v Superman film. 35% critic reviews and 85% general public, that's a massive difference! The critics are looking for different things to the general public.

Now in my hands........Thoughts later this evening, well a brief summary of what i actually think.

As long as its not like The order 1886......What a joke game that was !!!

I think game wise I'm going to enjoy it,but real life 20 minute story episodes with real life actors I'm not.

Re: Quantum Break,Timeys Thoughts after 2 hours

[re: mrnelster] [link to this post]

Lets start with a positive........The shooting and action sequences are spectacular and a hell of a lot of fun.........And that ends the positives.

The platform Mechanics are truly awful and movement clunky at best.this is leagues away from Uncharted and far from fluid.

Played it for 2 hours and to be honest that was a struggle, the story is confusing, sometimes the graphics looked washed out and funny, very noticeable on the blacks especially and the picture looked like it had a snow effect,in fact i was that concerned at some of the shots it had me scrambling around the back of my Television to see if the HDMI lead had worked its way loose but it hadn't.

The first 20 minutes i was literally bored to death with the introduction and the on rails follow me type scenario, the story well that is another story, only Remedy will understand what the heck is going on,and to be honest i couldn't even be bothered to be even be slightly interested, way to many things to take in and read and the game just didn't grip me in the slightest.

I was literally in two minds after 30 minutes to load The division instead,I'm actually on Act 2 Level 1 and the first act took all of 40 minutes and apart from the shooting which is amazing the rest is just plain boring, considering there are only 5 acts its going to be a really short game.

I won't lie the whole plot and story totally confused me to the point i literally held the B button constantly to skip all the boring cut scenes and story telling that made little to no sense.

I was so hyped for this game and for me its a major disappointment ,I'm now downloading the Doom Beta and i really can not see me really wanting to play much more of this Quantum Break as it just doesn't do it for me regardless of how good the action sequences are .

The graphics when your in fire fights and using your new found time technique are implemented really well and they look really sweet, but graphically the rest of the game doesn't really look much better than a good 360 game from around 6 years ago when they first started developing this.

I actually view this game just like i did when i loaded the playstation exclusive The Order 1886,its not quite as bad as that game but its not no Xbox One system seller either and is some way of.

The game is decent but to me apart from the shooting and action 9/10 the rest i would struggle with a 6/10.

And i agree with another reviewer,Alan Wake is so much better and thats 6 years old.

Truly disappointing .......Sorry Jorkila but thats my opinion, and if you hadn't preordered and payed i would have gladly sent you this as a freebie because thats how much i care about playing this game.

Personally i can see now why the reviews of this game range from brilliant to mediocre at best.

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

I agree....wink The last thing i want to do when I'm really looking forward to a game is come on here and dish the dirt, there is a lot to like in Quantum Break but also a lot to dislike, obviously this is how i feel and not a reflection on what somebody else thinks.

Forums are about opinions and if your happy and buy and play the game and think its outstanding then Kudos to you and thats what makes us all different.

I just don't think this game been 6 years in development used its strengths which is basically the combat elements and amazing shoot outs to the purpose they should have,it seems to be half game, half real life story telling and thats not what we want,we buy games to play them and be immersed in them,to be blown away by superb set pieces and graphical flare,we don't want confusing stories and real life story cut scenes that last 20 minutes,i want to be in total control and i don't want to have to sit through tedious story sections each chapter.

I buy games to play and enjoy and hopefully meet my high expectations like Rise Of the Tomb Raider that blew me away, and talking of that game i may go back and play that and all the season pass stuff i have downloaded as this is what i call a game.

Jorkila and Jaxx i hope you totally disagree once you fire Quantum Break up,thats all fine with me.

Jorkila loved the Order 1886 so his expectations are much lower than mine tongue.

Bloodborne,The Division and quite a few others have met and surpassed my expectations ......Quantum Break sadly doesn't cut it for me.

I shall still persevere with it when i get some time later this evening, but I'm not excited to have a gaming session playing it,and that shouldn't be ?

Well again i ventured into this game last night, jorkila trying to watch on Twitch which was about 20 seconds behind.,I'm telling you now I'm done with this game,it offers literally no enjoyment for me and the basics i require when putting my time into Video games.

I'm actually finding it a complete chore if I'm honest,i have said the shooting mechanics are really brilliant but unfortunately the rest is a damp squid at best.

If there was a local Game store in my local town then i would have ditched this game Monday morning which would have completely taken them by surprise given the official release date is tomorrow.

I just hope that Jorkila and Jaxx don't feel the same as myself,i think regardless of what i think they will agree with some of my points.

Where games like The Division grip me and entice me to want to keep playing it,after a mere few days of Quantum Break Ive already cast it to one side as there are way better games to entertain me,standing next to Games like Rise of The Tomb Raider and Bloodborne and The division this is leagues away in terms of Gameplay and presentation.

Whichever of you is right, I will probably never by it on pc now anyway, because everyone has mentioned the slow motion thingy........and I detest slow motion thingys in games.

It breaks up my flow man! cool

It's funny though, because I do still want to play The Order. If Kila says it's a great "experience"' then I'd tend to believe him. If he's wrong, I'll just send him the bill...

But that's because I enjoy cutscenes and interactive, QTE type of sequences if (and it's a big if) the story is evocative.

On the other hand, I'd never have tried the Uncharted series had you not told me I was missing a trick. Or Shadow of the Colussus. Or the bewildering ICO, the only game I've ever played that tried busting my brain with puzzles, whilst at the same time audibly promoting complete relaxation.

And a big shout out to Swanny. Without him I'd never have envisaged myself in purple. It's been emotional. Seriously...

On a serious note mate I'm glad the game rocks your boat wink

I will say i am getting really picky these last few years and if a game doesn't grab me within a few minutes of me loading it up then basically i can not be bothered.

I don't think its a Junk Game, but it just doesn't do anything for me remotely and thats what i need when playing a game,i have to feel somewhat immersed in the game and eye candy aside it just doesn't appeal to me.

It's not Steam Sharesies though, is it? Won't it be a waste if I don't enjoy it and you don't get the chance to run it through your 970?

That said, I have a massive beef with MS over the Windows Store.

I suggest avoiding all new microsoft games on PC as they running them on that windows store abomination which is some kind of extra layer making games not function very well. They not native win32 apps like steam games.

Its ironic microsoft the developer of windows has made such a bodge up with this.

I will never use the Windows store, ever.

When I tried to log into both my kids notebooks to download free games that came with them, it took over the second notebook and renamed the user (avatar and all) as that of the first notebook I logged in with.

There may have been a way to avoid this, but I shouldnt have had to; it's draconian and they can stick it up their [censored].

Already on my gaming PC. Good in many areas, but not all.

I don't worry too much about being spied on. But I draw the line at DRM policy allowing changes to be made to my PC which is why I mentioned the Windows Store and not Windows 10.
