The Pro Has Landed.

[link to this post]

Yeah got the new Playstation Pro here, thicker and heavier than the standard Playstation 4 but other than that not a lot has changed apart from whats inside.

Had to go through the initial set up and firmware update, but i need to get out some game like The last of Us to see if there is any great difference, there are quite a few games with Playstation Pro support, but i will want to see more recent games than older games if I'm honest.

Watchdogs 2 next Tuesday has Pro Support followed by Killing Floor 2 on Friday week and then The Last Guardian Dec 9th.

I shall be playing Dishonoured 2 later though wink on it for sure

To be honest mate even before this Pro the games looked brilliant on my New Tv so its hard to tell, very vibrant and bright colours and I'm not exactly sure if this game has Pro Support to be honest.

I might just load up The last of Us again and see if i can see the Pro support that they have added, but in reality i think you need 2 tv sets side by side and 2 copies of the game to make a informed proper decision and I'm not expert in that area.

All i know is since having this TV with the HDR option the games really do come to life and seem a lot clearer for sure.

I mean we going from 1080p to 3700 or whatever it is, so its going to look better.

Well when i put a certain game on the screen displays a resolution of 3700 by whatever so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.......Must be a HDR thing then ?

2160p is the 2nd part of the resolution so 3840x2160

HDR has nothing to do with resolution.

3700 just seems weird, I cannot think of a resolution with 3700 as part of the number.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_resolut...

Nothing there with 3700.

I've been looking at 4K tellys for nelly now that HDR has arrived. I've always thought that it wasn't worth it on screens less than 50", but I'm thinking HDR has made it worthwhile now?

Been looking at this 40 or 43" Samsung.

sorry I am not in your competition for the most expensive TV.

Do I care that I dont have a 4k tv? not really.

I think this HDR scam is in the same league as the nvidia gsync scam, making people buy new screens to take advantage of a software algorithm.

Its by no means the most expensive tv its just that you just seem to pick the bones and faults out of every single post on these forums, do i actually care what the exact numbers are that were displayed on a game i was playing...........No .

well you are the one who got the tv and the console to have those numbers, so its logical you do care. smile

To me I will play a game happily at 1080p, 900p, 720p or whatever the resolution is hence I got no interest in the ps4 pro or a 4k tv.

You ordered tomb raider for the ps4 pro yet?

The thing is, Digital Foundfry reckon the Pro gives really good benefits to a 1080p upscale in BF1, so there's no rush. Might pick the pro up first?

1080 video capture of you getting launched into the air then too. smile

There is little point mate in me ordering rise of the tomb raider on the playstation 4 when i have had that game for over a year, the game is a class act and one of the best games i have played in quite a few years, but the way i look at games is obviously changing as i don't seem to have much patience with games in the last few years, that could do with me getting older or developers pumping out constant remasters and games that fail to live up to expetations.

I have ordered Watchdogs 2 next Tuesday because i loved the first one, but when i actually watch the trailers I'm not exactly convinced its in a similar style as there doesn't seem to be the action i was expecting in the few trailers i watched, seems more about city life and interaction and Hacking so it might be a game that disappoints me yet again.

I know you think I'm made of money which I'm not, to buy rise of the tomb raider just for the Pro would be kind of stupid ,now i do stupid things and buy games that don't really appeal to me, but when i bought Rise of the tomb raider for Xbox One i also did the other stupid thing and buy the season pass which is another argument in its own right,Watchdogs 2 seasons pass is as much as the game and unless l like the game and the season pass offers me content i will enjoy then i will wait and see about purchasing that.

Yes i want the best picture but just because i got the resolution bit wrong because i could not remember doesn't mean much now does it.

Tell me a gamer that doesn't want the best picture and set up, any gamer that loves games wants to see a game in all its glory with the highest resolution and frame rate possible, to say you don't care is something i don't believe mate.

Because both you and me know if you had loads and loads of money you would not be making those claims and would probably be the first person on these forums with the kick ass PC and TV and monitor to match.

I suggested buying that game because you brought the pro, I do find you hard to understand in what you want at times.

If I had loads of money spare then yes I probably would own a ps4 pro and a xbox1, probably would own one of every console. Not sure if it would change my opinion tho.

I care about stable framerates, I also think its nice to have enhanced visuals, however for me enhanced visuals is things like draw distances, texture quality, and HDR. Not pixel count. On that one I disagree with sony who are pushing 4k as hard as they can. In addition sony have clearly shown they willing to have compromised framerates, and that choice is not in the hand of the player as typically there is no options to fiddle with graphics settings on a console. This is why my gaming on a console is usually limited to exclusives or if I want to play a game for the achievements.

From what I have seen I still think this PS4 Pro is a bad idea, it's better yes but not in a big way, if you have a PS4 it seems it's not really worth upgrading. Still think they should have stuck with the standard PS4, waited a year or two more and brought out a PS5 with a significant upgrade ( which is pretty much what MS will be doing ).

Digital Foundry reckon BF1 up scaled on a 1080p screen, is a bigger improvement than playing the base game in 4K on the Pro.

It's all getting a bit confusing....but I think I'm still going to end up buying one. smile

The fail is people spending their time producing that sort of media, when they could be playing games, whilst claiming not to be fanboys themselves. crazy

I've only got a 1080 telly so all this "checkerboard" thing is of no relevance. I would buy one just to capture gameplay in 1080 though. I'm sure future AAA titles will look amazing though, no argument there. Why are people so het up about patching games they've already played?

I bet Skyrim will look stunning on my rig for eight odd quid. I'd never of bought the remaster if I'd already played it on another platform though.

The only game I've ever bought twice is The Last of Us, because it was the best video game I've ever played. Oh, and GTA V on the PS3 & PS4 of course. smile

I thought TLOU was a masterpiece, but I totally understand your frustration at one particular level.

I was enjoying the original Watchdogs, until I got stuck on one (what should have been simple) rooftop quest. It bored me to death after questionng whether I was actually doing the right thing for I've an hour, so I traded the game the next day while it still had residual value,

If there's one thing I absolutely detest in games, it's boring tasks made to appear challenging by simply hiding the next step, rather than building in logical progression. It's a cop out, so they can stick the sequel up their [censored].
