Well I have to say the 4K example clips do look great (viewing at 1080p), though I'm comparing it to my Phat

They going to release a 4K Video after the show to see the benefits of 4k if you have the hardware.

There is a point to the slim.

I remember when I was a kid there was 2 tiers of consoles, the snes and nes for nintendo, and megadrive and master system for sega, my parents were not wealthy and satisfied my cravings with the cheaper master system. I was happy with it, it gave me some fun games to play.

Similar situation now, kids ask for a ps4, parents might have to really save hard within a small budget and just about afford the slim.

Yes no point getting a Slim if you have a PS4, it is for people who don't own one and it will replace the standard PS4. Main reason is because it is probably cheaper for Sony to make.

It's amazing to think the original PS3 had different pricing dependant on whether it had, 40, 60 or 80GB drives, how times have changed in terms of specs!

The PS4 Pro doesn't play 4K blu rays????, That seems a little strange seeing as that's a decent selliing point for the Xbox one S as 4K players are quite expensive.
I mean if your getting the console for 4K then you have a 4K TV then surely a lot of people will want to be able to play 4K blu rays as well and not have to wait for a streaming service to provide the film.

IMO the specs are not high enough for native 4K gaming, so it's either going to look really pretty but have seriously low FPS or its going to be upscaled which isn't really 4K, (TBH the graphics spec for scorpio isn't going to have amazing FPS). I mean its an upgrade on a PS4 but with the new xbox coming out next year and no doubt a new uber PS in the not to distant future is it really worth upgrading from a PS4 to a pro.

Saying that if the Xbox one S gives between 5-10% increased frames in some games then the pro would be much higher than that.

Have they said how much the pro benefits the older games??? (didn't watch conference)

First there was Nes Yes and then there was a Snes,what you must be saying is the Nes got released and your parents didn't buy you one,then the Snes came along and they bought you the older system is that what your saying because they wasn't released at the same time same with the Sega Consoles.

Yeah and fancy releasing a xbox 360 with no hard drive at all just a tiny flash drive in this digital age 2TB a must and even with the Playstation Pro reveal i think they skimped on that with just the 1TB.

So finally Sony are releasing something we all new was coming,the Playstation Pro,personally i liked the name Neo better who ever came up with that name in the first place.

Now lets talk about some interesting Facts regarding the Sony Meeting if you can call it that as it lasted 43 minutes with the 2 Sony Cronies presenting,Andrew House and Mark [KRANK]Cerney .

What we know ?

Its called a Playstation Pro and is released on November 10th at £349 and its 1TB and some of the games running on the system look drop dead gorgeous.

What they failed to mention and i have a conspiracy theory as to why....

They failed to mention the Processor,they failed to mention about the Ram and the graphics chip,now as we all know during June and before tonight many people were drawing conclusions to the upgraded faster Ram in the Neo now the Pro and talking about 4.2 T/flops as opposed to the Xbox Scorpio 6.something and they also rumoured about the Ram Speed ,some of this was rumours but some of this was suppose to be leaked from those in the know ?

Now we all know the Playstation Pro will be a very nice machine and have at some point some excellent games on it that will utilise the extra power,so why no mention of the specification ?

I mean they may mention at it at a later date ,but wasn't this the place to do it ?

my theory is this,Sony will release 3 consoles in 14 months,the slim in about 10 days,the Pro in 2 months and then another to counteract the Scorpio release in November 2017.

I think Sony never talked about specs because they know the Scorpio probably blows its specs out of the water at this moment in time and they didn't want a side by side comparison on this very night.

Its not always the most powerful system that sells the most,just look at the 360 opposed to the Playstation 3 and the state and difference of games running on a Playstation 3 opposed to the better game running on a 360.

Im sure the Pro is going to be amazing and the minute those pre/orders go live i will be there like a Rat up a Drain Pipe.

If Sony don't go head to head in at least specs against the Scorpio in 14 months time then i expect them to counteract it with some mind blowing exclusive games and some exclusivity,just like they have now gone in with Activision for content and exclusivity First,funny wasn't that always Microsoft with the Cod Games ?

I just can not see Sony Letting Microsoft have a Console on the market far superior to what they have....That would be Suicide,bit like Microsoft Xbox One reveal and the disaster that was and boy how its alienated gamers on there platform.

I will look but anybody want to add what seems to be better and and do a side by side comparison the pro v the Playstation 4,looking at it in some small detail it seems pretty much the same as the original playstation 4

actually I did get a snes a few years after the master system

never owned a nes tho.

