Sony adds external HDD support for PS4

About time too


With the rollout of PS4 System Software Update 4.50 (code named Sasuke), Sony is adding support for external hard drives. The internal drive can still be upgraded if you so wish, but once Update 4.50 is installed it will be possible to plug in a USB 3.0 external drive of up to 8TB.

Once connected, a PS4 will automatically recognize the new drive and allow you to start saving files and applications to it directly. It's also possible to manage the storage from the settings menu and decide where data goes

Sweet, and as you say, about flipping time! I created a couple of GIFs with the share factory, but the PS4 doesn't recognise my USB flash drive.

I wonder what (if any) format will be imposed on the external hard drive? I want to be able to move clips/gifs etc to my pc easily.

I might try Lords of the fallen when 4.50 actually lands. I got it free on PS Plus, so if boost mode improves if that much it might be worth a try. Can't be any more frustrating than Bloodbourne was, but I won't hold my breath.
