To be honest, that was the only thing that stopped me from pre-ordering. It was apparently a million to one chance of finding one of your friends in game. If this changes that, IF, then I'd be tempted again.

What's the point in me naming the first planet I discover in the Frankie Howard Nebula, "Titteryeenot" if nobody on my friends list can find it? mad

You can not as its not that type of multiplayer, there is a remote small chance you may land on a planet that your friend has visited but that is extremely remote.

Could be wrong but from how I understood it is that everyone is playing in the same universe but it's so huge that the chances of meeting someone is very small.

You can interact with other players, you just can't lobby up with them, and the scale makes a chance encounter nigh on impossible.

Which is what's so interesting about that aspect of the patch notes. Just how much it narrows that "vicinity" down remains to be seen, but there's little point in it otherwise. The original concept omitted MP because they wanted to reinforce just how massive space really is, but I suspect that play testing has shown that once you've achieved that, interest might wain.

P.s. This is how massive space really is.

We're amoebas the lot of us...

Wait for a price reduction Swanny then pick it up when i have been half way around the Milky Way smile game looks quite complex to be honest with a lot of people saying that the infantry is quite confusing knowing what to collect and what to leave, apparently the patch has addressed a few of these issues and allocated extra slots for materials.

Is it possible to finish this Game.

What worries me is my attention span and how large scale this game is and how long will the wow factor last before i get bored with exploration ?

If it has complex crafting system and confusing menu then thats not a good start for me,i hate confusing games and loads of crafting options .

Well i played it for an hour last night and it looks epic and within a few minutes i was totally confused at what to do and how to craft the items and where exactly i find them.

It has a really confusing crafting system and is text rich in explaining what to do and exactly how to do it.

Its way to early to be critical of the game but i just don't know if its my type of game because after wandering around for about an hour trying to work out how to find and craft materials i have to admit i was getting a little bored.

I'm really going to put some serious hours into the game but i do hope it becomes more clear and its not collect this ,collect that.

Getting quite a range of mixed bagged reviews from Metacritic, some brilliant and some saying its the same boring exploration over and over again with very little in way of structure and gameplay,i got to be honest even though i have played it for no more than 1 hour, the game doesn't as of yet excite me and I'm dubious and doubtful that it will.

In theory its a brilliant idea, but to constantly do the same thing over and over and over on different planets with randomly generated slightly different creatures and colour pallet is not exactly what i call a game.

I started playing games like Doom and i was hooked, when i landed on the first planet last night with my crashed space ship within minutes i was thinking I'm going to get bored with this, its minecraft on different planets and boy do i hate games like minecraft.

Its not a review Swanny it was my initial impressions of the game and whats required, like i said in another post it hasn't as of yet blown me away but it may do when i invest time, its a nice looking game with some lovely music but my first hour was trying to recover parts for my crashed space ship so i can leave the planet, and i did find it a tad repetitive if I'm honest and I'm worried that this will be the game only on different planets,i may be wrong but i just worry i have the patience for this type of game.

This year and part of last year there are only a couple of games that have blown me away, not even Uncharted 4 held my attention for long and after about 6 hours of that and the most boring first couple of hours in a Uncharted game i left that one and moved on to others....Doom so far has been the best game i have played this year, and probably the first few weeks spent with The Division before again i tired of that.

You and me Both, had it since Tuesday morning and i have basically played it for about 1 hour and to be honest i might not ever go back, unless you have to put literally hours into it to find a game then constant exploring and crafting things is not exactly my thing,i may just go back to Just Cause and all my new download content,Got Deus Ex Mankind in 12 days, hopefully that might put a smile on my face,No Mans Sky Doesn't ?

Im still going to give it some serious game time but like Jorkila i doubt this has Wow Factor and personally i think this is not going to be rated as high as we thought, plenty of really bad comments on Metacritic from users.

My comment may surprise some of you but I dont think I will like this either.

This is one of those games where they have designed it so people put in 100s of hours crafting and so forth, without knowing what the end game is? what is the moment you beat the game?

Also a dynamically generated huge world is bound to mean lots of repetitiveness, I like RPG's and the concept of grinding/farming but within reasonable limits, and a game that has been hand crafted to be enjoyable all the way through well balanced etc, not something dynamically generated to try and win points for been large.

This is why I dont play MMOs as I find them complete excessive time sinks.

The dev's did their job, they hyped it up, the sheep fell for it and brought it in large numbers, profit made.

The only reason to pick it up on pc over ps4 is the cost, It's a poor looking game with basically no real objective!!

Hopefully yeah

i did make a thread about it on a pc forum and the waves of people telling me to update my drivers was insane

of course i updated them it was the first thing i tried

but i don't know some people are running it fine on lower hardware while some higher end gear is struggling so i don't know the problem

but its a sure bet that its the game

Also i swapped in a RX 480 and the game runs a little better about 20-25fps

still low but playable-ish.

also if you had a phenom II cpu it wouldn't run at all cause of no SSE4.1.

I might buy just to see how it runs, then refund it. smile

As long as under 2 hours gameplay can be auto refunded.

What on earth are dev's thinking when releasing this [censored], do they really think noone will say anything?
If they not competent enough to release the game on windows then dont release it at all.

Its probably the usual scenario, 30 million or so spent on the ps4 version, then about 20 grand for the pc port with 2 weeks dev time limit.

I have only played for a couple of hours so can't really come to any conclusion on the game yet but so far I have enjoyed playing and think it will be a decent game if you enjoy exploration and crafting, I think it could be a good game to just pick up and play for a hour or so to fill some time without being pulled into a story.

I think the main problem is it was hyped so much that peoples expectations were sky high and probably unrealistic.

which of course the dev's fuelled that hype, 99% of games now days are sold on hype alone.

Also given the price point I justify the high expectations.