We can debate about sky tv and what not, but there is a market for the ps4 slim. Thats my point, everyone has their own priorities on what they spend their money on and I am pretty confident there will be parents out there picking the cheaper console.

the master system and megadrive were both current consoles from sega for quite some time, I remember going toys rus to get sonic, and that was released on both consoles, sonic 2 was also. Although they were different games to each other, not just graphical differences.

They interviewed some devs after the presentation and they were asked how much extra grunt there is, they said a bit over 2x grunt on the GPU. The cpu is also boosted but they didnt give an idea of how much.

No i don't think its a Good idea but i also think the Neo now names Pro was way ahead in advancement in June when Microsoft dropped a huge Bomb Shell with there news on the Scorpio Reveal next year,way to late in my opinion for Sony to counteract and do anything about it,i also think they were prepared to talk about the Pro at E3 right up to the minute of the Xbox Scorpio announcement and then back tracked.

So at present Sony will have a more powerful machine for about 12 months and i don't see Sony in the R and D department doing nothing.

At the end of the day its all about Exclusive games and how well they look and how well they play,Microsoft have certainly got to step up the game in this department.

Only if you buy the latest model each time. It would be great for the consumer that buys the discounted last model. My PS4 is still working so I won't be upgrading until it finally dies

I just hope that they still fully support the standard PS4. If games start running poorly on it then that will be a huge mistake.

If we end up with frequent console updates and games not running well on the previous versions then they are really destroying what is great about consoles and we may as well move to PC.

I don't think games will not run well on previous versions of consoles they will just not run as high (as in frames per sec and resolution) as they dont have the power to do so.

It looks like more frequent console updates though.

Personally for me the ease of just loading a game and instantly starting games and chatting with friends is what makes my preferred gaming experience console gaming.

PC gaming tends to have other programs for chat etc , That and with so many different component types can cause issues that you just don't see coming.

I mean I've got a PC but prefer gaming on the console for the reasons above, What I will be trying though is "play anywhere" on GOW4 etc though as playing on my vastly more powerful PC while still using the Xbox eco system sounds like a win win for me.

Now microsoft have added LFG and to a lesser degree clubs (well for preview members) it just makes it so much easier to find people I don't think it will be long before Sony use this as well.

No it's still my old one. The thing that finally fixed the disc ejecting was standing it on its side.
It has a problem with the sound. I have to keep switching the sound between chat and all audio and the controller won't switch its self off if left alone. Its not a well PS but it at least I can use it

Elder scrolls Online will apparently play at NATIVE 4K with a PS4 pro, I find that seriously hard to believe, I've seen more powerful PC's struggle to play it in 4K at a half decent frame rate.

The frame drops in the game are jaw dropping at some points so will be interesting to see what happens with this.
I'm still waiting for the NATIVE part to be dropped from the above but you never know..

what is really daft is that this not come with a 4k bluray player, when the cheaper xbox1 slim does.

Also apparently the ps4 slim is a downgrade from the original ps4, it has no optical out.

There is debates about whether the 4k is upscaled or native, I think most games will be upscaled however that is not a given as generally the hardware is used more efficiently on consoles so 4tflops on a console is not the same as 4 tflops on a pc.

Well Sony has come out and said that both have to have the same fps etc online as they don't want one console having an advantage over another (rightly so) in online multiplayer, single player can though.

More powerful GPU and CPU's can't get 60 FPS in 4K so I don't think anyone really expected the Pro to be able to do 60 FPS in many if any games.

Yes not having 4k bluray playback is ridiculous. what were they thinking.

PlayStation 4 Pro Slim

Some interesting discussion on PS4 Pro HDR from Digital Foundary if you have 30 minutes to kill.

Apparently The Last of Us will be native 4K. I suspect it will be 30fps but I don't think that's an issue with most games. Should look great IF it stays there and doesn't lollop around all over the place.

Watch this space,you have not seen the last of Sony Console releases and next year along side the Scorpio or just after to dampen the Scorpio launch they will release or announce another even more powerful console.

Its going to cause a massive uproar with those that went out and bought the Pro and it will alienate many loyal Sony Customers,it will impact a fair few but I'm convinced if they come up with something even more special than the Scorpio gamers will still buy into it.

It was way to late down the Pro development to change anything and they have already manufactured many 100s of thousands,so they had to launch and announce it,i think if this had not gone into production and was not at such an advanced stage they would have ditched it and told us about what they had in the pipe line to counteract the Scorpio.

I think at E3 Microsoft gave Sony a huge Headache and even surprised them with what they had coming next year.

Does the VR unit have a screen to look at or does it project the images straight into you eyes?

I don't know how it works mate to be honest,personally as you know i wasn't slightly interested ,girlfriend quite fancies it thats why we ordered one.

Personally i think i will enjoy it for a day or two then totally go back to normal gaming,just like with the Nintendo Wii and Wii U.
